Talked to Tris last night after he committed. Coach Smith is the main reason he committed. So happy that Smith found a head coaching job but man do I miss having him here. Great coach and always has a way of relating to the kids. Tris will fit in really well at USD.

Tris is down to USD and SDSU after I talked to him the other night. He'll be a great fit for either team but would be cool to see him play for coach Smith

Will be the best athlete that Rutgers has ever seen

They look closer to low to middle of the pack Missouri Valley teams to me in terms of quality. Ya NAIA teams is definitely pushing it. Middle of the pack Missouri Valley times is much more accurate. These are still pro teams so they are definitely talented, but lack the athleticism that American's have

Golden St vs Cleveland

The man has never gotten into legal trouble or had a scandal, despite being in the national spotlight since he was in high school. By all accounts he's highly intelligent, an active father, and an overall solid role model. Compare that with the average professional athlete today who does far worse while under a much smaller microscope. And you want to complain about a one-hour TV broadcast, which he agreed to do in exchange for raising $6 million for charity? It always amazes me how many sports fans are able to separate on- and off-field performance for everyone other than LeBron. They can literally cheer for criminals, and yet hold a grudge against a guy for a couple arrogant statements made five years ago. Being a good Father, staying out of jail, and not beating your wife is what you're SUPPOSED to do, and shouldn't be overly celebrated. He's freakishly athletic, big, but I've always considered him an average shooter and highly overrated. I hope the Warriors take 'em in 4. He's an above average shooter, but to call him highly overrated is definitely pushing it. I'm someone that disagreed with the way he handled the transition to Miami, but since then I feel like off the court he's become much more respectable. But with that being said, if you don't respect him as the best player in the world, you're out of your mind. -
"We're going to find someone good." Check.

Why is it so incredible? 1. Go from an average assistant in Harriman to an assistant from a top 10 program. 2. Might bring a 4* PF with him who is immediately ready to play. 3. Furthering of the Chicago pipeline. I'm not sure I would call Harriman an "average" assistant. He was much better than average in my opinion -
Greg is way too slow to play at the Big 10 level
-
Alonzo Moore. He would've started for Nebraska basketball this year
-
Coached him for awhile. Great player and even better kid. Gonna be a hell of a player at the next level if he keeps developing at the rate he has so far

Banham is returning for her senior year. And yes, both Emily and T are headed overseas

Talk about HS basketball talent in NE
Miles ahead of the rest replied to Norm Peterson's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Once again, size and athleticism. In D1 Mens basketball, you must have size and premier athleticism to play at that level, especially in today's game. In the girls game, while those two are important, they aren't always needed. The game of womens basketball isn't about who's more athletic in most cases, it's about who is more skilled. When girls are brought up playing the game, they are focused on fundamentals of the game because they can control that stuff, and in order to be a solid women's basketball player, you must be fundamentally sound. In the men's game, you can skate by on pure athleticism and not being as fundamentally sound. We see it happen all the time these days. (By the way, this is not a shot at women's basketball or their talent because I'm a huge women's basketball advocate) -

Size and athleticism. That's mainly what it comes down to -

Even during the starting lineups I noticed it. At state, they always announce both teams and then they meet at half court and all shake hands. He stayed back for awhile and almost had that feel of "I'll wait for them to come to me because I'm better than this" sort of thing. Maybe it was just me over thinking it but that's how it really came off -

Ya I would say some issues of knowing he's a big time recruit plays into laziness. -

They didn't necessarily shut him down as much as he shot himself down. The first 2 shots he took were both 3's and both were AWFUL shots. The second one, he brought the ball up himself, took one dribble in between the legs and pulled up and threw it off the glass and almost broke the backboard. He plays no defense and jogs back half the time on defense. I'm not impressed with the kid whatsoever. He has no discipline on either end of the court. My only positive note I'll give on him, is that as athletic and long as he is, IF he can develop into a solid outside shooter, he could stretch the floor for CU. He is the spitting image of walter's offensive game last year to make a comparison. -
There is no broadcaster I'd rather listen to in the country than Kent. The enthusiasm he brings with every game is phenomenal. Many road games, I choose to turn the tv down and use Kent and Matt as the commentary. Nebraska basketball isn't the same without those two. Win or loss, I listen to every pregame and every postgame. Love both of you guys and wouldn't have it any other way. Thanks guys!

Will he stay or will he go?

As much as I want to agree with you, this is not all that accurate. The NBA is about money. There's no if's, and's, or but's about it. If there is a 19 year old kid that may be slightly less talented and developed at the time next year, most teams will take him because of upside than taking a 23 year old. That's just how it is these days. In many cases, players are looked down upon for staying in school all 4 years. I hate that this is the way it is, but its true. -

I don't disagree with you. I think he deserved honorable mention. All I'm saying is that I'm not all that surprised with how inconsistent he was down the stretch. -

Did you see some of the players on the HM? Some players didn't even average double figures. I'm with KLDM here. He was way too inconsistent throughout conference play. I do think he was deserving, but I think KLDM was spot on in saying it's not all that surprising that he was snubbed. But Auroran, I agree that he was probably more deserving than a couple of the people on the honorable mention list.
