Tarin Smith Announces Decision to Transfer
huskerbaseball13 replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I'm not sure about that situation. Just what I heard....who knows if it's true. Maybe some other can confirm or deny. -
Tai Webster tweet losing more guys it sounds like

Trimble is pretty cold blooded. If next year Watson is half as good as Trimble was this year I will be fist pumping. -

TIFWIW, but I was told Miles let him go. It sounds like Tarin's dad was a handful and has been reaching out to other programs in regards to Tarin possibly transferring. Miles caught wind of this and decided to part ways. -

I'm still hoping for another PG in this class. I don't like the idea of banking on an incoming freshman even if that freshman is highly touted. No offense to Benny, he definitely has a role on this team but his limitations on the offensive end is a killer. -
I think it's safe to say we have just as good as chance as any other team to make a deep run in June. The key will be locking up homefield advantage in regional play. Hosting a super may be tough barring an upset but I would say right now we would be a top 16 seed.

Extremely Disappointed & Concerned
huskerbaseball13 replied to hhcdave's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I'm hoping the coaches can bring in a few solid transfers or JUCO's. Pitchford mailed it in months ago..he is not a big loss. Smith I hate to see go because I think he had potential to end up being a very good player for us. I think the immediate future right now falls on Petteway's decision. -
Going 2-1 would get my very excited about the season. Tall task, though. The two pitchers that we are going against for A&M and LSU are studs... and this is assuming we get a win over Hawaii too, of course 0-3 would be disappointing but going 1-2 against this competition would not be surprising. After this weekend we have 16 straight home games which I think we will and need to take advantage of. I think we can win 11-12 games in that home stretch. Huskers finish 15-1 on the homestand. And here I thought winning 11-12 games would get us in good position. Big weekend series @Maryland. Winning 2 out of 3 would be two thumbs up.

Tarin Smith Announces Decision to Transfer

For one of the worst offensive teams in basketball last year. The thought of more/same minutes out of Tai/Benny next year does not sound good. Lets hope Miles can find a 5th year transfer guard. -

Sure hope Miles has some graduate transfers in mind. With Petteway likely leaving......next year is looking Barf. Again. -
Pitchford not playing next year....

Miles to Start Team Meetings today
huskerbaseball13 replied to Red Don's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Have also heard about Tarin Smith, would hate for him to transfer Unless he does not want to compete against both Watson and Benny next year... Can't imagine Benny would have anything to do with it. Benny will be a senior next year. Would he really rather sit out a year transferring rather have to compete with Benny and an incoming frosh? Maybe. Tarin transferring would be no bueno. I think he will be a good one. -

http://www.omaha.com/huskers/husker-coach-tim-miles-will-meet-with-players-to-discuss/article_f1f2976c-d6ff-11e4-b68f-8f414edeea8d.html Most interesting thing about the article is in regards to Hammonds. It doesn't sound like he would be on the chopping blocks if it comes down to it. -
So, what's the best conference in college basketball?
huskerbaseball13 replied to Norm Peterson's topic in College Basketball
From what I have seen...the "big" East battle cry...errrr excuse is you can't judge conferences off a single elimination tournament. But surely, you can judge conferences off some computerized formula. You can bet they would be singing a different tune if their conference didn't suck on the big stage once again. -
Umps were garbage yesterday. Two big missed calls in late innings one that should have ended the game for the Huskers. Pitching staff has been nails. Playing with house money today. Would be nice to get the sweep but we already got the job done this weekend. After yesterday not sure who will be available out of the pen. Hopefully Burkamper can go 6-7 innings. Knutson should be able to eat up some innings.

It seems like some are expecting Mich to offer and if so we can probably kiss him goodbye.

Bingo. The worms are escaping out of the can. Do we need to shut down the thread now or is everyone on board with 'going there'? Uh...I think that was a Pelini joke as opposed to an actual opinion. TP has some flaws in his game but once again has been the best player on the team for the last two years and the biggest reason we made the tourney for the first time this century. He's easily a net positive when you factor everything and we definitely want him back. That is not a Pelini joke. Atskooc? Correct me if I'm wrong please. Again (that is a Doc joke), there is A LOT of trash floating. I hope that's all it is. But I have the feeling Atskooc has heard similar things I have heard. I fully appreciate everything Terran has put into the program. You're right, we don't sniff the NCAA tournament without his strong play last year. I wasn't joking, if that's what your asking. I don't know what I believe anymore. Certainly some interesting rumors floating around. In regards to TP hopefully we will know within the next week.

