Minnesota is the most balanced program. I kinda chuckled at that.

Problem with "The Vault" is what happens when they rename X many years down the road? We lose all reference unless a bank buys the name rights. Wait, what? The whale? We did a Beach Party night for the USC game two years ago. I bought a big inflatable orca whale to bring to the game to crowd surf through the student section during free throws. During warm ups the players were getting a kick out of it and Mike Fox asked if we could crowd surf someone on it. We put our tiny roommate on it, lifted him up, and hilarity ensued. Pretty soon your friendly neighborhood campus cops were all over us threatening to throw us out. They ended up confiscating my whale and giving me my one warning before the game even started. I got it back after the cop made me wait 30 minutes after the game. He then informed me if we ever brought it back he'd knife it and escort me out. That would have been awesome.

Email him. He might. I doubt he'd be able to embroider them, but he could perhaps come up with a #Nebrasketball version.

That said, there's you KNOW you're defeated when you hear it. They almost never do it too early and when you're in Allen Fieldhouse and it happens, it's the most hauntingly beautiful thing you've ever heard...and I've heard it a lot as a Nebrasketball fan. I'd love for NU to have something like that. Wait, what? The whale?

They've been ready for a long time. Follow the link below.

It's also a recruiting violation. Everything on twitter is a recruiting violation It's the jaywalking of violations I know, but it was fun to poke the bear on Twitter.

Norm, I've been to a couple other arenas and I'd say that it's definitely a different kind of loud, if that makes sense. The Devaney Center could get loud. Very loud at times, but, take Allen Fieldhouse for instance, when KU got on one of their famous runs, their fans didn't just get loud, they got suffocating. I don't really know how to describe, it, but it was a case where all 16,000 fans were in full throat together and most of the time the opponent would just wilt. NU can get loud on a decibel meter, but it's a different kind of loud than what the Bob was. No TV broadcast has ever fully portrayed what i heard at AFH. It was worse than any football game I've ever been to. Part of it is just having an arena full of people that are engrossed in the game and want to be a part of it. It's (for the most part) not a social event in Lawrence, people aren't there to socialize, they're there to watch basketball and do their part to help the Jayhawks win. It's a party, not a gathering.

Do we break .500 in nonconference?
uneblinstu replied to PimpMario's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Maybe, but a couple will also be better, like Iowa and, I think, Penn St., for instance. It will be interesting to see how Illinois and Minnesota fare this year. they both lose a lot of talent and, in Minnesota's case, are almost starting from scratch with Pitino. Groce loses a lot of talent too. I wouldn't assume Indiana, Michigan, Michigan St and Wisconsin. will take significant steps back, though. They probably won't be as good as they were last year, but they'll still be very strong. -
I'm curious how many of those fans that left early were fans that only had tickets because they were thrown in with their football donations. Since those aren't tied together anymore, hopefully, that will help, assuming that's where many of that pool came from. Also, I think a lot of those fans had courtside tickets. I know a lot of fans that are a lot closer to the court than they were in the past. If you were above the B level in the Bob and are in the lower bowl now, I'm talking to you. We need the fans closest to the court to lead the charge. Most of the old STH's are in the 200 level or lower. The new fans in the 300 level are a bit of a wild card. Will the be loud and enthusiastic? Will the be focused on the game? Or are they just there for the shiny new toy factor? If they're there for the hoops as much as the newness factor, then it's got a chance to be VERY, VERY loud when the team is playing well, which is key, they'll have to play well. I've heard Sam McKewon mention this before, and if you've ever been to a women's game, you know this to be true, but all the hard core fans have the best seats. They're loud, and active and they impact the game. NU men's hoops needs that same thing. They need more of their best fans close to the court, and I think more of them will be.

It's also a recruiting violation.

Hmmm, interesting. I don't know if he would have started (though I tend to think he would, at least at the beginning) or not but he would have been a significant contributor. I have little doubt about that. -
The Creighton inanity moved to the College Basketball conversation. You all can throw your tomatoes at Creighton Fan over there. Probably should have cleaned it up sooner, my bad. Carry on.
-
They'll have the ability to make it uniform all the way around.
-
I hate Creighton more than anything. Yes we've lost a bunch of times in Omaha. But lets just say we've lost 9 in a row in Omaha. Still bad but sounds way better than saying that we haven't won for 20 years. I'll let you run with that. Go for it!

That's more myth than reality. He may not have waded in as deep as others, but every domestic high school player he signed, and Diaz may have been too, played the AAU circuit. He went to those tournaments. His assistants, though, definitely were not as well connected as Miles' are
-
I'd build off of this and say everything Miles has done so far is above and beyond his predecessors. Twitter, getting out in the public, involving the students and fans, humor, coaching staff, recruiting, personality, etc. I mean the list could go on how Tim and the coaching staff are light years ahead. Now when he gets that first NCAA win he can sign his lifetime contract with how happy NU fans will be. In fairness, Doc was pretty engaging early on and I know they went to dorms and tried to get students involved. People loved him and called him basketball's Devaney. Doc didn't lack in that department. It was a different style, perhaps than Miles, but I don't think Miles had him beat in that regard.
-
It's the convergence of several different things. It's the athletic department putting more money into it, not just facilities, but the use of a private plane, which wasn't available until recently and the salaries they're giving his coaches. The facilities are part of it and Miles seems to have what Collier and Sadler didn't and that's a proven plan, that he's sticking to. He's also hired assistants with great recruiting ties that I don't think Barry or Doc were able to bring in. It's been several different things coming together that have led us here. That said, we really aren't anywhere yet. He hasn't actually gone out and won anything. So, before he can accept his crown, he probably has to do that first...
-
Uh, if we don't win this year, we'll go 20 years without beating the Jays in Omaha during the regular season. That's unacceptable.
-
C'mon now. We didn't out draw Duke because the fanbase liked Miles. We outdrew Duke because Duke plays in a tiny gym. If they played in a more conventional size gym, they'd have lapped NU in attendance. They choose to limit their attendance figures.
