2018 SG Aguek Arop -> San Diego St
bobcat402 replied to uneblinstu's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Where is the long term success with wasting energy to buddy up to the Omaha AAU community it's the same falicy with having to offer Nebraska kids in football just because they're local kids . If they don't help us win long term, why offer so effort, yes once in a decade we have a Chang or may help us or you could have an Agau who still has seen the court for any effective time. Miles needs to win, NU needs to win, neither should take a backseat to appease Omaha or any AAU community in Nebraska you recruit talent, If that talent comes from Omaha you, and can help you win you recruit him. -

My question is outside of Bruce Chubbick Sr and certain media, are the people directly involved with this truly upset/angered at Miles for this or more just disappointed? Is Arop himself pissed off at Miles or is he more upset/disappointed with the circumstances? They're pissed. Really pissed. The Omaha AAU community is pissed, Chubick and HS coaches are pissed and the Sudanese community is really pissed. How often do you think Chauncy Billips goes on local talk shows? As Benning said yesterday (and his kid is in the AAU scene, so he would know), "Miles may never recover (in terms of recruiting) from the Omaha metro over this." Chubick, who obviously has long ties to the Nebraska program, said all "bridges have been burned" as far as he is concerned.Ok so they're pissed. Pissed off an entire city which may produce a legit P5 talent once a decade. I think at this point Miles realizes he has to make it without Omaha or not make it at all. Arop wasn't some program changer that was going to carry us over the top. I'm not sure Miles cares or can afford to care that he pissed off the Omaha bball scene. His staffs recruiting has made major headway in other much more talent rich cities such as Chicago. A perceived bad PR move in Bluejayland isn't going to lose him the job, but not winning will. Bottom line, Arop being on the squad next year wasn't going to help him win but another stud recruit may. This ^ if miles pissed of the Chicago Hoops community or destroyed in roads with the Kansas City community I would be worried, but if he pisses of a few coaches and aau people oh well, the prospects that will get us to the NCAA reside in Chicago, Kansas City, and other areas in the Midwest -

If he hasn't developed, dosnt want to go to prep school, and isn't in a position to help us by 2018, and if miles thinks it's in the program best interest I'm all for it, no we gotta land some of these 2017 kids

NAIA is super weird and scholarship distribution in football is kinda of like distribution in college baseball cut throat as hell. I remember one year a kid got a full scholarship was supposed be the next big thing, coach gave him Money over three juniors that had been contributing and asking for a little help to offset tuition and a meal plan. When the kid turned out to be a wet turd couldn't block or pick up the schemes it got pretty ugly with parents and boosters

i was in Oklahoma City, the day of the woman crashing into the people. Me and my mom were taking a road trip to see family in Texas, and were going to stop in Stillwater maybe watch a game and catch up with some other family, we decided not too, but man that was tough to hear on the news. -

Me and my nephew, went to down to the stadium walked right past Zay and Jack and nobody really bothered them, I got a feeling with the talent on this team, if way have another good run they won't be able to auspiciously walk around campus anymore.....oh and Zay is tall -
Probly the best game to do it, will have all the recruits basketball n football in the house l

Football- At the time i had mixed feelings, but now looking at it with hindsight, its a no brainier, we have a better stronger conference, and hopefully Iowa, and Wisky hold up and continue to be competitive. Basketball- easiest no brainier bball is so much more competitive with teams like OSU having a down year but likely bouncing back next year. Other Sports- Volleyball has always been more national than conference based, so we just need to continue being a national powerhouse, conference dosnt matter, Baseball will continue to take some time, but continued success and exposure for northern teams is helping Baseball all around. Academics- no brainier, dont even need to discuss how much better it is to be with other successful academic institutions. ReP- the rep is coming as the blue bloods like NU, Penn State, Ohio St, Mich continue to get back to national prominence, and teams like Iowa and MSU keep succeeding it wont be long til Big Ten vs SEC will be an actual conversation.

I think it's mainly an issue of level of competition his ability to compete this summer against high level competition could help greatly, what dosnt help him when it comes to NU offering a scholarship is the fact that with our ability to recruit nationally and at a high level we can't afford any misses or wasted scholarships on potential projects anymore, and there may be concern about durability he has trouble gaining and keeping weight on. -
So, next year's starting lineup.

Andrew needs to look at Danny Green's career arcRight now, AWIII reminds me of a different guy on those same UNC teams - Harrison Barnes. DG is one of my favorite Carolina players of all time. Sooo savy and has such a high basketball IQ. So gaining his comparison is tough for me. Ha! My comparison was solely based on professional prospects, if Andrew wants to sniff the nba is going to have to study how Danny did it -

Andrew needs to look at Danny Green's career arcExactly. And Green needs to work on his handles too. Bad things happen when he dribbles. Good comp, though. I suppose it all depends on what scouts told him and what he took from that... but I agree that him dribbling as a primary ball handler is not what is best for our season, just magnify is importance as a shooter and become that rebounding defensive ace, let Watson, Gill, Webster, maybe Roby handle those playmaking duties -

I wish tanner wouldn't have left the team, he'd be a good practice partner for jordy

My question is does he get to keep the gear? -
Great hat as well, this gentleman is alright in my book.

As of now his only other offer is Montana State. I'd personally rather go another year not using the scholarship than take on 2 years of Link. So why do you think us offering would have no bearing on Jordy's decision? Probably cuz its been a non starter from the get go, Jordy has known that since his brother Link's visit a year ago when we didnt offer little has changed, we are not interested in Link, that the offer is for Jordy, so if he's waiting on that, i think he's know for well over a year now that wont be happening, and was probably told the same on his visit. In listening to Washut this afternoon he stated flat out, there is no offer for Link to come to NU, so i dont see that happening.

I got a bad feeling about this, but oh well
