  1. When is the presentation of the crystal trophy scheduled in Lincoln?
  2. Most of us baby boomers probably started with either something like: or the black option... You may have also optioned for the same looking style made by P.F.Flyer or Keds if your mom found them at a better price. two color choices....what more could a boy ask for?
  3. Look back at the last class...and the two transfers the year before....They are more like good pudding than chopped liver. (I hate liver.) A solid foundation is built with hard work, a step at a time and it requires patience. Quick fixes often result in NCAA sanctions. TM is doing the hard work...all we need to do is to be (a little) patient and then a kid that has had TM on him for a couple years will see the wisdom of being a Husker...if not the below...somebody with a similar attitude, and 4 stars or more stars. Notice his use of "WE".
  4. Can somebody explain why all the pictures have a blue hue to them?....scoreboard lights or what?
  5. Actually, that wasn't Washut Dimes, Is this this Nebrasketball dude pissin' you off ...'cause he is acting like he is just as smart as you!
  6. Depending on somebody's definition of Great Plains...verbal commits lists these that would qualify: Kansas State Iowa Nebraska Creighton Missouri State Wichita State Two not in my view of the Great Plains....but maybe they are in somebody's mind... Minnesota Marquette Did a google image search of Great Plains maps. The region extends from Texas up into Canada, but the eastern boarder on most maps is the Missouri River. So by those maps Iowa doesn't count. Some maps even bring the eastern boarder a little further west so that Lincoln is in the Great Plains, but Omaha, and with it, the Bluejays are not located in the Great Plains. That is the map I choose to go by. The region then follows the eastern boarders of the Dakotas to the north excluding Minnesota. Marquette is a whole 'nother state to the east and is clearly out of the Great Plains. Missouri State is out too. Finally, Baylor may be a fringe plains school depending on which map you look at. But I still think Waco is too far south and east to merit discussion about Baylor being in the plains region. Hopefully Miller has a good grip on his geography before he makes his decision. Someone show him the map where Creighton is not located on the Great Plains! Well if you are using something like the below as your map of the "Great Plains" then take out the schools east of the Missouri River....but be ready to include not only Baylor but Colorado as a possibilities, as they are on Tory's list. The below map found on Google images is from the US gov't! http://www.usbr.gov/foia/contacts.html Perhaps it has been too long since I experienced a refreshing summer visit to the "Great Plains" city of Boulder. However, I will be eternally grateful that the person using this definition did not lead my wagon train in the mid 1800's across the plains in the eastern 2/3 of Colorado...that 100 miles west of Denver might be tougher than it looks here. Then contemplate how the 4 hour drives between both Council Bluffs to Iowa City and Lincoln to Ogallala are different from the "Great Plains" perspective.

  8. Anyone venture to guess.... A video of the team touring the arena after they installed the floor and Tim Miles making the first PBA basket! A dunk! Sitting on Walter Pitchfords shoulders! Team photo shoot would be my guess. A Harlem Shake...Or some progressive advancement thereupon ...followed by the highlights of a team dunk contest...followed by the new intro music for the team when they come onto the floor (not related to the tunnel walk!)...followed by an impressive crowd response that lasts until the tip off...followed by the Huskers kickin' some ass! That's my guess/hope.
  9. Details of the Open House for season ticket holders....that will be used as an opportunity to get feedback from fans re: parking, traffic flow, concessions, etc. and the same again after the exhibition game. They will save the "bells and whistles" for the official opener...so if you want some...BYO. http://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/mens-basketball/huskers-to-host-open-house-exhibition-at-arena/article_815d5f60-9b8e-5d50-afdc-4113691057a3.html
  10. Good news finally arrives:
  11. Here is a new article with updates of all the restaurants, bars, businesses, etc. including a map of where and approximate opening dates. Helpful overview....sure wish this was here when I was a student. http://journalstar.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/even-as-arena-opens-west-haymarket-will-be-work-in/article_8259fc22-9967-54d7-9441-8148f50267ee.html
  12. Sigh!... The time will come when a the next level player (top 150) takes this leap of faith, hope and love for the NU program...but not this year. I believe TM has set the table by providing a large number of significantly better players that are ready to enter the rotation this year and hopefully provide the encouragement. TM will keep looking for the player(s) with an attitude that needs to "Go where no man has gone before." When he or they arrive, they most likely be a "gods" in this state. I visualize next August...as we snare a pair of recruits that agree they want to play together (similar to what it appeared Akoy Agau was trying to hook up with Vitto Brown). If we can get some visits into the tremendous facilities, while having an electric atmosphere (I know...this is asking for a BIG change, but a 20 win team should get the new crowd revved up) some intelligent players are going to see the advantages. Now, since I was born right after our last conference championship...let me please just live long enough to see us hoist this trophy...and I will be smiling all the way to the mortuary...but if we win a few games in the tournament, I may agree to dance there. TM, Make it so!
