  1. I just want everyone to know I'm doing this under protest. MN - 72 NU - 69
  2. I have two work-around ideas... 1. Have KT's parents invest in "BBB Printing," so any profits realized from the sales of their shirts can be funnelled there. Or something. I'm clearly very intelligent and knowledgeable about business. 2. Play a game in Japan, so while he is in Japan he can participate in NIL deals like Jaz Shelly did this summer. Take enough boosters and we can make it worth it while he's there.
  3. My next step is trying to figure out how I am going to do this HHC Guess the score game... I don't want to jinx us but I also want to win.
  4. Oh for sure - he's an athlete no question. He's got sneaky hops too. I think what we're saying more though is that it's not necessarily his "athleticism" from a NFL-combine perspective that is helping him excell right now. It's his type of game with the physical tools he does have that is allowing him so much success in this role. I think the point being made is he'd look and being doing almost exactly what's he doing now, whether he was playing at Duke, Nebraska, UNK, or Midland (to varying degrees obviously). Where a guy like Cale might never be able to adapt his game to a role here, but on the other end could potentially be "UNK's" best player or an All-American for Midland. If that makes sense?
  5. Spot on. Will all depend on if Cale can guard D1 guards and hit a kick-out 3pt tbh. @NUdiehard There are similarities with Griesel, some I guess. But completely different bodies. Griesel is a very long, wide 6'7". I don't know the better "athlete" is - because I'd imagine Cale might actually "test" better in things like vertical/shuttle/sprint (or whatever), but Griesel is 6'7" and long, so he wouldn't have to have the same "testing" numbers, if you will. But they do have offensive similarities in their game. I think one of Cale's biggest strengths in posting up guards and then drawing help to distribute. Great vision for the court and very unselfish. I don't think he'll ever be able to finish at the rim through traffic like Griesel can due to his length and height. But Cale can get up, especially the farther away he gets from his injury. I think it's funny you mentioned NAIA and whatnot - because you're right, Cale would probably be an All-American and probably early. Where Sam, who just played 37min against friggin Maryland, probably wouldn't be? He's just in the perfect place in the perfect role, and excelling in it.
  6. That's great, but completely not what I was talking about, given I'd already said he's not a major/mid-major D1 guy. So, if you're just wanting to have a separate conversation with your own parameters - maybe don't include me?
  7. I literally said he's a, "D2 or very small D1 guy. Steal for an NAIA team" Never made any mention of Nebraska offering.
  8. The problem with Cale at this level is that Cale is a smooth, patient, ball-control guy who is used to operating with the ball in his hands and manipulating things. Then taking advantage of mistakes, using his strength/athleticism, and whatnot... Where Sam is and has always been a shot out of cannon, energy, high IQ, quickness, flying around wild, water-bug type of player. So his game (Sam's) really translated well to being a walk-on role player. Cale's game, as a high schooler anyways, doesn't really translate to that type of role player. That being said, I believe that if Cale sticks it out, he can certainly carve out a role as a change-of-pace, quarterback style, point guard here at this level. Just a matter of if that's what he wants or not.
  9. And he had 35 Tuesday on it. He's also just a phenomenal kid. I would be beating down his door to get him to Walk-on. But fwiw - I am fully aware of Connor's game and limitations at the next level. He's made the right decision for himself. I just watch someone like Sam Hoiberg play 37 minutes against an NCAA tourney team and go, "hey, maybe not everyone out here needs to fit this perfect mold of what we think a college basketball player looks like." (*as I stare directly in the mirror and call myself a hypocrite for my views on Keisei T.*)
  10. He's a 6'9"+ Junior, with long arms and a shooting stroke/ball handling ability. You take a chance on that.
  11. Watching what Sam Hoiberg is doing - does it make any of you re-evaluate the level of player Connor Milikan of Plattview could be? Significantly better hs player than Sam. Easily a comparable athlete, and taller.
  12. How do we get the twin brother on the team too?
  13. Agreed. This is one of the best "drilled" defensive teams I have ever seen. Zero hesitations in our positioning, help, and rotations.
  14. Coaches in this thread... @Dean Smith maybe... What are you emphasizing in OT? What are the priorities? Any tips/tricks?
  15. I'm curious if you have a source for this? Especially the "Loesner has all the scouts," part. That's pretty atypical for a staff, usually scouts are rotated. I think it's pretty clear that Loesner is the "lead assistant," and is constantly in Fred's ear and is also making adjustments on the fly/calling out things - I'm not arguing with that. But the defense we are playing this year is new to this year, and it's from Howard.
  16. The defense we are playing, the base package, is 100%, entirely, completely, Howard’s matchup zone. Pass off first cutters, go with next guy and dribblers, Walker hard hedges or soft hedges ball screens while they pre-tag and then rotate top down, etc… this is entirely his defense. I’m sure Loesner scouts and whatnot and can make adjustments, but it’s assuredly not “his” defense.
  17. This is entirely Howard’s match-up zone…. Am I missing something?
  18. Yep. We were in our base coverage every possession but one late 1st half 1-3-1 match up, and a couple where we went pretty straight up 2-3. Other than that it was our base match-up zone coverage.
  19. Well they didn’t. The first 10min of that second half were one of the most atrocious things I’ve ever seen.
  20. Guys…. I was at that game. I’m physically and mentally exhausted omg… I’ve never seen a team get FU***D that hard by refs and still win.
  21. Man I thought a ton of different scenarios in there and very few allowed us to be anything other than the 10 seed. It was very hard for us to NOT be the 10 seed and very hard for us to be anything but the 10 seed.
  22. I've basically decided to tank my best HHCC season to date by taking Marlyand here in another reverse jinx. MD - 69 NU - 65
  23. Shots go in when you do all the other little things right and have great energy.
