I thought fat guy + bad knees guys got to sit at timeouts so that we could stand for the action. Because I did. During the Wisconsin game, I felt we should only sit as often as the players in the game (COUGH...since they are probably not in any better shape than i am...cough cough) so I took that as license to sit during the break so as to keep my strength up for the sake of the team. PS...if Jacobsen or Morrow want to put on 20 to 40 extra pounds, they can have some of mine.

I admit, I've been slacking lately when it comes to getting Cipsalsa out to the masses on this forum. We need to come up with a contest where 2 or 3 winners get a quart of salsa. Ideas, anyone? How about the first 3 members responding with suggestions as to how to disseminate the goods get a jar of Cipsalsa! Extra Hot! Yea, that sounds good.

Teams basically only need to guard Pitch & Petteway while letting the others try & get theirs... If coaching against us, I would let those two shoot from behind the arc too. We just don't have shooters. Petteway scores due to the volume of shots taken. This year, (col)coach, you would win. Yet, next year, with the addition of White, Morrow, Watson...and the maturation of Fuller...20 pounds on our centers...a transfer senior...plus the lack of focused pressure on the 2 guys that have been the extreme focus of attention...and we will finally get to the beginning of an era where our players are like zucchinis. I did not see DC's article as any kind of indictment of TP or SS...Rather I saw it as a realization by Tia that those 2 are better options on offense...and we all know, they certainly are. Tia slowly lost confidence when his shots and moves were not working...so, he figures, why not capitulate to the better players? Well, in the long run...this attitude does not benefit the team...if you are a reasonable option on offense you need them to guard you not sag. When demoted, Tia wisely asked to play with the scout team where he was the best (or one of) option for scoring...suddenly he did not have to concern himself with whether the ball should move along the perimeter. Now...he was supposed to be a scorer rather than a guy who knew there were better options than he was. He was to duplicate the other teams leading scorer! As a result, on scout team he got into a rhythm...hitting shots...regaining his confidence. While DC may be an occassional sceptic of NU's ability to succeed...in this instance (and some others) he deserves a pass...I think he actually grew up an NU fan...forced to praise the jay...so give him some leeway.

You mean...welcome to a Big Boy league??? Where Big Body Boys are an every day requirement? See the Husker's struggle while our big bodies were injured and out, for an example! They only now starting to provide limited minutes. CU failed to realize how much they benefited from having Greg E 2 seasons ago (I would have loved to add him to our roster)...who had nearly as much to do with CU dominance in the Valley as Dougie... Finally, their coach made a monumental mistake when he discontinued producing babies 20+ years ago ...as he needed the next player of the year to continue this run. In all seriousness....I root for the Jays when they do not play NU...but many of their fans have significantly underestimated what it takes to wallow through the Big Boy league schedule. This is not a schedule of your one or two non conference rivals and the 1 or 2 strong teams in your league this year... It will be at least half your league that is more than willing and able to eat you alive! Stop looking for only 4 or 5 games a year of importance...as double digit games are the norm for toss-ups...or worse.

Last year, when this came up, I found a website that sells shot clocks. Pretty reasonable. And easy enough to use a cheerleader could do it. Adding a shot clock to high school basketball may and does sound like a good idea but will only add more for officials to keep track. You can see timing issues at almost any game so you would need a qualified operator and not to mention that person knowing/seeing the ball hit the rim and when to reset. Heck, the refs in college games now even have to stop play for resetting or adjusting it and they have video to aid them. That video help probably won't be available at most high school games.I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy. I'd rather have an errant shot clock... than leaving balls under key and lock.
