That was a Francon 3 worthy call, but he remained relatively calm. -

I'd say 6. He was pretty agitated after Taylor blocked the shot, that led to Iowa calling a timeout. -

A lot of it is, us going over to help, and leaving the other side of the basket wide open for a putback. -

Overall, not a terrible half. Held Iowa to 2 for 7 from 3. Kept them off the foul line. Shot 5 for 11 from 3. Need to rebound better, make free throws, and take care of the ball. -

Morrow needs to work on passing the ball out of the post. -

Worst of all, the Iowa guy dribbled the ball, pinned it against his hip, and dribbled again. -

Refs struggling big time early on. Iowa should have no free throw attempts. Missed an over and back on Iowa. Missed a travel on Iowa. -
Ok, which one of us sunshine pumper wrote this?

The only problem with the "what if" game is that I think Miles brought out a bunch from this team after the GW debacle. If we win that game by 15 like we should have, do we come out and play like we do against Indiana and Maryland? I don't believe we win those games. I think it might have turned into a turning point, not just this season, but Miles' career. It turned him into being hard on this team, to bring out the best in them. Sometimes, when you put a fighter in the corner, he comes out swinging.

How do you think Tim gets all his scouting reports for games?

Watching the Michigan game, Walker for FSU is doing the same thing Barnett did for Tennessee. It just shows you, again, what an elite DE can do for you. It is something we desperately need.
-
We need a huge influx of talent, especially on the defensive side. You saw what an elite pass rusher can give you on the Tennessee side. Gates is a good OL, and he was getting abused most of the night. The offensive side will be alright, I think. We need the OL to live up to their potential. We need a QB who is accurate, can distribute the ball, can escape from pressure. Need to find a playmaker, either a RB, or a WR. I got a huge chuckle from the color guy on ESPN. He said Ryker Fyfe would get a look by an NFL team. He has ZERO shot to make an NFL team, let alone get a call from an NFL team.
-
I was thinking Webster has a little more length, which would cause more havoc up top, but really couldn't go wrong with either. Much like Morrow and Roby running the baseline. I was kind of intrigued by it, when coach Miles said in the pregame they were working on it in practice.
-
I think we can run a great 1-3-1 zone with Tai at the top, Watson and Taylor on the wings, Roby in the middle, and Morrow under the basket. You could play Jacobson/Jordy where Roby is and Roby under the basket. Great length and athleticism to allow you to get the guys on the floor that can put the ball in the hoop, and slow the other team down. The problem is there are not many teams in the Big 10 that struggle to shoot the ball from 3 point land.

The biggest change we had offensively was making 9 of 18 from beyond the arc. -

The question that will determine how successful our conference season is this a team who is a good 3 point shooting team, that was ice cold in the non conference, and the percentage is going to start going up to match that? Or, is this a poor shooting 3 point club, who just had a good night? -

Huskers.com usually has an archive of the radio broadcast. I used to find it, and sync the broadcast with the football game replays. The only bad part was that the radio archive would play the commercials. I just fast forward about 2 minutes per commercial, and pause the TV until they sync up again. -

Miles Just Punched His Ticket Today
brfrad replied to Huskerinexile's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I guess it is the matter of perspective. We could go the Rutgers route of scheduling. Go 11-1 in non conference, and then all you have to do is go 5-13 in conference to finish with a winning record. If we went that way, we are 0-1 in conference, as there is no way we win this game without having played Dayton, UCLA, Va Tech, Kansas, Creighton, Clemson. I would much rather play tough teams, even if it means, a possible losing record, than loading up on cupcakes, and finish with a winning record. Not only that, we have 7 underclassmen play meaningful minutes against the nation's toughest schedule. It not only helps us, playing in the Big 10 conference, but it will help us in the next few years. -

Horne is going to go through some struggles, and Jack is going to have to start making 3's. I have no problem with Miles trying to get Jack going in previous games. -

I saw only 1 bad play on defense by Horne, tonight. He was guarding his man on the wing, Indiana got the ball to Bryant at the top of the key, beyond the 3 point line. Horne left his man to go towards Bryant. Bryant passes to the guy Horne was on, and the Indiana guy buries a 3. Every player has that kind of play, though, but for the most part Horne played a very good all-around game. I thought Jordy played pretty well, given who he was going up against. A tough match-up, and Bryant went 5 for 12 from the floor. -
Nebraska (6-6) vs. Indiana (10-2) Game Thread

Horne is 7-11 from 3 in the last 2 games. That was something this team was missing, as evidenced by the 28 % from deep. In his previous 10 games, he was 2-10 from 3. McVeigh is very capable of going on a stretch like Horne has. Jordy is learning, he went up against a very good player, and helped hold him to 5 of 12 shooting. He just needs to build some strength to help him go inside against those guys.
