  1. NO! We are not going to start getting messages about increasing your size here are we?
  2. More and different photos to enjoy. http://www.huskers.com/PhotoAlbum.dbml?PALBID=1013762&DB_OEM_ID=100
  3. Must be something going on that all of a sudden we get a visit and "cooled" on a Rivals top 90 kid. But, hey, you know those Rivals top 90 kids. They're a dime a dozen and we're Nebraska basketball so we hold out for ... Oh, who am I kidding? This is frickin' amazing that we're even getting a visit. I'm going to go pinch myself now. Y'all wake me up when my dream is over, OK? If things go as well as we hope....and Miles is here for the duration....by the time we wake you....You may be dead from old age! Stay awake...enjoy the journey. We're on the road. GATA!
  4. Rivals site summarized below actually lists only 2 schools Gilmore is HIGHLY interested in UNLV and us... http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-Leon-Gilmore-141428 School Interest Offer Visit Recruited by Nebraska High Offered None Tim Miles, Craig Smith UNLV High Offered None Houston Medium Offered None Kansas St. Medium None Oklahoma Medium Offered None Oklahoma St. Medium None TCU Medium Offered None Texas Medium None Texas A&M Medium Offered None Texas Tech Medium Offered None
  5. Now there is a girl looking for a date. Creighton Fan...perhaps you know her!
  6. One thing I hope the scoreboard/sound system coordinators learn is to not quiet our crowd down in the closing minutes of a game by putting on informational/announcement videos and other items that immediately quiet the crowd (as they often did at the Bob during crunch time). I would imagine Coach Miles will encourage something like the coach suggested above...by arraigning for a large # of Val's pizzas to appear at some tweeted location and try to get the students organized. This type of organizing is right up his alley.
  7. Count me in the Gilmore over wacker group. Granted we need bigs, but like kamdy stated Gilmore's going to be a good one and was good playing with 3 5*s Well then...let's just get Gilmore to play with at least 3 5*s here and life will be good!
  8. Once Talley left, we forgot about the Wacker.
  9. If we ever reach the level where we are a consistent top 10 contender (think NU football in the 70s or 90s) a BBall ticket against a top 20 team would be way harder to score than a football ducat! Of course, I have held my tickets for decades with that same thought in mind. May reality sync with my mind!
  10. you could technically sign 3 in the fall with the oversigning rule. If you do that it basically tells someone one week into the season (first game Nov 8, signing day Nov 13) that they will taking someones spot. Kandy is correct that now it would be telling the team..."Someone's scholarship will not be renewed next year." Several years from now we certainly hope it will mean... "We expect one or more of our players are good enough that they are going to The League."....EARLY! God, please let me live that long!
  11. It's up to Harriman. We were somehow Tai's first choice before he even visited campus, so it's possible Harriman could pull off the same thing with Bolden. It may be harder as there appears to be more connections than there were with Tia's recruitment.. The article hugh42 posted earlier noted: "His father handles all of the recruiting business, so Jonah's not exactly sure what schools are interested. He doesn't have any particular colleges he favors, but he did tell me he likes the University of Michigan. Considering his father is originally from Flint and even played at the same high school as Glen Rice (Northwestern), it makes sense Jonah's a fan of the Maize and Blue." - See more at: http://prospect-central.blogspot.com/2013/05/jonah-bolden-class-of-2015s-australian.html#.UgxZqW33NhB Not impossible, but a challenge. GATA!
  12. JACOB IS ON 1620 RIGHT NOW EXPLAINING HIS DECISION TUESDAY 4:50 P.M.
  13. Fun fact: The arena actually does have two holding "cells." They're really only small rooms with a bench and locking door in case some crazed concert fan or drunk person gets too out of line. Not sure if that will ever really get used. Having worked with concerts and security many years ago....I guarantee they will be needed and used!
