Nebraska (7-18) vs Maryland (11-14) game thread
hhcmatt replied to cipsucks's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Wilcher isn't going to be a guy who is likely to be our best player but he's proving to be a really solid rotation piece who on paper is only a freshman. -
He's a big weirdo but he's likely the type of coach that could have succeeded here 3 years ago because during the Bill Moos era you needed to supply your own leadership and culture.

Only Trev Alberts can truly derail the Hot Seat thread

Tommy Amaker is the guy Shawn Eichorst would have hired instead of Hoiberg if he was still AD

Maryland's record also showing what happens when you have a talented team but not the coach to make it happen -
3 weeks left in the season

I'm sure he's a fine center for Coffeyville and probably at the very least a decent D-1 post player. What I wonder when I see that video is what happens when he plays in our scheme where you run up and down the court because I'm not sure he can handle 20 minutes. Hopefully it's a conditioning deal because of the injury.

At this point, if things keep going this way ...

Your point of view is based on a poor interpretation of what you think is happening as opposed to what is actually happening. Half your post is filled with "I assume" so I don't understand why you think you're the one who is on the money. Thus you are happy with Matt for recruiting some wings while simultaneously not happy with Matt for not recruiting a PG. -

We replaced Kevin Cross with Trevor Lakes and Elijah Wood -
Is he still slowed by injury? I watched a decent amount in the first half and it was him being blown by on defense and seems to be slugging up and down the court.

Things become clearer (or confusing) when you attribute the right shortcomings to the right people. -
It's not that Fred doesn't have Otz as much as he doesn't have a guy like Otz who likely was the sheriff of accountability while at Iowa St. Not sure if Otz will run a perennial power at ISU but his ability to change his style based on his roster seems like a good sign for his future success. As far as Johnson goes, the impressive thing about him was winning some of the games he did with the roster he has in year one. Time will tell what sort of coach he is once he starts filling the roster with that pool of local talent.

Ed's a 2nd year center who hasn't played all that much basketball in his life. Might be one those guys were it takes 3-4 years for him to get there. Might be a guy who needs a change in scenery. Might never get there. Have to say he's the body we couldn't recruit besides Jordy in the last decade. -
If everyone comes back AW might be the 6th player of the year off the bench next year as a sophomore. One thing different from 2019-20 though is that this team is winning.

I'm looking at the game now and he's not on the bench there either. -

Was he on the bench for Minnesota? -

Derrick Walker is the only guy who has been here all 3 years of the Hoiberg era. What percentage of him getting better can we attribute to the coaching staff and what percentage is him being dedicated to getting better? I find it hard to determine our developmental ability because of our continuity issues. -
Leigha probably had/has a lot of people chirping in her ears. The only people I've had to either talk to or ban from the women's section in the last 5 years have been two of Brown's overzealous family members.

No, I'm assuming freshman year Kevin Cross could start at the 4 for us. -

Just wanted to say Fred Hoiberg would have at least 10 conference wins in 3 years if Kevin Cross was still here. -

This was brought up in the game thread but were Doc or Keon Edwards there today?
