8 Big Ten teams in Lunardi's bracket as of this morning. Just goes to show the luxury of being in this conference. Even on a perceived "down year" for the Big Ten.

locker room lockout on Mike and Mike
huskerbaseball13 replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Hard to believe...that's why I asked who the anchor is. I suspect you are correct. And that's why he failed to produce a name. The obsessed Krayton fan acted like a moronic Central grad to disguise his troll so it wouldn't surprise me to see the next troll make something up like the above. Sad life they live. -

No name? I'm going to assume you were just making it up then. -

Unfortunately this is fodder for non-Husker message boards to demonstrate our fan base is delusional. Many weeks ago I would have posted something similar. But with the current losing streak and the beat-down yesterday, I think it is time we preserve our sanity and write off the season for once and for all. If you had done this "many weeks ago..." many would have accused you of being a troll. Many weeks ago we beat Michigan State and there was a thought with the majority that we were perhaps poised for another run. We had also beaten Rutgers, Minnesota and Illinois. It was on Tuesday, January 27th that our offensive struggles truly began...and even then, for another two perhaps three games, many thought that the offense could/would get back on track. Many thought the Northwestern win brought back the offensive mojo...what did we hit, something like 60% of our shots? But then, back to the offensive woes. By they way, Northwestern, who we clubed, just recently beat the Iowa team that corked us.So it is not without reason for many of us to have thought that we still had a chance this season...a chance for a run...a chance to end the season well. Heck, we still could...but, hey...I am a bit delusional as well. Go Cubs, this is our year!!! It seems like many weeks ago, but it was actually the early morning hours of February 11th in the thread: Last Chance To Make A Run (see below). The exact time is not the point though. Back then I was still hanging onto the hope the magic would return. Since then I watched three more losses to make the losing streak 5 in a row and 7 of the last 8 games. The Iowa game pushed me over the edge. Unfortunately I live in an area that is infested with many Hawkeye fans and the abuse was overwhelming. Even the local news archor last night made the following statement: "Now we know why the Big Ten asked Nebraska and Rutgers to join the conference: To help pad the records of Big Ten basketball teams". That's right, a news anchor!!! So I apologize to all if I am a bit on edge right now after listening to comments like this all day yesterday and today. I like the spirit. But there are actually two chances. Making a run to end the regular season as you mentioned. Or making a run in the Big Ten tournament. Any moment now we are expecting the team from last season to reappear. Maybe they have saved the best for last. What news anchor said this? -

At this point I don't think I would feel safe unless I was Petteway, Shields and White. And maybe Tarin. Outside of that, I think the rest could potentially be on the chopping block. -
1. I agree Petteway is not THE problem 2. So are you thinking it's the timing of the shots? AKA...waiting until the last possible second to throw up a shot? Because Shields, Pitch, and Parker are all averaging more FGA per game this year compared to last year. Our offense was not great last year but it was far better than what we are seeing right now. Maybe Rey was that big of a difference. And if so, White seems to be a guy who will come in and not be afraid to shoot the rock next year.
-
Someone needs to rein in Petteway. The guy is averaging 7 three pointers a game shooting 31% from deep. And that's trending down...not up. I know he wants to impress the NBA scouts proving he can be a jump shooter but he is only doing more damage to his stock and the team by settling for so many long range jumpers. Some contested...some rushed. Somebody needs to let him know there is such a thing as a mid range jumper. If you think Petteway is the problem, you're not watching carefully. Petteway is not the problem. Petteway is not taking shots away from other players. Other players are turning down shots until we have no choice but to put the ball back in Petteway's hands and see if he can do something with it. That's Petteway's fault? I don't think Petteway is THE problem...but I don't think his shot selection is helping any. A guy like him should not be shooting on average 7 three pointers a game. I can't imagine he doesn't have a midrange game but thus far in his career we have not seen it.

Expect something tomorrow from Pat Forde tomorrow bashing Miles. If Miles thought recruiting was tough before the Huskers made the dance I'm afraid this season has killed off any positive momentum he had from last season. Terrible.
-
Sounds like Miles has banned the players from using the fancy practice court facilities until further notice.

This is a board full of Husker Basketball fanatics. I doubt you are going to find anyone giving up their tickets. Nor do I think we will see a major drop in ticket sales. With the type of schedule we play...how awesome the PBA is and the surrounding area we will always have great crowds.

This season and what happened...
huskerbaseball13 replied to ajb5856's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Lack of talent. Added pressure. Big heads. Questionable coaching. Long list imo. Not sure you can point to one thing. Next year will be a big year for this program and Tim Miles imo. -
I feel bad for the team that have to put up with crap comments like this. Its comments like these that are crap... they really are. I can deal with your negativity, but this comment is absolute crap. They pay money because they want to be there to watch or cheer on the team. If they don't want to be there, don't go. You don't want to be a fan, don't go. Give me an emptier arena full of real fans over a full arena full of negative neds any day. Wait for it, He's gonna say I call em as I see em. wait for it.Waiiiit for it. In the post game Miles said he wishes he could put the players to work to pay back the fans that bought tickets. I call it like I see it. [emoji1] [emoji1] [emoji1] [emoji1]

What Miles is saying is not constructive at all. He should be discussing what we need to do to make the NCAA tournament. Ha! Every team has a stinker...and we stink, but this was a tough pill to swallow. Iowa is not great and we were asleep at the wheel from the get go. No excuses for this one.

The Refs Suck. Iowa Edition
huskerbaseball13 replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I wouldn't worry about it. Some on here have a tough time dealing with criticism of the team or player. Even when it's warranted. And they hold it against other posters. We all want this team to be the best they can at the end of the day. -