  13. Offer us some wine or beer with your hot salsa and you may be subjected to something akin to the closing scene from Blazing Saddles!
  14. Santa cip found an extra jar or two in his bag. For the rest of you procrastinators, sorry. You will have to wait til December. Sure....I take a one day holiday to Mahoney State Park to be with my wife's family away from TVs, computers, etc. and Christmas in July breaks out! I guess I haven't been good enough...
  15. The games in Omaha have been televised for years. It is the games in Lincoln that have occasionally not been televised. It probably should be pointed out that Nebraska had the rights to those games, not Creighton. I think you are missing that quite a few of the members here live outside the state of NE. I live in Omaha so a game on KMTV or NET covers my viewing....but not the members in Colorado, Texas, California, etc. You are going to be on a much larger viewing agenda...embrace it! I am not worried about Creighton broadcasting the games in Omaha. It was always televised before and Creighton didn't even have the TV options it has going forward. Nebraska is the one that needs to step up when it comes to broadcasting the games. By the way, all games on NET are streamed on the internet in high def for free. My comments are not a put down to CU, rather it is an acknowledgement of CU stepping up to a higher level... Below is the media that broadcast the last CU v NU game according to Creighton's athletic site: http://www.gocreighton.com/SportSelect.dbml?SPSID=89385&SPID=69&DB_OEM_ID=1000&Q_SEASON=2011 Sun, Dec 04 Nebraska - - CenturyLink Center Omaha 76 - 66 (W) STATS NOTES KMTV KXSP (590 AM) The same media broadcast the previous CU home game in the 2009-2010 season....so the point was how was the video getting to our members outside the Omaha area with one local TV and one radio station supplying the only coverage? You are so defensive, that you can't accept the acknowledgement of CU getting the upgrade in conference...but face it...it ain't exactly a "been there done that" TV deal for CU. I am one fan who will be glad for the extra coverage, as I frequently like to watch and cheer for CU on TV...and I have no reason not to root for them except for once (or occasionally twice) a year. As for the NU upgrade you suggest is needed...Last year NU had all but 2 games (where the Sun Bowl Invitational owned the rights) on either an ESPN or BTN national channels at worst. CU had nine games covered by radio ONLY...and many more with the local radio affiliate and video on KMTV ( the local TV partner) only....Your alums on the coasts rarely got to watch. Your future broadcasting will be in line with what major conferences do....which was the point 49'r made ...in way less time than I took here.
  16. OK....I looked a bit...here are relevant pages...he is 4 star....and I want! http://scouthoops.scout.com/a.z?s=75&p=8&c=1&nid=6134037 http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-Henry-Ellenson-130527 http://espn.go.com/college-sports/basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/143158/henry-ellenson Lots of offers out there.
  17. This one is funny...

  19. I utilize Kenpom.com as a big resource for previewing and predicting the games. I found listening to Miles talk during pre and post game interviews he would bring up exactly the same things that the stats would indicate. What do you think of utilizing Kent Pavelka?
  20. https://twitter.com/TheRecruitScoop/status/359401116246609920 Knowledge or opinions anyone?
  21. A good old fashioned Butt-Kickin'.... Something I would like to get use to again... From the kickin' end!
  22. Why did he turn that offer down? He couldn't produce a birth certificate..... He must have been to busy producing assists.
  23. Why did he turn that offer down?
  24. http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=20&SPID=24&DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=208713461&DB_OEM_ID=100 "University of Nebraska basketball player Trevor Menke was honored Wednesday, as he was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Honor Court. The honor is given to players who are a junior or senior in academic standing, carry a 3.2 GPA or higher at the conclusion of the 2012-13 academic year and have matriculated at least one year at their current institution." Good for him...nice honor!
