2019 PF Matthew Hurt -> Duke
HuskerCager replied to AuroranHusker's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Shouldn't the topic title read as "Matthew", not Michael? Michael is Matthew's older brother, who is a 2016 Minnesota Gopher commit. -

Big Ten Schools' outlooks for next year.
HuskerCager replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Wisconsin returns 99% of minutes and 99% of scoring. Wow. -
That was one clumsy tweet. And maybe an even clumsier recant. If you want to explain what you said, why would you do that through Gary Parrish?

2016 SG Ryan Murphy -> Charlotte -> Pitt
HuskerCager replied to unl's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Summarized in Seinfeld terms, Ryan Murphy is the sable hat-wearing George Costanza, and Tim Miles is Heather. "By Mennen"... or "By Murphy" -
At the start this was a marriage on convenience as we were in a lurch with the whole Burno fiasco and Beckner needed a job. As far as I know we don't have any guys he recruited that were close to signing so unknown how he was going to end up as a recruiter here. At this time of the year we have a pretty good chance at finding a pretty good guy out there...heck we might want to think about looking internally this time as we have some pretty good candidates already in house.Agree it was kind of a last minute hire, but I liked him as a hire. We will see if miles is able to land someone who can not only coach offense, but recruit like a mastermind. Good connections aren't always a bad thing. If he is to leave there should be plenty of time for miles to go searching. Beckner is heading to Boise State at a BIG pay cut. And it's that right there that makes me wonder. Did Beckner not like what was going on here and decide to make the move? Did staff not get along? Was it never a good fit? What was the issue? I don't know. We could wait for Phil to explain it in his own words, but that wouldn't be any fun, would it?

If assistants don't like working with Miles (which I highly doubt), they don't seem to mind associating with him after they are gone. Miles and his son just spent the weekend with Coach Smith and his son (nothing is private anymore, is it?). Avery day was celebrated a year after Harriman left. Am I missing someone? You can't blame Smith for wanting to take a shot at being a head coach himself after so many years as Miles assistant. Harriman left for a higher responsibility position at a respectable Lobo basketball program. That said, I hate to lose Beckner if this turns out to be true. Miles had him speak a couple nights on the coaches radio program and he's as high energy and articulate as Miles himself. Maybe this rumor has as much legs as Rosenthal's prediction that a Louisville center might end up in Lincoln.

Hang in there, Tim. Don't give up. But if you haven't already, give Kavell from Gillette a call, OK? http://www.twincities.com/2016/04/07/gophers-6-foot-11-jordy-tshimangacenter-visiting-friday/ http://247sports.com/Player/Jordy-Tshimanga-69227 -
Husker Power, Nebrasketball-style
HuskerCager replied to AuroranHusker's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
First of all, I don't doubt that we have a lot of hard working players on our team. Here's what I don't understand. If Jacobson is scoring 1,542, and a 1,500 is considered a high A grade (per Wilson), then shouldn't he be dominating other players in the Big Ten? Since he didn't, does that mean the players he played against would get a A+++ grade (or some superlative grade)? I think it's established that these guys have put in a lot of time and effort into improving themselves. But I guess I didn't see a lot of freakishly athletic folks on the floor this past winter. -
Getting an early start on my April Fools threads ...
HuskerCager replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
All of those are good, Norm, but none of them will ever compare with the April Fool's fiasco the A.D. compliance department pulled on us, with botched paperwork and Roburt Sallie going instead to Memphis. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/26192-nebraska-basketball-the-tale-of-roburt-sallie -
2017 PF David Wingett -> Memphis -> S. Dakota St

Is this Bernard Day's son? If so, how does he compare with BJ? -
Well... good luck to Jake. Hope this means we are certain to land another center.

Ugh. They choked. Not a fan of the Irish.

Nebraska will not pursue further postseason play
HuskerCager replied to MidwestDrummer's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
It's pretty incredible that the Vegas 16 still has 5 more days before the tournament even begins. The NCAA and NIT final 4's will all be set by the time the event tips off on Monday. I guess I still think a 17 day layover wouldn't have served us very well. -
nustudent got bad karma scores for making frank observations that some people don't like to hear. I know he wouldn't exactly like this comparison, but he is the Lee Barfknecht of HHC. That's a complement, nustudent, coming from me anyway.

Good news. I would take him. Number 21 per below.

2017 C Sterling Manley -> North Carolina
HuskerCager replied to AuroranHusker's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Sounds good on the surface, but one thing that concerns me is his apparent susceptibility to injury: ....standout center in 6-9 junior Sterling Manley, whose season ended Feb. 12 with a broken left tibia... Manley missed the first six games of the season recovering from a broken right tibia suffered last August, and sustained his season-ending injury Feb. 12 in a 59-49 win at Gahanna that earned Central a share of the league title. http://www.thisweeknews.com/content/stories/pickerington/sports/2016/03/15/boys-basketball-central-falls-in-regional-semi.html -
There also is Kavell Bigby-Williams at Gillette, WY JC. But the Ducks are reported to be the leader for his services the other day.
-
Not sure, but let's just say I'd be willing to bet you my left kidney that I know who earned it.
-
OK, Norm, so let's say that Gorjak gets on the phone with coach and says "I wanna be a Husker". All the while, Jordy says he might come to Lincoln if they don't sign another center this spring. What would you advise the staff to do?

Would be music to my ears if we could hear "Bang-a-rang!" come after his shots. Did he tweet "Blizzo"? That rhymes with Izzo. Gahhh! He's going to be a Spartan. -
The Tulsa World is reporting that he is back on the market. Get him on the phone, coach!

Pitt just lost their coach A very interesting dynamic going on here. Jamie Dixon leaves Pitt for TCU. Would Jordy be interested in going to TCU instead? And TCU happens to be the school where Jordy's brother, Link, played his freshman year, then transferred to Blinn Jr College this year to garner more PT. -
I think golfer is the kind of poster some people love to hate. If I wanted a troll to come back, I would give them lots of thumbs down. If I wanted him to disappear, I would ignore him.
