Nebraska (11-6-1) vs. Creighton (7-7) Game Thread

Omaha and CU's skipper's have coached circles around Bolt the past couple years. Just not making mistakes and let us beat ourselves and we do 90% of the time., -

Lucky for them one of the top mid major coaches in the country is a CU lifer and his kid is All-American caliber. -
Michael Jacobson is the first that came to mind…

I kinda hope we prioritize key guys on successful teams again over the stars on unsuccessful teams.
-
BTW this is how I felt trying to explain that...

I guess in my brain it comes down to this. If there was zero risk he wouldn't qualify, he wouldn't have been in the portal - so it's hard for me to be annoyed that we missed out on him, because the fact he was a risk to get cleared was the only reason we had a shot at him in the 1st place.
-
Here’s my problem with the sentiment that he was “ours”. Wouldn’t he have never left UF if he was cleared there? Shouldn’t they be the ones complaining? Just something to consider!

How close were we? = How close are we?
The Polish Rifle replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I think Fred finally has the right staff in place. We get the right 2-3 transfers in and all bets are off. I hate calling year 4, “year 1” but if you consider that it was an entirely new staff and we played that well…what kind of jump can they make in “year 2”. -
After watching a lot of tournament games the past 4 days, I think I have the answer to ‘how close are we’….and it’s, pretty fricken close.
-
So we blame this thread for CU looking like the best team in the country so far?

Chucky is only 19, probably only 1 year older than Lawrence, though they could be the same age. Shot better from 3 than Keisei this year and still has a ton of growth in front of him. He would be a home run get in the portal. -

What are the AD expectations for Fred next year?
The Polish Rifle replied to huskerbill85's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Here’s the formula to dancing. Schedule 3 tough non-con games. Win one, in the other 2 slow the game to a snails pace so your 4 point defeat is a NET dream scenario. Go .500 in B1G play. Most importantly - beat the absolute pants off the scrubs on your schedule. I’m talking all gas, no brakes, full speed, beat downs. Make their coach complain to ESPN after the game that you were full court pressing up 35. -

2018 makes a lot more sense now. That’s mid major resume. -

No P5 teams set the expectation at NIT. NCAA Tournament is the goal of every P5 program (at some it’s the minimum goal). I would say at Nebraska the expectation should be NCAAs every third season. Part of the reason I think Fred needs to be NCAA bound or damn close (NIT 1 seed, first 4 out) next year. -
Winning/Losing is devalued in favor of offense/defense efficiency. Ohio St losing pretty > Nebraska winning ugly in the eyes of the NET.
-
They were NET darlings. NIT committee is lazy and just uses metrics. We had a higher win% in the B1G than they had in the freaking AAC.
-
I caught shit from the CU fans on another husker board for this, but Creighton’s resume is kinda terrible. Losing record against Q1-Q2 teams. KPI and RPI in the mid 40s. 1 decent win in the non-con. 2 top 25 wins both came at the CHI. Best true road win is Seton Hall. The predictive metrics like NET and Ken Pom are holding them up like they are Ohio St. They honestly belong on the 8-9 line.
-
If there were other solid teams going it would be one thing. That was 12 years ago, it’s a different tournament now. The last P5 team to go was DePaul in ‘19, and they got runner up and followed it up by going 5-29 the next 2 years in the Big East. It’s a tournament built for the Southern Indianas of the world. Better off getting an early start on the offseason.

For me, the bubble means we make the tournament or we feel like we got screwed.
