  1. For what it's worth, one coach had two 4th place finishes in the conference. The last time we were that high in the standings was 1997-1998 with Danny Nee. Regardless of what coach got us those 4th place finishes, it's more of a point that our program isn't a top-half conference team. It was nice that we were able to buck that trend even just for a bit. If you normalize each of the team's conference finishes to a 14-team conference, here's where our coaches have fared. (Note that it's not until Joe Cipriano where we are consistently a top-half of the conference team.) Average Conference Standing by Coach (normalized to a 14-team conference): 1. Fred Hoiberg: 14.0 2. Adolph J. Lewndowski: 10.3 3. Doc Sadler: 10.1 4. Jerry Bush: 9.9 5. Tim Miles: 9.8 6. Barry Collier: 9.5 7. L. F. "Pop" Klein: 9.3 8. Danny Nee: 8.6 ... 15. Joe Cipriano: 6.9 16. Moe Iba: 5.8 ...
  2. Adolf Lewandowski had a better record than our current coach. Maybe we find a phone booth and try to dial him up? Nobody's going to rehire our old coaches; who cares if somebody liked one former coach and you don't, and vice versa? It's a weird flex. It was a much simpler time when we would get into discussions about how unobtainable Hoiberg would've been for this program and how we need to focus on coaches who had other means of proven success.
  3. It would be something like $15M. Hence why it would be critical for Alberts to work on some sort of contract restructuring during the offseason. Whether that means we budge and pay it all out over a longer period of time or convince Hoiberg to do something similar as Frost where he can get that same money through incentives.
  4. I hear there might be an opening at a Power-5 basketball school that can pay you millions to fail miserably. You should check it out!
  5. That's not entirely true, but in the right direction. You're also paying for multiple coaches and assistant coaches during that same time. So a $3.5M "saved" also needs to accpunt for the $2M (making that up) figure for the new coach. I'm no expert on our athletic budget situation, so I can't comment on that. But I'm certainly skeptical about it (and have been vocal about it even when he was here) when Moos went around spending our budget on facilities, coaches, etc.
  6. This is a very good point that was also in my head, but didn't put on "paper". Yes, you do have to consider what the $M impact is on future sales. But it's still going to be hard to justify that against $18.5M.
  7. You could argue that this program, who literally is at it's rock bottom, and isn't trying to reclaim some level of achievement like the football program, can take a backseat and is better off just sitting out until the buyout goes down. If his buyout was $5M he would've been fired a few games ago (of not, after this game). But we shot our shot and we missed bad. I'm on the state of apathy just getting comfortable with the fact we're likely dealing with this mess for a couple more seasons until it's palatable. You could go ahead and fire him and hire a new coach, but it's like we're spending $8M/year on a $2M coach and just doesn't make sense from a financial perspective. Just my opinion but who knows what this administration will do. If it was Moos still, he'd probably get a contract extension.
  8. We've never had a 0-and conference record in Nebraska basketball history. Some 1-9 sort of records. Never 0-and.
  9. You joke, but man.... I've learned sooooooo much about Adolf Lewandowski this year.
  10. From the 2023-2024 or the 2024-2025 season?
  11. I can't remember the details, but wasn't there some clause about taking an NBA front/backoffice job?
  12. Absolutely Embarrassing - 66 Minny-Embarrassing - 72
  13. I always forget. It's either "password" or "rockbottom".
  14. Highest paid coach in Nebraska basketball history. Worst performing coach in Nebraska basketball history. Talk about return on investment.
  15. That just sunk in. I need to wash off this shame now.
  16. This isn't an opinion, it's a fact. Fred Hoiberg is now the worst head coach in Nebraska men's basketball history. That's not even removing any coaches due to low sample size. Worst Winning Record at Nebraska: 1. Fred Hoiberg: 24%, 20-62 (5-46) (2019-2022) 2. Adolf J. Lewandowski: 28%, 24-63 (17-33) (1940-1945) 3. L. F. "Pop" Klein: 35%, 7-13 (3-7) (1945-1946) 4. T.J. Hewiat: 38%, 6-10 (6-2) (1909-1910) 5. Jerry Bush: 38%, 81-132 (39-79) (1954-1963) Worst Conference Record at Nebraska: 1. Fred Hoiberg: 10%, 20-62 (5-46) (2019-2022) 2. L. F. "Pop" Klein: 30%, 7-13 (3-7) (1945-1946) 3. Jerry Bush: 33%, 81-132 (39-79) (1954-1963) 4. Adolf J. Lewandowski: 34%, 24-63 (17-33) (1940-1945) 5. Doc Sadler: 35%, 101-89 (34-64) (2006-2012)
  17. My local store went out of stock this season.
  18. Adolf Lewandowski was 24-63. Hoiberg is currently 20-61.
