Don't forget...Coach Hunter isn't the *only* new guy today...
uneblinstu replied to 49r's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
What show is that? Might want to go hunt those podcasts... -
Well, BR did put this out there: https://twitter.com/HuskerExtraBR/status/344124752018944000

Also, I think when JT3 didn't move him into the top assistant spot, I'm sure that had some role in him listening to Miles offer when it came.

Hunter's the only departure that doesn't make sense, though. The other two are upgrades from their current positions. I think Hunter got a decent raise in coming here, too...

Reason # 2354 why I don't like to watch the NBA
uneblinstu replied to Silverbacked1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I watched the fourth quarter of game 1 and that shot by Parker was one of the most audacious shots i've ever seen. -
Maybe try this one instead. http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-Vintage-1996-NEBRASKA-BASKETBALL-CornHuskers-Limited-Pewter-Belt-Buckle-LE/160793733032?_trksid=p2047675.m1985&_trkparms=aid%3D444000%26algo%3DSOI.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D13%26meid%3D8190715057122879849%26pid%3D100012%26prg%3D1014%26rk%3D3%26sd%3D160793684495%26

Yeah, I'm glad no one was hurt, too. But my first thought was please tell me he wasn't drinking. They don't suspend you for fender benders. They only suspend you for the bender before you hit the fender. Judging by what we've heard about Petteway, I would have found it very difficult to believe that alcohol would have been involved at that time of day. HWY 2 is busy around that time, probably was texting or something and swerved and corrected. Sounds like that's probably about what it is.

Having Menke tie up a scholarship for two years ... That just ... I hate to knock the kid, but ... Wow. There aren't enough scholarships in basketball to set any aside to give to "deserving" walkons like there is in football. That's like voluntarily limiting yourself to 12 spots for 2 years. Have we also put ourselves on probation and banned ourselves from post-season for 2 years as well? You could commit some major recruiting violations and the NCAA wouldn't even hit you that hard. Except, I don't think they "set any aside". Last year was a mess, which is fairly common the first year, as I understand it as things get settled. This year, they didn't find (or haven't found) someone to fill that scholarship that fits what Miles is looking for and I know they don't want to be filling scholies just to fill them which it seemed Doc was guilty of at times and it really hurt the program. So, if you can't fill the scholarship with the type of guy you want, give it to the kid that will best help your APR which needs a little rehabbing anyway and everybody wins. But to say they held it back for this purpose, I don't think is accurate. And that's still possible. That could happen right up until the fall semester starts. Things shift around all the time.

he turned 18 a week ago. so yes. Shavon just turned 19 today. Then you'd expect their decision making *should* improve while they're here.

Tai was pretty young for his grade level, wan't he?
-
IIRC, Tai joined the team late, which makes me wonder how many of his teammates were in a similar situaiton. Gotta be hard to learn offensive and defensive systems and develop team chemistry that quickly. (Another reason why Tai needs to get here...) So, if tha'ts true, it's not hard to believe why they're struggling.

If you could vote a post up more than once, then I would have voted it up at least 5 times...This news is obviously very good for Nebraska. I'm probably going to keep holding my breath until Rosenthal retweets it and makes it official. Wisdom

Im not always great at the comparison game, but I see a little Evan Turner in his game, maybe missing the step back jumper. -

I cleaned it up a bit. Don't see a way to insert a table, but I think you should be able to make it out better. -

Ay New Info on Player Development Progress?

I'm sure there will be a touching base story by LeeB or BR at some point this summer, but I don't really expect to hear much until the fall. -
Last round of tours, so we're bound to see some pictures today. Here's a couple early ones: https://twitter.com/LJSPascale/status/340469068991692801

from watching the vid you posted, im more in favor of them than i was before, but im still in wait and see mode...at this point if were recruiting a 6'10'' kid at 240 id prefer him to be athletic, but i like the comparison to JBD but i feel like given are current roster a center more like Maric is what we need, or a skilled big man that can pass from the high post..i like this kid...just not as a Plan A or B recruit. I think he can bulk up to a point where he's probably similar in size to Maric. I think he finishes at the rim better than Maric. JBD largely did that well. I think he's plays with more aggression than JBD did. I think he ends up somewhere in between what those two were. if he can end up like that, id take him I don't know that he has the game of either of those two, but I see a lot of similarities to JBD with a bigger frame.
