Michigan 87 - Nebraska 70 -
Nebraska Cornhuskers (6-15) at Michigan Wolverines (10-8) Date: Tuesday, Feb 1, 2022 Time: 8:00 pm Arena: Crisler Center Broadcast: BTN Michigan Info Head Coach: Juwan HowardLocation: Ann Arbor, MIConference: B1GNickname: Wolverines Shirt not to wear: Yellow, Blue, Nike Last time out: Lost to Michigan St. Line: Michigan by 14.5 Typical Rotation Depth: 8 KenPom rank: 32 Other: Nebraska Men's basketball has never won a game in Ann Arbor, 0-10 lifetime. The closest they've been is 6 points, twice. In the 9 games since putting up 20 vs Nebraska, Brandon Johns has scored 10 points. Player to watch: Hunter Dickenson The offense runs through the massive Dickenson who rarely leaves the court. Besides excelling at rebounding and converting in the paint, Dickenson is also a gifted passer, able to work out of double teams. He'll occasionally pop a 3, currently 9-25 on the year. Player to watch: Caleb Houstan As you can see from this game chart, the success of Michigan thus far has correlated with the offensive output of 5 star Freshman Caleb Houston. Last time vs Nebraska he put up a 16 and 6. Possible Michigan Starters 12 DeVante’ Jones G 6-1 200 GS New Orleans, La. (St. Augustine HS/Coastal Carolina) 55 Eli Brooks G 6-1 185 GS Spring Grove, Pa. (Spring Grove Senior HS) 22 Caleb Houstan G/F 6-8 205 Fr. Mississauga, Ontario (Montverde Academy [Fla.]) 14 Moussa Diabate F 6-11 210 Fr. Wilcher G 6-5 30 Keisei Tominaga G 6-2 35 Eduardo Andre F 6-11 10 Kobe Webster G 6-0 Bench 23 Keon Edwards G 6-7 3 Quaran McPherson G 6-3 33 Oleg Kojenets F 7-0 4 Jackson Cronin G 6-1 12 Sam Hoiberg G 6-0 15 Chris McGraw G 6-0 21 Jace Piatkowski G 6-3 Injured 14 Trevor Lakes F 6-8 32 Wilhelm Breidenbach F 6-10 The Skinny: Michigan has been up and down this year but boy were they up when they came in completely demolished Nebraska in Lincoln in December. They recently rolled Indiana and then were rolled by Michigan St. Tonight is a get right game for the Wolverines. Nebraska still has no earthly idea how to win a close game but with the ever improving Bryce McGowens and the return of Trey McGowens, they at the very least haven't completely folded. The return of Alonzo Verge will add another shot creator to the lineup but can Nebraska get 20 locked in minutes from him? The rest of the team seems to be shooting the ball ok from outside with the exception of Keisei Tominaga who has gone from taking some bad outside shots to no outside shots. Michigan doesn't have tall guards like Rutgers so it's a better play for him here. The guards matter because with Trey McGowens back, KT, AZ, and Kobe are competing for minutees. Nebraska has never beaten Michigan in Ann Arbor. It would be the upset of the year if this team could pull it off. Prediction: Michigan 87 - Nebraska 70 View full article

Nebraska (6-15) vs Michigan (10-8) game thread

Harder to get worse than losing by 35 at home and Hunter Dickinson popping 3s out of boredom -
Sanogo and Whitt at Tanagra, Shaka, when the walls fell.

If we do end up replacing Fred you need to get a guy like Miles who can build a program so probably not an 'up and coming' assistant type. That's what Osborne saw in Miles when he hired him and maybe Trev is tasked will see the same thing.

It would have allowed us to legitimately list a player as PG on the roster
-
given the fast and loose rules in d-1 these days don't overlook the possibility of us executing a player trade in Ann Arbor today. Jackson's time at Michigan has a lot of Keon Edwards to it.

This works if you get Nebraska-Northwestern to move their Feb 22 game to March 3rd, a small break for both teams

I've been doing some research and can confirm that Dave Hoppen also had 3 consecutive games of 20+ as a freshman -

He'd be the one guy who would care about the N on the uniform. I doubt we'll ever see DW in a husker uniform so I'll just pretend that Quaran McPherson is from Norfolk. -

The thing I noticed about Kobe's FT video is that none of his teammates were rebounding for him. -

I'd still take Donovan Williams on this team anytime he wants to come back to the state. -

We had the best player on the court last night and often times looked like the best team. Led all but 90 seconds. Just brutal. -

I don't dispute that Verge is going through something. What you're assuming here is that Verge didn't play because he didn't feel up to it and I don't think that is what happened. I think Fred made the statement 'Coach's decision' because that is what it was. Regardless I think he'll be back. -

Not turning the ball over this season is one of the best things we do. 3.5 isn't terrible for how much he handles the ball -

Seems to me that two things can be true: Verge is reportedly going through some personal stuff and going through some personal stuff can cause one to blow up at a practice. If you're running a program that is under the accountability microscope like ours, Verge has to take accountability regardless of the circumstances as 'overcoming adversity' is seemingly 50% of our mantra. (making simple plays being the other) We didn't have any reliable offense other than Bryce last night. We could have used about 10 minutes of Verge but you can't get 10 minutes; you either get 20+ or 0. I think Verge genuinely cares about this team and about winning and the big problem is that how he goes about naturally is often aesthetically the opposite of what we prefer to run. He's a SG who can masquerade as a PG who we can't play SG because every other ball handler on the roster is also a SG masquerading as a PG. Verge becomes the PG because he's easily the best assist generating pseudo PG we have and also isn't a good 3pt shooter. (Lat Mayen led the team in assists last night) I can sit here and be very frustrated with Verge's lack of consistency and lazy defense but I can't sit here and in good conscience blame him. especially given our record of roster construction, for being a bad fit.
