Disclaimer: I am not disparaging our thread, I just thought the LJS article added to it. Or did you mean we should have a 71 page thread on Frisco (one page for each resident)?
-
Someone may wish to post Basnett's piece in this morning's LJS. It succinctly summarizes who we should root for and why, where to see the games, and lots of other good stuff. The most interesting fact I gleaned is that Conference USA is playing their tournament in Frisco, Texas. I lived in Texas for five years and drove through the state numerous times and have never heard of Frisco. Is that where "The Last Picture Show" was made?

I do think it would be ok for them to check the water and withdraw their names when they discover how the NBA values their services this year. I would guess anyone on this year's team could improve his value by performing well here again next year. However, we really can't tell them what to do without fully knowing their family situations, their future aspirations after basketball, or their life experiences here in Nebraska. Of course, from a selfish standpoint we want everyone to return.

I liked the video with ZZ Top and Dale Jr and ....Kendra.

Cip, my gut agrees with yours. Must be all that yogurt my wife makes me eat. Nevertheless I will chip in $10 if I win the prediction contest. Should help defray the cost of the huge trophy involved.

I really don't see any prospect out there who would put us in a better place in the foreseeable future. An extension would seem the only option at present so might as well do it now. I don't think we have an AD eager to make another flashy coach hire to burnish his own reputation.

Congrats: A potential 6'9" power forward I hope. Now it is time for all to rise and shine, for it is Schadenfreude Sunday! Someone be sure to let me know who to root against today. I will be too entranced by the Oscars to figure it out myself. That is, until the awards get too boring and self important which usually comes at the 20 minute mark.

And there's nothing wrong with that...

Yes, I do plan to root for all of the favorites rather than the underdogs I usually like to see pull off a victory. And I have trouble seeing how Penn State steals the fifth Big 10 bid from us despite what the LJS implies this morning. In other words, when you shoot yourself in the foot, you still win the battle if your opponent shoots himself in the nuts. Just be sure to let me know who the favorites are so I don't have to look it up myself.

Well, I've slept on this and adjusted to the fact that we will probably end up on the NIT list despite finishing with 22 wins and finishing in fourth place in the prestigious Big 10. Will I be happy if we do well or win the NIT? The answer is.....NO! We have been there and done that. I can not shake the feeling that this team is one of the 68 best teams in the country and deserves to be in the only tournament which really matters. Since we are going to kick this around for the next nine days, I invite posters to use this thread to vent, describe ways we might make the cut for one of the "play in" games, show me how teams who are considered "locks" who are much worse than our team "deserve" to be included, or convince me that the NIT will be a great end to our year. Have at it so that we don't have a dozen threads making the same points to visit until selection Sunday finally comes. First question of the day: Will our team be one of those featured on national television sitting there expectantly so that the abject disappointment can be documented for all to see?

Michigan (25-7) vs. Nebraska (22-9) game thread
jimmykc replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Let us hope that this is not like the first appearance in the Big Apple which this team had. We have made a quantum leap since we faced St. Johns, so I hope the team believes this too. This game could otherwise make the next nine days quite gloomy. -

You mean we are not going with the now- legendary "Friday" song? -
Can we all call ourselves gizmologists now? Better than being proctologists. And it hit 40 this morning!

Miller makes a valid point if Ayton indeed signed with Arizona BEFORE alleged FBI taping took place. But the new American paradigm seems to be the leaker is always believed and the leakee is always covering up. Doubt Arizona would still have Miller on the payroll if there was any truth to the rumor.

I'm ok with Fran. He seems like one of those characters like Elmer Fudd whose periodic fits of rage are fun to watch.

What a great thread. Gets our minds off worrying about this year and jump starts our worrying about the next one.
-
How about our Big 10 games today? I would like to see Rutgers and Iowa win just because I don't care for their opponents' coaches.
-
Do we have any more of those Big 10 Friday night football games on the schedule? This would be perfect for the big screen to get Frost's boys pumped up before kickoff.

Nebraska on the Selection Committee Board
jimmykc replied to hhctony's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
And balance this out by what I have heard television announcers state this year (and one of them was HOF Bill Walton) 1. the Pac 12 deserves to get 10 teams in this year. The most competitive games in America are played in that league 2. There is no such thing as a bottom 5 teams in the Big 12 this year. They all deserve the same consideration for the NCAA bids... I realize that pot is legal on the west coast now, but I wasn't aware the trend had reached the Midwest yet. -
Welp, I guess we can forget about Shareef-he committed to UCLA.

Would that be the legendary huskercwgasaurus? -
I can't believe you guys stayed up that late last night watching those mediocre teams play. You could have been at my house and been sweating bullets over whether a spring training Red Sox team (at least they were wearing Red Sox uniforms) was going to hold off a team wearing Twins uniforms in the ninth. And , by the way, I'm pretty sure Oklahoma's 20 point loss to Baylor will make certain the Sooner's get a high seed in Loonari's brackets.
