  1. Ha! If only we could shoot like that every game. We would be Wisconsin.
  2. Amazing how fun it can be when shots are falling. Good stuff tonight all around.
  3. That felt good seeing shots go in. Hopefully it carries over ino a winnable road game
  4. Saw on FB a comparison for tonight's game and noticed our offense is ranked 296 by Kenpom. That makes us the worst offense(statistically) in comparison to other power 5 conference programs. Next closest is Texas Tech at 278. I would much rather have a great defense over a great offense. But, perhaps Miles screwed up in the offseason in hiring Molinari as opposed to someone who could breath some life into the program on that end of the floor. I don't doubt that Molinari knows a thing or two about running an offense but everything that I read centered on his defensive coaching.
  5. Ewww... I dunno HB. Obviously I agree recruiting and team building is the most important thing. But I disagree with your assessment of this team and how good they are. We have two 6'7" guys who have shown the ability to get 25+ at any given time. That's more than 95% of the teams in the NCAA can say. We play incredible defense. And they may be limited in their offensive games, but we got two big dudes who should be able to do SOMETHING.I think our issues are quite mental. I think we're gonna be fine towards the end of the B1G run. Just my thoughts At that point it may be too late....We have 5 road games and 4 home games remaining. Out of the home games two feature the top two teams in the Big 10. And at this point...I'm not sure outside of PSU if this team can win a game on the road. I think we are going to find it tough to be in position to get a NIT bid considering our schedule. We will probably be underdogs in 7 out of the last 9 games. All year we have been waiting for a third scoring option to show up...it hasn't happened and at this point it doesn't appear it will happen. Shields and Petteway are typically very solid but like most players they have nights where they are "off." When that happens it's almost a guaranteed loss for us. Hoping and praying that next year White will be that third scorer. Well I guess there we have it... Better just shut the squad down and close the doors. Start working on next year. That's what you got out of my post? Interesting. Should we not take a realistic approach to our remaining games based on what we have seen out of this team thus far? What in your mind is a "run" that you are expecting down the stretch? I will be very happy if this team finds a way to finish .500 in league play based on our remaining schedule. Sorry, was just kidding. Sarcasm + Internet = doesn't compute My apologies, I didn't catch it. With that said many of us would probably have a different outlook on the season up to this point if we took care of business like we should have vs Creighton and Incarnate Word. I think we will take some lumps down the stretch but I'm still pretty excited about the short and long term future. Now if we could just find that big man we have been waiting for!

  7. I'm curious...what should the expectations be for next year? This year I think most would have agreed early on that we were overrated in the preseason. And while if you told this board that we were going to miss the big dance and make the NIT(hopefully?) we would be disappointed but not shocked. We are still missing several pieces. But when should the expectations rise? Last year Miles said many of times that this program/team was still "one year away." I'm not thinking about expectations right now. If you want to discuss lineups, that's one thing. Why do we get so enamored with expectations?!? It's really not that important to the outcome of games, is it? How should we judge this team/program if there are no expectations? Do you think preseason Miles would had agreed that NCAA expectations were out of wack?

