  1. Looks like we all will be shut out on this one. At least I hope so.
  2. Is everyone about ready for us to start playing games again? The only thing more boring than speculating about RPIs and reading the committee's mind is hearing the words dossier or memo.
  3. Huskers 68, "Its gophers, ya great git! The little brown furry rodents" 64
  4. I don't understand why no one has yet mentioned Izzo as our new coach since he is obviously gone at Michigan State and we will obviously not be considered for any postseason play regardless of how many games we win.
  5. Don't know if this will help, Dave, but this is my reaction on how the year may shake out if we are not picked (not taking the league tourney into consideration). A. 23 wins: utter disbelief and borderline paranoia , Lunardi-was -spotted-on-the-grassy-knoll mode B. 22 wins: profound disappointment, Nebraska- basketball- always- gets- disrespected- by- biased- and- indifferent- observers mode C. 21 wins: thanks for the season, guys, now let's- go- out- and- win- the- NIT mode D. 20 or below: Meh, about what I expected before the season began, let's- all- return -next- year and really plan to make some postseason noise mode. And, Dave, do not stress out over any of this. Chronic high anxiety levels have been shown to be associated with the development of Alzheimers, as well as most other serious health problems!
  6. Norman Dale is 88 today. Happy birthday, Gene.
  7. Sounds like someone should post a recipe for Buffalo crow wings in time for the Super Bowl.
  8. I knew it would be a pleasant start to the day to read the threads this morning. Fun to see the game thread turn at page 8. I don't have much to add to what everyone has already said but this will certainly put us in better moods for the next 7 days. Final thought: Kudos to those rabid cheesehead fans for initiating their mass early stalkout at a much later point in the game than our cornhusker stalwarts would have done. And to the gutty badger coaching staff for not letting us simply dribble out a double digit victory. After all, it would have been possible for them to hit four treys in the last 30 seconds if we had missed all of our free throws and they had gotten all of the rebounds. In fact, I think referee Valentine stopped the game at one point just to make certain it was a theoretic possibility.
  9. Jorge Brian Diaz with intensity and better feet.
  10. The Fran-o-meter intensity level seemed a bit low given the margin of victory. With an extension in his hip pocket, it looks like Fran just wants to get the year over. Too bad it isn't one of those years we play them twice.
  11. Axiom: Never eat at a place called Moms, never play poker with a person called Doc, and never trust the opinion of an expert named Shelby.
  12. Here's another one: Michigan State will soon be abolished as an institution and students will be allowed to transfer to the Ohio State University. Reputable sources saw the Buckeye mascot being fitted for a Greek warriors uniform yesterday.
  13. Well, I got the Sunday part right anyway. Guess it would have been hard for Bird to score 50 though since he retired in August of '92. Eh, what the hell...print the legend!
  14. Was it a Sunday game?
  15. Sometimes it just makes you want to give up. I sort of felt that way after enduring Bucky F...ing Dent, Bill Buckner's grounder, and Aaron Boone, then going down by three games in the 2004 playoffs....but then one never knows.
  16. It was KU I know. and the only objective evidence I could find was that Brian Rosenthal named it one of his "10 best wins" in a 2013 list. Don't know if it was a on a Sunday or not and whether it coincided with the Bird game. But as was once stated in a John Ford movie (The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance), "When the legend becomes fact, print the legend".
  17. While indulging in wandering down dusty corridors of my memory, I vaguely recall one of those rare Sunday games coinciding with a game Dick Vitalli called in which Terrance Badgett played a big role. Seems I remember picking up one of my college age sons at his dorm and missing part of a tv game in which Bird scored 50+ points for the Celtics. But my memory may be playing tricks. Better go check my E-bay to be sure.
  18. Well done jayschool. You may count me among your (online) KU friends as well. At the very least this qualifies us as a "Cinderella" team which would give the talking heads something to say on selection Sunday, and an hour-long Big 10 feature like Northwestern got on the network last night. This ,of course, assumes we get invited and win a game this time!
  19. While awaiting tomorrow's game I was overcome by a wave of nostalgia. As we all know this is defined as a ""wistful yearning for something past". I remember when my weekends were planned around bringing my family to Saturday games. These were mainly at night, sometimes in the afternoon, or very rarely on Sunday afternoon. The games were eagerly anticipated events around which meals were also planned. Now a Saturday night game is a dinosaur. Oh well, most kids today would rather sit around poking at their E-bays anyway.
  20. Remarkable finish. Have to wonder if Carr's end-of-game karma will ultimately cause us problems on selection Sunday. Let's just win out and we don't have to worry about it. I suppose this was part of Pat's ten year plan anyway.
  21. OK then, let's just win them all beginning tonight.
  22. Fun fact of the day: Rutgers, one of the oldest institutions in the U.S. was founded by a brewer. Free unlimited beer was served to students at every meal.
  23. You know, regarding Glynn I have seen this exact same situation on "Fringe". There was a good Walter and a bad Walter. I think we need to be looking around for dimensional worm holes if this keeps up.
