Let's not forget Jay Randolf on the old Big 8 game of the week telecasts. And FYI, I believe Rafferty at one time was the head coach for the St. Peter Peacocks. Back to the original thread though, soon my children we will be a fixture on the National scene AND the collective consciousness.
Start him Saturday, he brings more to the table than Benny ball handling wise & scoring. Plus, I think Benny is more comfortable coming off the bench in a supporting role. That Gopher press ate Benny up, and you're reminded how vertically challenged he is.
We need to get FAT this next month record wise. Last 4 on schedule is a meat grinder, in a good way though. We get the Terps at home and we desperately need some marquee wins. What's that the kids say? oh yea GO BIG RED!
I expect us to win 2 outta 3 next week, Madtown will be tough, as will the Illini on Sunday. Goldy though, Goldy is ready to pack it in for the year. Now that the Death Star is fully operational I expect this squad to become very salty, very soon...
Akoy IS headed to Georgetown, and yes somehow I to think he has a touch of Biggs to him. I think he overestimates his ability and has a far better chance of selling insurance in Bellvue than playing in the NBA. I HAVE to believe there is a JUCO center out there who would LOVE to step into a starting role on a team with B1G Title aspirations.
OWH said Leslie is farther behind because he hasn't learned the plays. Huh? What could we possibly be doing that he is that unfamiliar with? Here's the only play he needs to know, " Get yer a** in there and get the ball"!
Well right now our offense consists of 2 things, Petteway ∨ Shields driving to the hoop, or Pitchford shooting a 3. Everyone else can't/won't shoot which is the same thing and a problem. Let's hope the Calvary is on the way (our Bigs) so MAYBE we free up some shooters.
Other than Bucky, this Conference is soft in the middle. We need to finish at LEAST 5th I'd say to make the Dance. I don't see a B1G team with a losing record in Conference getting an invite (which has happened in the past). Winning tonight at Iowa would be nice and certainly doable, but game 2 of your Conference slate is never a must win.
I think what this team needs now more than anything is to simply play games. This Holiday tournament couldn't come at a better time. Knock out 3 games in 5 days, get away from all the BS, and simply play some ball. I like our chances, and I think we come home with " the fire in the belly" ready to take on the Hoosiers.
