Notes from UNL *-Nebraska wins its first MTE event since the 2000 San Juan Shootout, while Nebraska Head Fred Hoiberg is the first coach to win multiple Diamond Head Classics, as his Iowa State team won the 2013 event. *-Diamond Head Classic MVP Brice Williams posted his fifth game of at least 25 points this season, finishing with 25 points, a season-high seven rebounds and four assists. He has scored 25 or more points in three of NU’s last four games. It was his 11th game at Nebraska with at least 20 points and has been in double figures in 15 of the last 16 games dating back to last season *-Williams averaged 22.0 points on 56 percent shooting along with 3.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists in NU’s three games. *-Sophomore Berke Büyüktuncel finished with career-highs in both points (16) and three pointers (three), as he went 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. He entered tonight’s game 4-of-19 from the 3-point line this season. Büyüktuncel joined Williams on the all-tournament team as he averaged 8.0 ppg and 8.0 rpg. *-Nebraska finished at 53.2 percent shooting, the third time the Huskers shot over 50 percent this season. *-Nebraska went 20-of-24 tonight and finished the tournament going 38-of-44 (.863) from the foul line. *-Nebraska held Oregon State to 39.6 percent shooting, the seventh opponent in 12 games under 40 percent. Nebraska held its three opponents to a combined 37.4 percent from the field. *-Nebraska out-rebounded OSU, 31-24, becoming only the second team to out-rebound the Beavers this season. -

Nebraska 71 - Oregon St 66 -
Oregon State Head Coach: Wayne Tinkle (11th year) Location: Corvallis, OR Conference: WCC Nickname: Beavers Mascot: Benny Beave Line: Nebraska by 4.5 Rotation Depth: 9 Last time out: Beat Oakland Nota bene: Nebraska is 5-6 all-time vs Oregon St With the collapse of the Pac-12, Oregon State is now a member of the West Coast Conference Guard Nate Meidoff now goes by the name Nate Kingz This is the second neutral location game vs Oregon St in as many year. Last season Nebraska defeated Oregon St. 84-63 at the Sanford Pentagon Nebraska is looking for their first in-season tournament championship since the San Juan Shootout in 2000 Fred Hoiberg is 5-0 as a coach in Hawai'i, 2-1 as a player. This marks the Huskers’ seventh trip to the islands for a tournament and the first since the 2014 Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic Fred Hoiberg led Iowa St to the championship of the 2013 Diamond Head Classic. There is an infamous report that Iowa St made the team sleep in a ballroom before their flight home to save money. Player to watch: Michael Rataj The junior forward leads Oregon St in scoring, rebounds, and blocks. The Beavers both of last year's top scorers, Tyler Bilodeau and Jordan Pope, to schools in better conferences with better NIL opportunities. It's possible that it's been addition by subtraction for OSU as the Beavers have exceeded expectations and are 10-2. If you look at their current KenPom numbers, you can see similarities to their surprise Elite 8 team from 2021. Unlike a lot of the other teams that Nebraska has played, Oregon St isn't really a one-dimensional offense. They shoot well from 3 but then again they work into the paint enough where they also score plenty from the 3. They do tend to turn the ball over more than average. Defensively, the Beavers have a lot of length which allows them to exceed on the glass as well as gambling for steals. Thus far Nebraska hasn't really been tested in this tournament. That could change against this Oregon St team that looks like it could finish towards the top of the WCC. Given this could end up as a Quad 1 win, this would look great on Nebraska's resume if they can pull it out. Prediction: Nebraska 71 - Oregon St 66

This is the 11th most by a Husker in a season since 2009-10. He is chasing Roby's 28 for the Bartorvik crown -

Last year's team was going to be three heavy. You could see it a mile away because everyone could take 3s. This season would be a disaster is we shot them at the same rate because it's not built the same. We have posts and PGs that aren't threats from 3. We're stronger rebounding and generating turnovers but unfortunately have been sloppy with the ball. The slightly surprising upside is that we've generated FT attempts at a rate higher than any Fred Hoiberg team to date. There is a very good argument that production at the FT line is fickle. From my experience, the same can be said about making 3s. This is a different team and hopefully the outcome is that the matchups benefit us with success in the tourney -

No. Rollie's deal is that he's never been much better than a 30% 3pt shooter and he should only take those shots as needed. Sometimes it feels like he'll take one at the end of a game we are winning so it makes it slightly harder to profile him as a guy who you don't need to guard at the 3. Maybe it's the last couple of games moving the needle but the numbers offensively and defensively are significantly better when Worster is on the court -

Notes from UNL *-Nebraska picked up its first win at Hawai’i since 1976, snapping a five-game losing streak to the Rainbow Warriors. NU is now 3-7 all-time against Hawai’I with all 10 games in Honolulu. *-Nebraska will play in its first MTE title game since the 2018 Hall of Fame Classic. *-Brice Williams tied his career high with 32 points, matching his career high against UAB on March 4, 2023 when he was at Charlotte. His previous Nebraska high was 30 points against Indiana on Dec. 13. Williams now has two 30-point games this season and five for his career. *-Juwan Gary finished with a season-high 21 points, topping his previous best of 19 vs. FDU. It marked his fourth career 20-point game. *-Nebraska improves to 2-1 in true road games on the season with both wins coming by double figures. *-Nebraska’s 15-0 run in the first half was the Huskers’ 10th double figure run of the season *-Nebraska held Hawaii to a season-low 55 points, as its previous low was 67 vs. Hawai’I Pacific on Nov. 26 *-Nebraska had two players score 20+ points for the second time this year and first time since Nov. 27 against South Dakota. -

Game Day Essentials: Game #10 at Hawai'i
hhcmatt replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
No rule though it becomes hard to get into the tourney if you have no road games. They play on the road for conference. They did play one non-con road game at Grand Canyon this season. Is that really any different than how we schedule? -

It turns out they can find plenty of teams that don't mind flying to Hawaii. They did play a random road game at Illinois 4 years ago. -

Sorry should have mentioned that @LincecumFan. I listened on the KLIN app while driving on the interstate for 2 hours and it worked great. The only problem with those apps is that they don't work to sync with the TV. Use a laptop for that.
