Practices are going to be a war for minutes. Guards- Watson is set for 30 - 35 minutes a game is really only set minutes. Gill, Taylor, and Palmer battle for the other 45 - 50 minutes Wings- Roby, Jack, Horne, Nana battle for 40 minutes Frontcourt- Morrow, Jake, Copeland, and Jordy battle for 80 minutes We are a legitimate 12 deep next year.

I'm just judging from Eichorst's past with coaching hires, and what he favors. Tim checks all his boxes. He is optimistic, full of energy, has recruited talented players, and the team is young. He can't control injuries. I would have to say that most of the die hards would want to keep Miles around, knowing the young talent on this team. If it is a booster that is running the program behind the scenes, I would be very disappointed if he gave into them.

So, Shawn, you are not taking into account that we played the 3rd toughest schedule in the country, and the amount of talented youth on this team? It's winning record or else?

Maybe, high blood pressure.

All I could find was Cole Henry (6'8" F out of Iowa), and Xavier Foster, from Iowa. -

Wasn't much of a court storm. About 30 - 40 students went on the court after the game. The players went through the hand shakes, and went to celebrate with the students. Great game, and great effort. We outrebounded Purdue, which doesn't happen often. Had 17 2nd chance points on 15 offensive rebounds, none bigger than Jacobson's put back with 40 seconds left. Again, Horne responded well, not playing against Northwestern. I like the make-up of him and McVeigh. The coaching staff challenges them, and they comeback. A lot of players, sulk and pout. It seems like Horne and McVeigh have that I'm going to work hard and make you play me attitude. Very relieved feeling. Actually, attempted more free throws by an opponent. Even, when Purdue had to foul down the stretch we still held an 18-11 advantage. Probably the difference in the game. Especially they were red hot from 3. Pardon is playing someone other than Nebraska, 1:32 left in the game, he has 0 points and 7 rebounds in 23 minutes. -

Great strategy by Miles. Probably weren't going to beat Northwestern on the road. Keep our secret weapon on the bench, so Purdue doesn't scout him. Bold and daring, gotta love Miles innovative thinking. -

Or, we could just believe the coaches that his effort in practice was lacking. It might have been better since, hence the reason he is getting minutes today. -

Terrible call. He took steps before the first shot. And, I think they are giving him free throws. -

We come out of the gates at the beginning of halves, slowly. Need to get that energy back we had on offense. -

So, the refs back to their old tricks. Foul on one end is not a foul on the other end. Call Jacobson for a foul, and the Purdue played does the same thing and it is not a foul? -

One stat which has been a struggle is 2nd chance points compared to offensive rebounds. Today, we have 11 points on 8 offensive rebounds. Against NW, I think we had 9 points on 16 offensive rebounds. -

Also, letting both teams play down low. My only message to the refs is, call it the same way in the 2nd half. -

2nd half adjustments: Go down the floor, and park Jordy, or Mike in the lane for the entire possession. If they let the Purdue big do it, then they have to let Nebraska do it. -

Watch, the 2nd half, if you breathe on the opposing player, it is going to be a foul. They are letting them play. -
If Schriber can stay healthy, our pitching stays healthy, we should have a pretty good team. We need a few bats to step up in the line-up.

This is going to be an uphill battle for us. Big guys down low we have to worry about, and if we worry about them, they can drain 3's all night. We are not a very good defensive team against the 3. We do not have the size to defend down low. Stats (Big 10 rankings) Offense FG % 3pt % FT % OREB % AST % eFG % Poss Per Game Pts Per Poss FT/g TO % PPG Nebraska .423 (12) .322 (13) .707 (7) .369 (4) .446 (14) .471 (12) 70.1 (7) 1.01 (12) 18.40 (13) .185 (T6) 71.0 (T12) Purdue .494 (2) .411 (1) .752 (T3) .344 (8) .682 (2) .574 (2) 71.8 (4) 1.15 (4) 20.38 (8) .189 (T8) 82.8 (2) Defense Nebraska .434 (11) .382 (13) .677 (4) .337 (12) .482 (6) .497 (11) 70.5 (9) 1.01 (T10) 18.75 (11) .200 (3) 71.0 (12) Purdue .410 (8) .332 (T5) .697 (7) .236 (1) .512 (8) .464 (6) 71.3 (11) 0.93 (3) 12.71 (1) .171 (12) 66.0 (6) Looking at the stats. We are going to have a huge struggle to get to the line, and get offensive rebounds. If Morrow can play, and is somewhat healthy, that will give us a chance. Our best bet is probably to press and force turnovers and easy baskets. At least our defensive rankings are beginning to rise. I remember doing this before, and most of our rankings were 12th and below. Hopefully, we have a big night shooting the ball, and get some transition baskets.

Illinois down 20 at half to PSU. Now, down 14 with 9:18 to go. Grove better have his recruiting class playing like all conference players to retain his job. If he gets to keep it after this year. Really, PSU, do you have to have a fan scream into the crowd mic whenever they are on defense? Is your crowd that bad, you need someone to do that? This is the 3rd game I watched with PSU at home. I can only watch a few minutes, due to the fact that person by the crowd mic is super annoying.

I just saw the highlights and forgot where the game was being played.

What is our offense and what does Miles want it to be?
brfrad replied to PimpMario's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
In conference only games, we are shooting 36.7% from 3. Our opponents are shooting 41.5% from 3. That is a 4.8% difference. Teams that have a larger difference that I can tell: Rutgers 26.0% to 31.0% for a 5% difference. Michigan 40.6% to 49.2% for an 8.6% difference. Iowa 31.1% to 40.8% for a 9.7% difference -
Fire their coach!!! That is unacceptable offense. Did I cover my bases? Rutgers held NW to 25 points in the 1st half, IIRC. I'm starting to wonder if there is something going on the rims on that end of the court? Maybe, they just play harder on defense in the first half.