  10. I don't see how having high expectations is a problem for the fanbase. Sure, it should be realistic but I wouldn't have it any other way. This is team should have never lost to terrible teams like Incarnate Word and Creighton. Those games should have been gimmes. Win those two and we are sitting at 14-7 rather than 12-9. That's a big difference. But, you could tell right from the first exhibition game something was off. And while we have improved. It hasn't been enough. My expectations next year like this year will be to make it to the dance. I think that's pretty fair from a roster standpoint.
  11. If we go .500 I don't see how we are an NIT team. Unfortunately this team looks like it will end up being one of the bigger dissapointments of the year. It will be interesting to see how next year's recruiting class ends up considering Miles admitted that without the NCAA berth last year he's not sure alot of those top prospects would have listened to him.
  12. Is anyone going to tell Shields to stop shooting outside shots? I guess he can keep throwing up prayers if he so chooses.
  13. It will be an accomplishment if this team wins another on the road.
  14. We keep answering. Going to need to hit some big shots down the stretch.
  15. 15 turnovers at the half. Wow. It would be great if this staff could get this team prepared for a road environment.
  16. Ironic post from you Ron with your dig at the Husker fanbase considering your recent digs at a new Husker coach that has been in Lincoln for just two months now. I realize youre still upset Pelini was fired but it wasnt the Husker fanbases fault. Pelini has himself to blame and the decision was only cemented after more psycho like antics from him. The cancer needed to be eliminated from the program. So you may want to get off your high horse. I didn't get to watch the MSU or Mich game as I was out of the country. Going off the stats Tai played well vs MSU. Going off the stats vs Mich he didn't play well. Unfortunately, his game vs Mich has been more of the norm for him. Not his performance vs MSU. It's going to take multiple performances like that before I'm a believer. Going thru this thread again there was what...two posters who outright said Tai should transfer? And one is from New Zealand and obviously not a Husker fan? I don't think he should transfer or leave the program...but I don't think it's such a terrible thing to point out he has under performed. Stats will back up that claim. If we could get Tai to consistently play like he did against Mich St it would be huge for the remainder of the year and the future.
  17. Winning another road game will be considered a success. This team blows on the road. Terrible job all around tonight.
  18. A lot of new faces. Should be interesting. Crossing my fingers that this is the year we win the Big Ten. Maryland will be tough but Indiana should come back down to earth a bit.
  19. Some are already calling for McDermott's head. It didn't take very long. Things will get better next year for them(how can it not?)...but they better get use to being towards the bottom of their league. They will be there more often than not. I'm not so sure it's going to be better for them next year, actually. They're losing Kreklow, Dingman, Artino, Brooks and Chatman to graduation, and will depend heavily on their transfers Watson and Huff to carry the load for them. Other than that it will be up to Zeirden (if he didn't just end his career last night injuring his knee...it was a pretty ugly looking situation) and their "highly regarded" freshmen to fill in and provide depth and scoring. I'm not sold on depending so heavily on freshmen and transfers the way they will be next year. I think by default...it has to get better. Doesn't it? Maybe not. I do remember how Gilmore and Harrel were going to come in and be major contributors and starters. That was gold. Gilmore blows his RS and is used to warm up the bench for a guy like Dingman. He is looking like a solid transfer candidate for them. Make no doubt about it..in the offseason Huff and Watson will be made out to be the next great thing. #ShooterU

  21. Not sure what the jersey looks like...but could it be a Randy Gregory jersey??
  22. Perfect description He's not shy about mixing it up a bit after the whistle, and I'm sure that has made the rounds among B1G officials, so they watch for it. Regardless of whether he deserved the T or not, it was a big moment in the game, as it really got the crowd going and allowed NU to push the lead out a bit. Had to listed to the 1st half on the radio, and I thought Kent & Matt said Shavon earned his T with the "magic" word within earshot of the scorer's table/at least one official. For what it's worth. Ugh. So many 3s. This team cannot live on the 3-pt line. On the post game, Coach MIles took the bullet on the first half offense taking so many 3s, felt like he didn't call enough plays/actions. I'm guessing we'll spend most of our Sparty prep time working against zone, getting the ball inside. We're so much better - as are most teams - when shooting 3s off a pass from inside the lane. Inside-outside is key for this team's offensive flow. Amazing defensive effort carries the day again. Our ultimate success this season probably is going to end up depending on whether we can duplicate that defensive effort - without fouling - when we go on the road. It's pretty obvious teams are going to have a tough time scoring at PBA, but can we do that same thing on the road? Hmmm, something I said at halftime that Hal didn't like. With that said, our action was much better in the second half. If a team is going to zone us Shields needs to literally live in the middle of the zone and have a field day. The first half was mostly standing around with Pitchford setting a high ball screen.
  23. -Didn't mind the tech on Shields, if I was the ref I probably would have T'd him up also. But I would have done it when he was running down the court. Not as he slowly walked back...but I'm not sure what was said. Pitch's tech was turrruble. He did absolutely nothing wrong -Great work by Tai on the defensive end. I think Miles can find him some minutes down the stretch if he continues to D up like that. -Tarin...going to be a good one. Excited about his future. He's fearless out there which can't be said for a lot of freshman -Benny had a rough game...but was HUGE at the FT line for us. On to MSU...big game for this team.
  24. How much will the Huskers miss Kelly at 2nd? Does Edrington slide over to fill that spot? We will miss him quite a bit IMO. Not only his bat but he was awesome with the glove as well. The good news is we should have several different options. If someone can take control over first it would not surprise me to see Headley go back to third and slide Placzek over to second. Kind of surprised to see us in early top 25 polls but I will take it. If we want to stay there we will need Kubat to have a solid senior season IMO.
