I like what I read in this article. Players acknowledge that they have to be more physical and scrappy. Now, can they be? https://omaha.com/sports/huskers/mens-basketball/trilingual-guard-emmanuel-bandoumel-is-learning-fast-boosting-morale-at-nebraska/article_d599dd80-fe3b-11ec-8e2b-872d3b266c62.html?utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook_Omaha_World-Herald_Huskers

If the "What will it take?" stuff happens ...
Huskerpapa replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Other teams will be good to great. Especially in our league. Being better may not be good enough. The key to me is will we play like a team? Will the team play with extreme effort, execution and passion. The only way we make it to the next level (or two) is by busting our nuts each and every game. Individualism simply will not get it done. -

I found this a bit odd. Perhaps there is a great explanation out there. Last week Oklahoma City picked up his option. This week they waived him (which is good for Isaiah as he should secure a better contract with a team of his choice). Does Oklahoma City somehow profit by making this move rather than not picking up his option? Just wondering...

Not sure on accuracy; but I am hearing the names Notre Dame, Oregon and Washington being floated. Further heard that Oregon and Washington announcement may come later today. I would think three would be wrong...it would be two or four additions. -

There will be movement involving all of the power five conferences. It should be an interesting couple of months. -
From the beginning of the season there was a sense that this program was in peril. The extent of which is mind blowing, especially when factoring in the previous season. We will be watching an entirely new product on the field next season.

This probable change may be the first of many...perhaps additional teams, doing away with divisions, more or perhaps less conference games, and no conference tournaments??? Change...it is a coming! -
His contract and coaching future depends upon the premise that he, or someone on his staff can! Yet, to specifically answer the question, no.

Not done...yet. A lot of work to be done. Scheduling may be a bit tricky, but I bet divisions become a thing of the past. I also wouldn't bet against two or more additional teams. -
Goodness...I needed a pump or two os sunshine onto my coffee this morning---thank you ;)

Didn't stay up to watch the whole draft
Huskerpapa replied to colhusker's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Lol...good side subject. I laugh, at least in part, because the move is now named. Why was it named, if it did not include a definition of a new basketball move? Was it legal for a euro-step to be used ten years or so ago? This is basically a change on what is or isn't travelling without changing the rules. We simply allowed American basketball to mirror an international rule. Correct? -
Pretty darn close to my guess. But hard to evaluate until we actually see them. Heck, 49r may be spot on as well.
-
When Fred arrived here my assumption was that our offense was going to be exponentially better. I have been...ahhhh...disappointed. Do we have the ability to become more effective and efficient?
-
Great unknown are the newcomers. Major roles out there for the taking.

* Team ball * Strong leadership * Elite effort, EVERY game * Rebound (see effort) * Defense (see effort) * Top third in the league assist to turnover rate * Offensive efficiency * Coaches who can/will game plan and be willing and able to adjust at halftime and during the game. * Passion for the game, your school, the fans, your teammates and the coaches. Every one of those categories must be improved upon from last year. This team must win back the trust and passion of the fans that continues to show unreasonably strong love for the program. And oh yeah, we better hope that the talent is good enough to play at this high level. If the above takes place...IF...it all falls together, perhaps we can provide a bit of shock and awe.
