Change your thread title so we can make this a higher priority thread and maybe get the attention of the University.

Holy crap that guys needs to be banned for life from Husker sports. He deserves much worse, but that is what should happen to him in the least. He left his seat and went down about 12 rows to get in the guys face. Part of me wishes the PSU guy would have laid him out, he would have definitely deserved it.

Yeah, I had no idea it was you... until you ripped off your shirt and I saw the HHC shirt. Congrats on the win!

Georgetown about to lose, maybe we can have their 12 seed.
-
He isn't "fine;" he has an injury to be concerned about but hopefully he only misses 1 or 2 games and when he comes back he can continue to find offense and play good minutes for us.

Some guy with a hhc shirt won the Runza wrapping contest -
Ray played such get defense against MSU I confused him for Parker a couple times. In fact, once coming back from the kitchen I said to my wife "wow, Parker looks really tall guarding that guy." Lets be honest, our defense is a big reason we are on a winning streak and Ray has played great D for us during the streak. It sucks that he was 1-7 or whatever and it also sucks that Shields was 2-7; but hopefully their shots will start dropping. I actually felt like we played a pretty poor game on offense against MSU.

Tim Miles: "Keep their heads ringing..."
PimpMario replied to Nebrasketballer's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Pumped. I am going to try to bring some energy to my section tomorrow night. I just hope the boys come out and are able to put the ball in the hoop. The fans are so much more alive when we are scoring. -
I support the sentiment of the original post!

Patrick Stevens has us as the 5th team out. http://www.syracuse.com/patrick-stevens/index.ssf/2014/02/bracketology_st_johns_climbs_i.html

This team needs to finally put together a complete game. Even in most of our wins we didn't play well in one aspect or another. If we play a complete game and play well we could beat PSU by 20.

I know several fellow Omahans who own NU, UNO and Creighton mens (and some even own womens tickets.) Believe it or not, not everyone is a Nebrasketball fan because they are loyal to the university, some people are actually fans of basketball.
-
That is somewhat misleading because while PBA has sold out every game (technically) we haven't come close to a full house. I am sure some Creighton season ticket holders also plopped down $95 to get season tickets to Nebraska. I mean there are at least 2 sections in the 300 level that have never had a butt in them.

I read them all, but I don't know if it is really about the fans. Big Ten Road Warriors: Big Ten road teams have posted a 34-42 record during conference play, a winning a percentage of .447. Since Feb. 1, a total of 14 Big Ten games have been won by road teams, including five of the last seven and all three decisions on Sunday. All 12 Big Ten teams have posted at least one road victory during conference play, with six teams boasting at least three Big Ten road wins.

We need to win our tourney game not to beat a bad team but to avoid a loss to a bad team.

I was thinking about this last night after reading the board a lot. People seem to think that since we are playing well recently and we are a "home court" team that wins against Penn State and Purdue are foregone conclusions. So I started thinking about the concept of home court advantage where the advantage comes from. First I thought about this team. We are 11-1 at home. But really we are more like 5-1 at home because aside from the Miami game all of our home non con games were against 150+ RPI teams. Miami is 111 so it is not like they are exactly setting the world on fire. But still we are 4-1 in top 100 RPI teams and that is pretty good. Maybe we should just schedule some easy road wins next year. Why not go to the Citadel if road record matters so much? So I would say that we do indeed have a home court advantage. Although I could see someone making the argument that we had more road games to start conference and that we may just be a good team now who can win on the road or at home. The real question is why do we have a home court advantage. Is it player sleeping in their own beds? Is it knowing the rims, hoops and being accustomed to the depth perception when shooting in their home arena? Is is the fans? Is it the locker room? Obviously it is some combination of factors. On Big Ban Theory Leonard pointed out to Penny that "why do sports fans say "we won;" when people watch Star Wars they don't say "we defeated the empire." I think the obvious answer is fans view themselves as an active participant in sporting events. Do home court fans matter? That is what I really want you guys to expand on, do we matter and affect the game? If we do matter than doesn't our attitude and feelings going into the game matter? In other words, if we go to the game expecting to win isn't that going to affect how much we sit on our hands vs try to actively help the team?

The rest of this week (through Sunday) ...
PimpMario replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
You sir, made me spit out my coffee laughing. -
We've had a couple of those moments already this year and passed those tests. I think this team is pretty locked in right now. I would argue that this is the first game we have had with real bubble talk. And the reason I worry about our fans getting a big head is because if Penn State punches us in the mouth the PBA could become love library just like the Bob used to be in a big hurry. Do I think we are a better team than PSU? Absolutely. Can we blow them out? Sure, but I can't remember the last real blowout this team had; probably FGCU. Would I be surprised if we lose? Yes, somewhat, I would be surprised. Not because I don't think PSU can beat us but more because I am starting to believe this is a team of destiny. I hope we aren't a paper tiger. Would I be devastated? Yes I would. The MSU win would mean so much more if it came in the middle of a 5 game winning streak as opposed to a book end to a 3 game win streak.

We should be undefeated. FIRE TIM MILES. He has the best player ever in Petteway and he can't even beat lowly Creighton or Cincinnati.
-
Don't we want Iowa to beat Indiana? If Indiana starts winning a lot and getting top 25 wins couldn't they get onto the bubble?
-
I agree, but the problem is he was supposedly hurt for a good part of the season and I am worried he might of re-aggravated a nagging injury.
-
And people were worried about the kids getting big heads! I can't believe our fan base can get cocky so quickly. When was the last time we beat a team handily? December 21st against the Citadel was our last double digit win. Seriously, we haven't beaten a team by 10 points in a long long time. And furthermore, this is still basketball. It is a wildly unpredictable game. Is MSU not good because they lost to us? Is OSU bad because they lost to PSU?
