  1. CU does have a very nice team this year. With that said (being the anti-CU guy) they did catch Wisky on an off night. CU doubled the post all night and Wisky who traditionally is a good shooting team missed 14 straight 3's at one time. That won't happen often. Again, not to take anything away from their win as that is a very nice win for them, but not often is Wisky going to miss that many 3's. And a lot of them were wide open looks.
  2. Gill looks like he's pressing a lot. Trying to do too much. Hopefully once he lets the game come to him he will help us out. No way I'm throwing him under the bus after 2 games and having to sit an entire season. Here's to hoping he keeps working hard and plays well Saturday. La Tech won't be easy at all. We need a good home crowd.
  3. Yeah I was watching and it looked pretty nasty. Hope he's ok. 6'8 forward that is averaging 13 PPG after the first two games.
  4. I know there will be times this year where our offense will really struggle. I think we have a chance to be a good defensive team. But I am always optimistic for our beloved Huskers and I am a HUGE Tim Miles guy. Here's to hoping we have a fun, successful season! GBR!
  5. Sorry if this has been posted. Good read on Jack. Not a huge fan of the quote near the end about not being 100% sure if he would come back to NU next year or go pro (I assume near home). http://pickandroll.com.au/jack-mcveigh-shooting-big-10-elite/
  6. Oh, I just now see you have #23 on the schedule but have it listed as Clemson. So Clemson is listed twice. Should be @Clemson #62 and vs Creighton #23
  7. Non con: 312. Sacramento St. 134. Louisiana Tech 29. Dayton (11. UCLA or 194. Portland) (28. Texas A&M, 188. Cal St. Northridge, 68. New Mexico, 48. Virginia Tech) 62. @ Clemson 293. South Dakota 23. Clemson 3. at Kansas 246. Gardner-Webb 271. Southern For RPI purposes, that Dayton game becomes huge and nobody except a few of us diehards back here will be watching. Win it and you play a couple more games that are RPI boosters. Lose it and you run the risk of playing two teams with RPI's below 150, which just doesn't help things. Creighton #23 (for the non conference schedule) Our Non-Conference schedule is tough!
  8. MJ. He reminds me so much of Ubel. You just see him get better and better each year. Hard worker, good teammate, loves the dirty work. I also think overall our sophomore class is very solid. Morrow may increase the most in stats due to his limited minutes last year with his bad feet.
  9. I have no idea what to expect from this years team. I will say, from everything you read, see, the guys seem to really bond well together. That alone can go a long ways in a successful year. We definitely lack that experience, but at the same time, in this day in age, a LOT of team tend to be young due to transfers, early departures to play pro ball of some kind. My hope is this team plays with a huge chip on their shoulder. Nobody is talking about them, nobody thinks they will be any good. I think athletically NU is better than we have been for several years. My one worry this year is how we will score. I think NU has the chance to be much better defensively this year. Especially with a big man in the middle to hold down the paint. Add in the weight gain by Jacobson and Morrow and I think we should be a much improved defensive team. I LOVE Watson. Think he will be a stud when all is said and done. Ice in his veins type kid. Fearless. Tai will be good for us this year. He showed great improvement last year. Gill is an unknown simply because you never know what you will get from a transfer. If he can fit in the way Pitch, TP and White did, he will do great. McVeigh I am hoping is that guy that can open up driving lanes with his shooting. He's also a very "smart IQ" guy. The freshman look good on paper, but until we see them play we don't know. I think Roby physically has a chance to do very well this year. Just hope he stays healthy. I'm excited for this year. I like that nobody thinks we will be any good. Takes pressure off the young guys and makes them hungry to prove people wrong. I think it will be a very interesting year. Being young, I'm sure we will look great on some nights and not so great on other nights. But I see this team getting better and better as the year goes on and I think they will fight like hell for one another.
  10. I have also heard he wants to go to a school that is closer to home (I wanna say he's from Arizona?). So even if NU/CU were interested more, it is no guarantee he would stick around this area since he isn't from here.
  11. Chubbick Sr. in my opinion is coming off extremely childish in all of this. I understand you want to protect your players, but nobody is forcing him to go on 1620 or interview with the paper. Does he not think these things happen all the time? And as I pointed out earlier, when he pulls a kid from Central, Benson, etc....does he not feel he is screwing over other coaches? Or what about the 700+ kids that bale on the team and transfer every year from all the D1 schools? Aren't they dicking over the coaches/team? People can say what they want about burning bridges, at the end of the day if a kid wants to come to NU, he will. If he doesn't, my guess is he isn't going to say "Well Chubbick Sr. doesn't like Miles, so I better not go there." They will do what is best for them.
