Not sure I agree with Brian on the expectations being tempered next year.

Maybe not, but I think he has played himself out of the NBA draft. What people are speculating on is if he will turn pro and go overseas. Which is a real possibility.

That, and I he may feel like he has some unfinished business in Nebraska. With that said, I really don't know what he will end up doing. I can see a case for both.

I hope Erstad took note when watching LSU. Speed kills. And that's certainly something we appear to be lacking in. Which is surprising considering Erstad's comments in the past. Overall pitching has been great though and that should get us quite a bit of wins in the Big Ten. Important home stretch coming up, time to rack up some wins.

Updated Petteway shooting stats during the losing streak..... FG's- 39/126 31% 3PT FG's- 12/59 20% All players go thru slumps, but when that same player averages close to 16 shots a game while shooting 31% you are not going to win many games. Zero in our case. Hopefully he can finish the season strong because I'm not sure we will see him in a Husker uniform again.

Our best player also goes 5/22 from the field. Can't happen.

11 for 53 from deep during our 7 game losing streak. Averaging 7.5 threes per game over that stretch and 7 per game for the year. A guy like Petteway should not be taking that many shots beyond the arc. I have to wonder if this is Petteway trying to show scouts that he has the range to play in the NBA. Unfortunately, it's only hurting himself and the team. He has already taken 57 more three pointers than he had last year. For a guy hovering around 30% from deep, that's not good.

No major offers as of yet...Northern Iowa is his best offer. What he lacks for in athleticism it looks like he may make up for it in shooting ability. I wouldn't mind having at least one sharp shooter on the team at all times even if his defense/athleticism needs some work.

Going 2-1 would get my very excited about the season. Tall task, though. The two pitchers that we are going against for A&M and LSU are studs... and this is assuming we get a win over Hawaii too, of course 0-3 would be disappointing but going 1-2 against this competition would not be surprising. After this weekend we have 16 straight home games which I think we will and need to take advantage of. I think we can win 11-12 games in that home stretch.

Looks like we are keeping the same rotation this weekend. Sinclair, Kubat, Burkamper. I think that is the right call. Going 2-1 would be a really nice weekend for us. A&M is 12-0 but really only has had one tough test...they are due for a loss. Hopefully we see Sinclair bounce back.

In a perfect world I would like him to shoot inside the arc more also, but the defenses have something to say about that. That's what coaching is all about--trying to keep guys from doing what they want to do or are best at. They are packing the paint, among other defensive schemes to limit Shavon and Terran's work closer in, as well as driving. And when those guys force the drive, we have gotten no love from the officials all year. Part of it has to do with how the defense is playing. And part of it has to do with Petteway jacking up horrible shots. And last night...some at the worst time. We are not going to win many games with Petteway shooting 8-9 three point shots a game.

Petteway during the losing streak...... FG-33/104 (32%) 3 PT-11/53 (21%) We are not going to win many games when he is shooting so poorly. Plain and simple. He is still rebounding and playing defense but his offensive slump is killing us. I get the opposing team wants to deny us driving lanes but unless he's feeling it Petteway should never be averaging 7.5 three pointers a game.

Winning series is the name of the game. Marymount is predicted to be a NCAA team this year and I saw one college baseball writer had them has a CWS dark horse. That will be a nice road series win by the end of the year. It doesn't get any easier with A&M and LSU next weekend. Going 2-1 next weekend would be really nice.
