Very good breakdown. I really like this hire.
-
Phew. That guy is a freaking monster.
-
This is a nice addition. He may or may not be a bench guy for us, but he has some serious scoring ability and great footwork/ball handling. Very crafty with the pick and roll. Much different scorer than Teddy’s bruiser iso buckets. 80% from the free throw line is a lot more important than most realize. I think Trey, Bryce, and Alonzo will start. The three of them give us positionless basketball at the 1-3 which can be a huge advantage in transition. Hopefully Alonzo can hit threes at a 35% clip. If so, I can’t see him coming off the bench. It’s very difficult to guard three guys who can fill it up. Have we ever had three guards average double figures in a season?

What will our rotation look like next year?

TMac-Kobe BMac CJ Mayen Walker-Andre ^^^ that’s the rotation I would count on. Beyond that it’s a crap shoot for the 8th man IMO. I personally think Tominaga is a huge potential X factor off the bench. It will be very interesting to see if he can stretch the court at the D1 level. I think he’s a different cat. I don’t remember ever seeing a shooter like him on tape coming to Nebraska. Not counting on other youngins outside of Bryce to be contributors. That includes Wilhelm. I just don’t think they’ll have the strength but I hope I’m wrong. -
We're going to look back on Moos' tenure and find it enormously successful, methinks.

CJ can guard too. Big difference on the defensive end. -

One can also flip the a & o argument by showing, with certainty, that certain athletes generate a substantially higher amount of revenue for the university and private sector of Lincoln than said architecture student while they are here. They deserve well beyond the extra clothing and food they receive. They deserve a piece of what their talents and hard work have generated in the private sector, which affects the university revenue zero. For a place as crazy as Nebraska happens to be about college sports, it should serve as an advantage to our recruiting for these athletes receive NIL benefits. They don't have time for a job in the traditional sense anyway, because their time commitment is way more hours under the dictates of university scheduling than an architecture student. Being a student athlete is an insane time commitment and extremely grueling. This is another reason for their additional scholarship benefits. -
Keeping up with the offers/visits

85% of 5* basketball players make the NBA. It's completely different in terms of accuracy. -
When the cupboard is bare in football, it takes about 5 seasons to recruit lineman over your current roster and then develop them. They are the equivalent of big men in basketball, except you typically only have to recruit and develop 1-2 of those at a time. Our skill spots have been good enough for decent seasons the whole time Frost has been here, but he inherited an atrocious line on both sides of the ball. I think we'll be downhill this year and have some success. I like Frost. He's young and I think he'll figure it out by next season. Hoiberg, however, was an absolute bonafide miracle hire. If you listen closely to his interviews, his articulation, IQ, and integrity are off the charts in addition to an outstanding pro career as a player. Those kinds of coaches are always setting trends, which is why I hope we keep him around forever. I don't think Frost is going to be able to match Hoiberg's innovation in recruiting. As far as in-game, we'll see, but I don't see any way Hoiberg fails here.

I've said it before... Hoiberg is the steal hire of this decade in college basketball. I expect our talent level to increase even more in the next recruiting class. -
I said Trey was a dog before he got here. Some kids are built different mentally, and he’s one of them. I think the kids come from a really good family.

Fred is clearly working this angle. Brother U is the new Transfer U. The dude is always ahead. -
I like him! Explosive athlete and looks like he'd be a good sized PG. I think he'll be able to learn a lot as a Trey understudy. Funny how underwhelmed everyone seems to be about 3* players these days. This kid looks legit to me. I have no problem with Fred's brother and buddy system. I think it's a brilliant way to recruit.
-
He has some Roby to his game for sure, but that kid is an ELITE ball handler for his size. He’d start day 1 at the 4, and we’d contend as a dark horse for the B1G with him on our squad IMO.
-
OMG please. He's Banton with weight and a jump shot. Initiates the offense a LOT.

Love this. I like Traudt obviously, but Green could have a really nice D1 career. It's hard to find a proper comparison to his game, but he's the kind of a swiss army knife--pretty good at everything with a D1 body to boot. Like a Ron Harper, but a SF/PF. -