Anyone in Lincoln? We are getting some good rain in Omaha. Hopefully they can get the game in tonight. The Cali boys are going to freeze their butts off.

The New "Big" East best win in the last two years has been vs an 11 seed. All their other wins have come against worse seeds. I think they can now kindly STFU until their conference actually does something of note in March. Hey...maybe Xavier keeps advancing? Probably not likely thought considering they are double digit dogs vs Zona.

Over .500 the next 5 games would be very nice. I think it's clear at the very least this team is a regional type team again....the results from the next 5 games and the series at Maryland may decide on if we host or not. I feel pretty good about our chances at home against Texas. A bit concerned with our midweek freshmen going against Fullerton. Fullerton is always deep with great pitching. It would be nice if Jake Hoensee could get a midweek start and give us 5-6 solid innings.
-
Erstad is not a guy I would want to piss off. That's for sure. I think it may have been last year when we were playing KSU and we were going thru the motions, bad at bats...errors, missed signals...and he looked like he wanted to murder someone. I get the sense though that when he talks, the players listen. It certainly didn't feel or look that way with Anderson at the helm. Two game series with Indiana State. Hoping to go 2-0 but wouldn't surprise to see us drop 1. Tough relying on two freshman during the midweek. I like our chances vs the Wolverines this weekend though.

This is frickin' crazy. Who came up with this?
huskerbaseball13 replied to Norm Peterson's topic in Other Huskers Sports
Who claims that? You? You do realize this site was most likely not created by a Nebraska fan...right? Also, I don't get why you and a few others(green arrow on your post) on this board use a few outliers as fans to bash our entire fanbase. As if a few fans thinking Miles should be on the hot seat means our entire fanbase sucks. Because...I was being a bit facetious. Also, there are outliers who tend to have a much stronger voice then the majority who tend to be strong supporters...Also, there are a number of very good fans, that like it or not, tend not to start vocally and physically support a program until after they start winning; and then, if that program starts regressing, those fans can be very strong in their negative feelings. When I played my one year in the Husker baseball program, we were lucky to have a few hundred fans show up at the Buck. Those fans were mostly student friends along with family...and yes a few others that were strong baseball and/or Husker fans. Since then, certainly more fans have shown up, but there have been ebbs and flows of support versus angst ever since. The reason for my response to that in my travels, I have encountered a number of other opposing fans who are very impressed with our support of teams, they are impressed with how friendly we are, especially to opposing teams and fans, but are also amused by our arrogance. We tend to live on our past, and when our present doesn't live up to that past, we are quick to find blame, be it on our coaches, ref's or whomever. So I was not surprised to see that Coach Riley is already on the hot seat, nor am I surprised that a few are already chirping a bit about Coach Miles. Nor am I surprised when Coach Erstad is criticized for this that or the other. And yes, this happens everywhere...I know...but oftentimes, we, as fans, do not believe we do that sort of thing. Many do not, but certainly, there is a loud group who do. He's not. That's the point. Just because you read it on the internet does not make it true. Nor does one guy putting him on the hot seat mean "oh welp....we are the greatest fans...right? Wink wink." I've seen that type of post numerous of times in the recent weeks and I fail to understand why. Is our fanbase perfect? No. Is any fanbase perfect? No. Would you rather have the reverse happen and people stop caring? Imagine Memorial Stadium with 50K as opposed to 95K...imagine PBA with 6K as opposed to 15K. Miles could win the Big Ten next year and you will still find a few fans that dislike him....that's just how it goes. No need to dump on the fanbase as a whole because you don't agree with the extreme minority. Of course we live in the past...our past is awesome! We should be proud of our tradition. I agree, point made and apology provided. No need to apologize! I agree with you 99% of the time...and I didn't mean to jump on you but I've just seen that line a few times in the recent weeks. I just think we have a unique great fanbase. And I'm sure for the most part you hold the same feelings. As for the OP, I don't think his opinion is coming from the Nebraska fanbase. Sure, some are skeptical which is understandable and would have happened with any coach outside of a select few. I'm sure there will be some bumps in the road but I think the staff will be given time to right the ship. -

Yep. He's not the only one who has heard the same. That's why I was confused by Lee B's tweet. We will know soon enough.

The crowd was awesome. FGCU is also expected to compete for an Atlantic Sun title so they are not a bad team by any means.