  12. Barry Collier went the "local route" as well and got himself fired. If you win games, people will forget all of this. If you lose, people MAY bring it up. People have a short memory about these things. Could it potentially hurt getting a local kid to come here? Possibly? But Nick Bahe brings up that NU hasn't signed a local kids since 2002. But who really at the time could have come in and helped a lot? Maybe Josh Jones and Antoine Young? But even then, they were playing in the Valley which isn't the Big 12/B10. Just my opinion. Oh, Gessell could have helped for sure. I'm sure I'm missing a few. Bottom line is this, some of the kids didn't want to come here either. That's the reality of it. Not for a lack of effort always by the coaches. But you don't coach D1 basketball and worry about hurting a few of the local fan bases feelings. IF NU would go out and have a great year, nobody worries one bit about losing Arop.
  13. I'm curious if Chubbick Sr. gets this upset when a kid from Central, Benson, Burke, Omaha North, etc....leave that school to come to Omaha South? I mean after all, you have to be loyal right?
  14. Miles was in attendance to see Allen today
  15. The biggest thing in my opinion for NU to be successful defensively is that we have to hope and pray that between Jordy, a healthy Morrow and Jacobson we can clog the paint and defend the paint better without having to double in the post as much. Having a big frame like Jordy in the middle hopefully will help us in that area. When you double the post, you leave shooters open which leads to good shots. When you double the post, you leave cutters open which leads to stupid fouls. If our bigs can do a better job of defending and clogging the lane that will help a TON. We were a poor rebounding team at times as well last year so hopefully after another year in the system for our bigs, a healthy Morrow and a big man in Jordy that will improve us. Outside shooting will definitely be a concern as well. We kind of know what we will get in White. We need guys like McVeigh, Gill and Webster to really improve their outside shots. Maybe Fuller can specifically focus on only 3 point shooting and give us some nice minutes as well at times. Even Watson I think will improve on 3 point shooting from year to year. I'm excited about the pieces we have and I think it should be a fun season! You have to think our freshman will only get better, stronger and mentally tougher after being thrown to the wolves last year. I like this sophomore group a LOT and think they will be a good building step for our program.
  16. As a Nebrasketball fan you have that slight pessimism that you are going to wake up and see that he had chosen to go elsewhere. After refreshing twitter 30,000 times this morning, it was so refreshing seeing him chose NU! Nobody is calling this guy a "savior" but its so damn refreshing to have an athletic big man on the roster now! Filling a much needed void!
  17. Sorry to start a new thread. Jordy just now tweeted out that all 3 visits went great...but who got the best fans? Time to hit to twitter and give the man some love! Here's to hoping for some good news on Monday!
  18. Like if White decides to play professionally it's mainly because he hates Miles and not because he believes he can make it onto a NBA squad or somewhere in the pros? Please tell me why you believe he makes an NBA squad. Yes, especially when my source said he is tired of the sideshow and just wants to play ball. Keep in mind when I say that, it is know who AW is as a person. How many guys leave early to go play in Europe? Watson in Omaha is a better player than White, it's NBA or college not Professional anywhere over college. What's the lifestyle of a Euro ball player like... I've heard mixed things on it. The reality will be we lost an good college player, on top of all the coaching changes and challenged in a time period of unquestionable support for the program from the school and fans. I will still support the program but my outlook of where I see Tim Miles getting this program before he leaves. Not a lot of players leave early to play overseas. The big difference here is that he has already graduated. So he has his degree in hand. Now he has a chance to possibly make some good $ either in the NBA or overseas. If it is overseas, that gives him some good competition to go against and maybe better himself while making a decent paycheck? I really hope AWIII comes back, but I can understand if he doesn't.
  19. They have 6 scholarships available. So do they try and take him and his brother to make a good deal? New staff for UNLV, so I hope we can keep him.
  20. On Tunnel talk it says Jordy is going to make a visit to UNLV. Boo!!
  21. This! Back in the day it was two guards, two forwards and a center. Now we have a "stretch 4" "power 4" "power 5" "small guard" "shooting guard" etc. You just match up with your opponents the best of your abilities. Plain and simple.
  22. Here is a list of 40 guys invited to NBA camps so far. No AW III https://www.sny.tv/college-recruiting/news/nba-draft-combine-invites-coming-out/175455224
