  1. Mike Daum is the poster child here. He turned into a super star at SDSU. That likely wouldn't have been the result here, but he's still playing overseas. He could have contributed here. Probably in a big way. I think Schierman could have worked his way into a major rotation piece, but when you switch up all the variables, who knows what would have happened in reality. I think they had enough talent and intangibles to have worked their way into the rotation. That said, Miles really struggled with this, there were several players that could have contributed more than they did but didn't get a chance to play until he had no other choice. I think it's possible that players like that could have had similar situations.
  2. Easy to say now. I think he was getting more of that than he actually ended up getting. I think by the time he said that about Dawson he had pressed all the buttons and hoped that would shake them up. It didn't.
  3. IDK if you build around him yet, but Fred said after Dawson got here he dove for more loose balls in practice than the rest of the roster combined had up to that point (roughly translated). They need more guys like that. It also speaks to what's missing on the current rotation. When Briedenbach was on he floor, it was glaring how he was willing to get on the floor for a loose ball and everyone else seems to actively avoid having to do that. Honestly, I think it drives Fred crazy...
  4. Remember what Memorial Stadium was like for Mike Riley's last game? Get ready for that. There's already the lowest volume of tickets available on Stub hub than there has been in a couple of months.
  5. I'd expect about 10K there on Friday...with a lot of them being Iowa fans...
  6. Mad love to the tri-color Expos cap.
  7. I think that's the worst of it. It's ALL bad. There's not really one thing you can point to and say, "well, at least this is working". Every part of the program right now is broken.
  8. I watched the last 5 minutes of the Iowa-Ohio State game. There was an intensity and toughness demonstrated by both teams that I don't think I've ever seen NU be able to display with any sort of regularity. Iowa got 20 offensive rebounds. That's a mentality thing. I'd love to see NU embody that kind of thing. Iowa is an offense first program and they still out hustle and out tough teams. It can be done. If a change is made, it doesn't have to be a return to the days of we're going to play good, hard defense and make the game as ugly as possible and beat maybe beat you 48-45. I hope we don't over correct like that.
  9. Just gotta get the lawyering figured out
  10. You're not going to believe this, but they lost again.
  11. IDK what happens, but there's something that I appreciate about them recruiting like they still plan to be here for a while.
  12. I've always liked Jon. I really thought he was the heir apparent to Lee B. I was sad when he took the CU beat.
  13. Hey, they didn't lose by 30!
  14. As wilhelm gains mass and experience, he’s going to be a real problem for B1G opponents
  15. Menu is still coming together. Fried chicken abd pizza is currently the front runner. Rams - 30 Bengals - 17
  16. If Fred stays, I don't think it flips as much as some think. I legitimately have no idea what Trev's going to do and I'm not going to make an argument one way or the other. If this incoming class fits together better and he can find a pg in the portal, you should know whether or not it'll be worth staying the course by the end of next season. I am intrigued by what is in that class and would like to see them play here, but if Trev thinks Fred's not the guy, that shouldn't factor into his decision.
  17. And if he's as fluid as people say and Ed keeps developing, that could be a nice little situation. Not likely that it will play out like that, especially if/when a change is made, but kinda fun to think about for a sec.
  18. I don't know how much to expect from Oleg, but Wilhelm, Walker and Kieta should be a nice front court. Hopefully Wilhelm will be ready to go by the start of the season, but I could see him needing some time to get back into game shape.
  19. The quartet I've brought up have shot it .399 since the KState game. Webster has fallen off the pace. Lat and Verge have picked it up. KT, CW, AV are all over .410. On a more complete team, KT and CW would serve as really nice role players.
  20. I heard the statement Robin made about DW returning a couple weeks ago. I don't know if that's reality or not, but it'd be nice if it did. That's a super useful piece to have in place.
  21. Wilcher started 1/9 from 3 in the first two games of conference play. He's shooting .488 since (21/41). I like watching him shoot. Walker leads the conference in fg%.
  22. Watching the game this morning and last night is closer to what it it's supposed to look like (other than the free throw shooting). If that effort and intensity had been present for more of the year, things would be a lot different around here.
  23. Didn't get to watch the whole thing, but what I saw looked mostly good. Nice to win for a change!
  24. Knowing what power 5 basketball looks like is more important than having Big Ten ties, IMO. I know it was a major adjustment for Miles to find his eye for Power 5 level players. Eliminating that learning curve would be a good start. Having local, midwest relationships would be a big plus as well. We obviously need to get a ton better defensively and rebounding, but I'd also like to not go back to consistent rock fights either...