  14. I live in the Haymarket and agree that parking down there (even driving) is an absolute disaster right now. That said, the garages will certainly help that out and not having to drive through multiple lane closers/wait on forklifts driving down the street will open things up nicely. Luckily I won't have to worry about driving/parking for games until I decide to move in a few years so I'll be interested in seeing how it works out. They will have multiple exit ways out of the arena thanks to the new road they're building, but the Haymarket is a pretty congested space for traffic with or without construction. I can't imagine it will be worse than the Bob, though. That was absolutely awful. We are doing a big special section on the arena and surrounding area coming out on August 18. That will have a really good story on parking. A brief preview: event parking will be prepaid so when the event is over, everyone just pours out and you don't get stuck behind someone who can't find their parking slip etc. Zero traffic will be allowed to go through the old Haymarket. Instead the garages will pour out onto Pinnacle Arena Drive and either north to Salt Creek Roadway and South to N Street. Here's a story I wrote recently about the garage situation: http://journalstar.com/news/local/dude-there-s-your-car-west-haymarket-garages-to-be/article_b1275d58-d5e9-53fa-8aa0-4e9509c0355c.html Are there going to be city lots (or others) that sell season basketball packages, similar to what the city does for football?
  15. When you view the parking statement...it requires that you contribute $300 or more to the Rebounders... This appears to perhaps be in addition to the seat donation...is that correct?...or does the amount you contribute as a seat donation now go to the Rebounders Club?
  16. Now you can mark it as official...He is from Mac Irvin Fire
  17. Don't know if this is sarcasm or serious but I think Lincoln's city planners FINALLY did something right. They effed up 33rd street at south. They effed up 27th by the country club and effed up 40th at the cemetary on O. They effed up all the east-west roads except for maybe O Street. You almost can't drive straight through Lincoln from one side of town to the other -- north to south or east to west -- without having to take some detour or get caught in some bottle neck. But, by gawd, they did the arena and surrounding area pretty well and it's going to be special. Now, they just need to widen the hell out of Sun Valley Blvd. And build another bridge over salt creek leaving Haymarket Park parking lots. Definitely not sarcasm...I lived in Lincoln for 7 years (but the last was 1976). I am now in Omaha and have season tickets for baseball, basketball and football...so I see Lincoln often. I am astounded the planners were progressive enough to take the initiative of making a district with the opportunity the new arena provided. I think Lincoln has taken a step that will make the town and the university much more attractive. I am happily surprised with the foresight of this development. Like everybody, I harbor worries about the parking jam for post games, etc. but on the whole I see this development as by far the most progressive thing Lincoln has done in decades.
  18. Lincoln city planners...you astound me! Great foresight for your children's children's children! http://journalstar.com/gallery/news/photos-haymarket-construction-continues/collection_33eeacfb-2cf3-5bee-bec3-035997e8f937.html#12
  19. There is a wait list, so, unless you're on that...and pretty high up for that matter...I'd say don't hold your breath on that. However, getting on the list now is better than later.
  20. Thanks cip, I'm losing patience with Pelini and would like to see a new coach. Pelini's biggest weaknesses are his recruiting and performance in big games. I realize that Nebraska is not in a great place geographically for recruiting but there is no excuse for the team's defensive performances in the ugly losses. It makes you appreciate what TO did even more because he was ahead of his time and did thing the right way. And who is it for us to say Bo isn't doing it the right way. I dont't know how old you are but at one point in To's career the fans wanted to tar and feather him as well. So IMO Bo needs some time to learn as TO did. "He can't win the big one" was the rallying cry for TO critics from 1973 until 1994. Below is TO's first 5 year career record. The results for those first five years for all games, conference games and our finish in the 8 team conference. Bo's results are very similar....It took TO until 1978 before he beat OU the first time...and then he lost to them a month later! TO's record was made in a conference that had only two heavyweights (and we were sucking hind tit in these years... OU 5 NU 0). When a school takes the attitude that coaches should not be given more than 4 or 5 years while they have been winning 9 or 10 games...then they will fire Bo... and TO as well...but those same schools better be ready to change coaches twice a decade...and they should not expect a crystal collection unless they are in an extremely rich recruiting area. It seemed like it took TO ages to switch to speed from bulk on defense....it took about 15 years before the Miamis of the day convinced TO that old school would not cut it....and several more years more before the shift in recruiting resulted in the changes that reaped 3 trophies. Bo is flipping switches quicker than that. There have been many things about Bo that rub me wrong (sideline demeanor is #1)...but he is growing on the job. Considering the disaster that proceeded him, he deserves much more time as he is growing into the job. Tom Osborne head coaching record for his first 5 years: 1973 9–2–1 4–2–1 T-2nd 1974 9–3 5–2 T-2nd 1975 10–2 6–1 T-1st 1976 9–3–1 4–3 T-4th 1977 9–3 5–2 T-2nd
  21. If this is true, Norm will be very happy, I promise. It will be better than the below seats he was claiming last October.
