  1. That's such an odd flex to keep pushing on when we've only been in the top 50% of our conference standings 8 times since Danny Nee took over the program.
  2. It's tough. I've seen many examples how those numbers don't end up translating in a Nebraska uniform from high school or non-P6 (even P6). So that's the gamble. Or, in better terms, up to the professionals who do talent evaluation.
  3. In Hoiberg's system? I still think we need 45% FG, 35% 3P, and/or 5+ rebounds type of players to make it work. We even lack that on our own roster.
  4. The Athletic Department already gave you your answer to this.
  5. That explains why I haven't been seeing $0.25 drop into my ebays yet.
  6. Can't say I know any of these coaches, but did this guy end up with any penalties?
  7. All 358 NCAA teams experienced COVID. That's not unusual. What's unusual is losing so much that's you're literally the worst coach in Nebraska basketball history and refuse to adapt your philosophy or in-game schemes to have a fighting chance in the league. Hoiberg is much like Frost where he came into the league with a vastly different philosophy than the rest of the Big Ten and thought he could come in and roll over some of these teams. You look at a guy like Painter who is adamant about recruiting true centers and refuses to run zone because that's what works in the Big Ten but zone would work better in a league like the old Big East. That's a coach who exhibits situational awareness about the league he's in and adapts. Hoiberg hasn't exhibited that he can (or will) adapt. Even if we get our best recruiting classes every year, it's likely to flop until we find guys who can actually translate that into ~45% FG / ~35% 3P and can put in at least a moderate amount of defensive effort.
  8. (Disclaimer: reading this old thread might cause flashbacks of optimism and hope) At that moment when we thought we were at Rock Bottom:
  9. No further comments on the matter at this time: https://www.klkntv.com/nebraska-womens-basketball-moving-forward-after-dismissal-of-player-and-assistant-coach/
  10. You might have posted this in the wrong forum..... Was this intended for the Rick Pitino coaching thread?
  11. Skip to 7:20 to hear why Painter refuses to run zone:
  12. #87 RPI team, #60 SOS, #228 PPG (66.9), #147 APG (13.2), #41 FG% (46.5%), #146 FT% (70.0%), #273 3P% (32.1%), #136 RPG (35.5), #129 BPG (3.68), #156 SPG (6.48) Beat #13 Texas A&M, #3 Texas, #22 Missouri (Texas was #2 in one of the polls at least). If I try to remember how I felt at the time, this wasn't an overly talented team (in regards to the definition of "talent" and "athlete"), but scrappy. The effort was there. I do also remember thinking "I don't know who I'd trust with the ball to make a shot". Looking at the stats, they clearly played Doc-style tempo, but wow... solid 2-point shooting. Three-point shooting was to be desired. I would take an average team with grit and tenacity than a highest-rated squad in Nebraska basketball history that flops. Makes you appreciate those prior teams even more.
  13. Worst score gets dropped at the very end, so maybe that will help. Then again, I think we've all had some pretty bad picks already.
  14. I said there was a chance it would have occurred given similar scenarios. I work around data all the time and environment and context matters. I felt this additional context was relevant and mentioned such. That is all. I'm not sure why this got so much attention, and I guess I'm still a bit confused by that, if I struck something or not. No bad blood, whatsoever, definitely appreciate your contributions on this board.
  15. Once again. I'm not arguing that Hoiberg is the worst coach in Nebraska basketball history.
  16. More power to you for making the games. If you had to take a wild guess, what percentage would you say the arena has been full lately?
  17. Nobody? "...but given a 20-conference slate with even recent coaches, it likely isn't as uncommon as the OP has alluded to." I said that a with a 20-conference slate, it wouldn't be all that common for those coaches to have experience a 20-loss season. Nobody said that 3 years of 20-loss seasons was common. Understand what the argument is before introducing completely different arguments.

  19. It's hard to put a finger on the identity of this team. But it's not worth putting in the effort to figure that out if they're not going to put in the effort to play for 40 minutes. 20. Nobody said it was.
  21. Completely agree on that point. I mean, I pointed out the fact that he's statistically the worst coach in Nebraska basketball history (men's and women's). But cherry picking "ESPN" stats can be misleading. Yes, he has 20-loss seasons in every year but given a 20-conference slate with even recent coaches, it likely isn't as uncommon as the OP has alluded to.
  22. Regardless of instigation, escalation, etc. where it brewed up to that point, I don't know how you can expect your players to act professionally if your own coaches can't do that themselves.
  23. Let's not overblow this too much. Had some of our prior coaches had 20-game conference seasons, there's a chance Miles could have had 4 20-loss seasons, Sadler with 2, Collier with 2, Nee with 4, etc.
