Good question. I'd say makes. That's why Breidenbach is up there. He has more height with probably a bit more speed than Lakes. I think the top three are fairly interchangeable in terms of makes depending on how much PT Tominaga gets. I might be wrong, but I'm higher on the kid than most. My overall point, though, is that we aren't lacking that much in talent this season--we just don't have shooters. Next season, we aren't going to have that problem. It will be more about finding effective situational rotations. Regardless, we should be able to always have legit shooters on the court. Right now, we have Lat. Everyone else is streaky at best.

Trey could be an all conference defensive pick next year. Banton has only touched the surface of his ability, especially as a passer. Same with Andre. Thor is our best passer. I think Kobe is the best teammate based on his bench enthusiasm. Walker is our best big. Not sure who our best rebounder is—might be Banton actually. Probably Yvan. —— We have a newcomer of the year candidate coming in next season who will also be our best offensive player. I believe he’ll have a chance to be all conference (3rd team). Breidenbach will have a chance to be our best passer next season. Here’s where everything changes. Who will be our best shooter next season? My prediction: 1. Tominaga 2. Bryce 3. Lat 4. A transfer at the 3 5. Breidenbach 6. A transfer PG 7. Lakes 8. (Kobe) 9. Trey 10. (Thor) 11. Banton 12. Shamiel 13. Walker 14. Andre 15. Yvan Obviously not everyone is on the roster, but I predict Lat will be the only current player that cracks the top 6 shooters. That’s what’s missing. When we shoot well from distance we find ourselves in a paradigm shift.

Keeping up with the offers/visits

I mentioned in the other thread we need a 3 who can shoot 3s and a stop gap true PG if possible. This guy would be a perfect 3 for Fred's system, and he's versatile enough at 225lbs to play the 4 if need be. -
2021 SG Keisei Tominaga - Juco - LOI

This. A completely different need is being met here. Keisei is supposed to come here, run around, and shoot threes. That's it. He just needs to be dangerous enough to extend the defense, even if he never scores. But I wouldn't count him out from being a decent contributor based on that stroke. His dad was an international pro to boot, so I don't think he'll be scared of the moment. He looks like a playmaker in general on offense to me. Good passer. -

Think about Kobe in the NW game. I think Keisei is going to be like that 5-7 games a year. That's pretty significant. -

and a quick release! -
I like our bracket. If there's a prayer path, it's ours.
-
Yvan is a good defender and rebounder. He plays hard. His woes offensively outweigh what he brings on the other end. I think he's a lower D1 player.

I really hope we keep Shamiel. I think he'll be deadly going to the rim when we have a couple more shooters to space the floor. I thought he really helped us when he was on the court yesterday. Loved the fight from the team. I sincerely thought the refs were the difference at the end. I rarely say such a thing. These two halves were also reminders of what happens when we shoot well. You just have to have guys that can fill it up. If you do, you're basically Iowa overnight in Fred's system. I think what we're desperately missing for next season is a 3 who can shoot. If Thor comes back, I like him there. In a game like this one, we're a much different team with a lineup like Bryce, Tominaga, Thor, Lat, Breidenbach on the court. Even having Thor/Lat/Breidenbach with Bryce and Trey would be deadly for those two guards to get to the rim. It's just too clogged right now for the 5 out to make sense. Defenses go under every screen. They'll have to hedge hard with Bryce, which will change a lot. If Trey or Banton or Shamiel can have room to drive, that will change a lot as well. Personnel wise, we're very, very close if not there next year. If we pick up a true stopgap PG and a pure shooter at the 3, we're there. Love our bigs and wings.

https://youtu.be/KbkTb5bJoIw ^^^ some highlights from his last game. Silly range. -
Yeah that was ridiculous. If you feel so bad about it, resign. Don't put that kind of pressure on the Black players you already shit on. It's just bizarre how tone deaf the guy appears to be in this situation, and CU has handled it atrociously.

KenPom 2020-2021 KenPom Rankings Thread
Fullbacksympathy replied to 49r's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Yeah I was on the fence about calling a top 100 KP a bad loss, but I won't die on that hill. I wonder if we'll go up in KP regardless of a win tonight. I think our final standings there will be a pretty good benchmark of how much the team has improved since last year, which is crazy to say. -

We have zero bad losses this season. Let that sink in. There are 17 of them. -

11 3s is insane—even in JUCO. -
I love Trey at PG. He puts a ton of pressure on the defense and his passing is improving dramatically. This also gives Banton a chance to work in the post which he can't really do if he's a PG. If Banton is playing the 2 or 3, he's a big mismatch in the post.

I understand your point. I’m a college professor dealing with today’s political climate, so I very much agree that lives shouldn’t be ruined and that free speech is vital in academic settings. I strongly oppose intellectual safe spaces. This error, however, is not a free speech issue. It’s an issue of quality control. I genuinely find this analogy beyond reproach for black students in 2021. That could very well be a generational difference between you and I, but it is an egregious error that has just made many innocent administrators’ jobs hell if he isn’t fired. It won’t be forgotten by the media, students, or faculty. No chance. Right or wrong, I cannot judge his intent, but that’s also part of the problem in this case. He said it four days ago. This is a forced, top down apology. When it proves to be not enough, I imagine he’ll be suspended at the least but most likely shown the door.

No way would any CU professor get away with the same thing in class. There are certain things no one should ever say to students of color, regardless of intent. I’m not for cancel culture by any means, but he just told a room of black kids that they are on CU’s plantation. That’s him speaking as a representative of the university. Good luck playing that one down, Jays.

This is nuts. How can he possibly be retained after saying that craziness? I like him for the most part but what a complete dipshit.

Oh wait so I’m right again? I love this board.

HOLY SHITBALLS.

I did not know that, but I am also lacking in natural geometric intelligence!
-
Yeah it's a closer shot and typically the most open/in rhythm in terms of drive and kick.

I'd take him in a second if Trey approves. 34% from 3 is good enough for that kind of a frame. Super athletic and very good defender. Averaged about 15 a game this season in 16 games.
