Going Dark/Negative Posting Engaged
Dead Dog Alley replied to basketballjones's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I briefly woke up with about 3 minutes to go in the half and Washington was on their way to 100, with a 47-34 lead. So, I shut the TV off because I knew right then the season was over. I don't even care enough anymore to look up the final score. -

Someone actually hired these officials? And willingly pays them? -

How long can you go where you consistently get completely fucked by the officiating, before you say this ain't worth worrying about? I think I'm passed that point. -

USC is 6-50, in fouls called vs fouls actually committed -

It should tell you something when Mick Cronin, the king of the rock fight, says that the style of play that is allowed by Big Ten officiating is ridiculous. -

Has anyone seen Lazerek Huston? How good is he?

Only in the alternate universes where NU didn't piss the Xavier game down their leg in 1991
-
A younger version of me would have posted this clip from the Simpsons But, thankfully, I've matured and would no longer do such a thing.

He finally realized that he's 75 years old. Danny Nee remains the oldest coach NU has ever had; he was 54 when Bill Byrne ran him out of town.

2011 was the last time we won two non-conference road games (at USC, at TCU). Those games were also the last time they won a true road game west of Lincoln. It was also the year that got Doc fired. -
They should solve this guy's problem by bringing back Eddie Jordan

Was that even against a Division 1 team?

They should make it a trophy game. The winner gets to decide if they want to claim Standhardinger as an alumnus. -
Who could forget about Bernard Garner? The JC player of the year from Western Nebraska CC. Others of note, Melvin Brooks was a starter in 95. Chris Sallee was eligbile for 1.5 years - he had somehow played in JC or enrolled early so wasn't going to be eligible the second semester; but for some reason he came back for that year anyway. So, he only played in 14 games (they went 11-3 with him; 5-11 in the next 16 games without him; and then 5-0 in the NIT). Rodney Fields was a starter on Collier's first team. Joe Holmes replaced Tyronn Lue in the lineup; but didn't exactly replace his production.

San Jose State may be equivalent to a junior college, but technically is a four year institution, so you have to leave Tony Farmer out. Noticeably absent from mention so far: Handy Johnson - double figure scorer in 1981 Claude Renfro - starter on NIT final four team Lenard Johnson - Backup 6'6" C that beat Missouri and Stipanovich Terry Smith - Starting 6'6" C that beat Missouri and Stipanovich Stan Cloudy - two year starter, second leading scorer in 83, 84 Ronnie Smith - backup C/PF in 84, 85; became a police officer and died in a traffic accident Chris Logan - starter at C in the first ever NCAA game Harvey Marshall - two years in double figures, started on first NCAA team Anthony Bailous - 6th man on first NCAA team Derrick Chandler - the only center to start on two tournament teams Caleb Walker - he helped make that one guy from Illinois cry Evan Taylor - he's pretty recent to be forgotten And there's also some what might have beens: Deak Vance - a 6'8" PF/C that would have helped out tremendously with or without Hoppen for the first NCAA tournament team; but he was academically ineligible after the first semester Jose Ramos - getting jiggy with the wrong woman was a bad career choice BJ Walker - looked good coming off the plane Amos Gregory - liked food Andre Almeida - really liked food Rishan Norwood - didn't like junior college classes so didn't get here Shang Ping - he does have a Wikipedia page and a nickname of "The Beast"; but let's just try to forget... Roburt Sallie - Fuck you, Big 12. No, really. Fuck you.
