Do YOU teach English kind sir? Placing a semicolon after the word offer, is perfectly acceptable. Actually, grammatically, the way it was written was correct. It simply left room for interpretation as to exactly what was meant.

And no, a semicolon after "offer" in the above tweet would not make sense grammatically.
A semicolon goes between two complete thoughts (i.e. sentences) which are related closely enough so as to not need a period. "From Nebraska" is not a complete thought.
