  1. I think I'm ready to type something outloud that I've been thinking about for a bit: I don't think I want Trey back next year... Much like his brother, he seems like a great kid and has done everything right in his time here. His injury was a killer for this team and he's a very good defender, maybe better than that, so if he did come back, he'd of course be valuable. But time and time again, when the game is on the line, he seems to make the wrong decision more often than not. He rarely seemed to settle the situation down and often tried to take on too much on his own. Am I crazy to have that thought?
  2. The difference I’d those tournaments don’t have anything attached to them. Winning them doesn’t give them an auto bid to state. I don’t think you keep conference tournaments around if there’s not a tie into the ncaa tournament
  3. Or the 10th year of the Kelvin Sampson regime?
  4. He's been known to recruit a big man or two in his day, too.
  5. That wouldn't surprise me. I know Miles had him in for a visit, though. IIRC, I think we were in the running til the end. Someone can check my math on that.
  6. Brad Davison did at least have several B1G level offers...including at DONU.
  7. New York, Ohio, Atlanta, would be good places to be involved. Good AAU relationships, I would think would be imperative.
  8. IDK. Just throwing out some ideas. I also think he's a good coach, but another offensive mind. Could be helpful in reestablishing some local relationships.
  9. I think you go after him if he fits what we want to go whether or not DW comes back
  10. I wonder if he’ll consider someone like Derrin Hansen.
  11. With all the roster movement happening, I’d have to think there’s room to get this kid on board*. I think it would do the program a lot of good on a lot of fronts. *I say this with the caveat that I’ve never seen the kid play, just going off what I’ve heard from several others.
  12. It’s apples to oranges, to me. Football has a storied tradition and Riley was brought in under dubious circumstances. Doc was brought in after NU was kind of last holding the bag when Collier jumped ship in the summer. People thought he should have been fired in the first place and wanted him out. Then doc went and put likable, relatable teams on the court. And people liked him. While Riley himself may have been likable, just about everything else was a mess.
  13. NU would have to grant him a release, which they will if he requests it. Robin’s talked about this a lot over the years, but almost no school denies that request anymore. Puts the school in seriously bad graces on recruiting circles. Most don’t want to have that associated with their program.
  14. You can find guards. They’re everywhere. Just have to do a better job picking the right fits. Finding the right front court pieces is much harder. Kieta is a much bigger priority. Hopefully they figure out how to keep him in the fold.
  15. Sometimes you gotta get em here first then the transition happens.
  16. Rough to have to lose a job from the same school twice...
  17. I guess that depends on how you want to look at it. I think there are 7-8 players that were in the program that will be back next year. Maybe more. That's a lot more stable than we've seen so far. The problem is that most of those players weren't in the rotation... I think we're still looking at 5, maybe 6, new players coming into the program, which is a lot, but seems to be more closer to the norm across college basketball lately with all the transfers that happen now. I don't think the sky is falling in that regard.
  18. I've referenced Gary Sharp a lo lately...but his mantra for this offseason has been to find "fit over talent". If they actually do that, I think they'll have a shot at significant improvement next year. If they don't, they won't.
  19. Dawson and Lawrence say it's not going to affect their decision. The other two said they'll have to review their options.
  20. Played for UNO and also got his coaching career started there.
  21. Players go to coaches all the time. That’s the nature of things right now. Speaks for Matt’s skill at building and maintaining relationships.
