Good luck, Jimmy. Pulling for you. Saw a game in Fenway on 6/4, from the Green Monster, and Big Papi won it with a two run walkoff homer in the bottom of the 9th. The karma continues, obviously. Just remember your buddy HB if they win it all.

Status Quo seemed to work well! Seriously, I am fine with your bonus ideas. Thanks for agreeing to score again. HB, HHCC Title Defender and Cip Salsa Consumer

Deceiving is right, I hope that was the right number and they don't start padding the actual attendance like Iowa St. does. I estimated 5,000 while at the game. the lower bowl holds a lot of people on the sides, and the sides were pretty full. Great crowd for an exhibition game. I think they got it right on announced actual attendance.

Other than perhaps the free-throw shooting part of this, none of it should come as a surprise. The surprise would have been if a group this inexperienced did not struggle in these areas. Patience still required.

http://www.collegesportsmadness.com/article/7628 That second quote is ridiculous. We no more have dominant size in the front court than the man in the moon. We don't even have a true center. 4 pak of Hooper, Cady, Simon and Havers aren't close to "dominant in size" for upper D1.

I see what you did there, Cip.....

Bon Jovi for Nebrasketball: Do we need to stop it?

This may be old news to many of you, but I just learned that Jesse Carr suffered a career-ending second tear of his left ACL during the second practice of the season at Colorado State. Tough luck for Jesse and the Rams, as he had been granted a 6th year of eligiblity and had fought back from the ACL tear which kept him out of the Ram's great season last year. I always enjoyed watching Jesse play, and wish him the best in future endeavors. CSU will be now be down to one Nebraskan, former Ralston Ram Dwight Smith.

I fail to see how they are "saving" a year even if they transfer. If the player RS his freshman year, and then transfers later, he will have exactly the same amount of eligibility with his "new" team as he would have had if he had played his freshman year and then used his RS for this transfer year. For instance, if Vooch had RS last year, he would be a RS freshman this year rather than a sophmore. Thus, if he were to transfer after this year, he would have 2 years of eligibility with his new team no matter whether he RS his freshman year or whether he "saved" his RS for the transfer year. The net result is exactly the same. The difference for the original team he signs for (in this case Nebraska) however, can be significant. Because, if Vooch were to develop strength after this year and develop into a good player who can be a contributor next year and thereafter, he has essentially wasted a full year that he could have "saved" until his "5th" year when he would have been at his peak productivity. There is no rationale whatsoever IMO to burn a players eligility for a few garbage minutes his freshman year. Often the decision isn't made by "rationale". Regardless of whether your arguments are sound (and I think they are), many (most?) kids are unwilling to redshirt these days. And that discussion comes up during recruiting. Word has it that Vooch made it clear before signing that he wouldn't redshirt. Now, some guys and their support system are mature enough to switch gears if they show up and it turns out being told how wonderful they were every day by AAU coaches and recruiters wasn't quite an accurate description, but that is probably the exception rather than the rule. Redshirting would benefit a lot of players, but that doesn't mean they will do it. The concept of delayed gratification is becoming extinct.

I typed up a similar response in many different ways and decided to leave it alone. Who knows what will happen in two years. Jays fans should enjoy the ride and Husker fans should enjoy what they have going on. Very sensible post. Once again Cousin Mose is the voice of reason. Does that have any place on messge boards?

Any update on his chances of being eligible? Earlier suggestions were that eligibiltiy was a long shot.

Free Rivals article - Miles Press Conference

In other words, have some patience with recruiting. Fine by me. -
OWH article gives more detail. Sounds like lots of hardware in the ankle now. Not sure he ever gets back all the way, despite his youth. I know that when one is 49 when it happens, there are permanent limitiatons....

Firethorn is a great course, but Lincoln Country Club has more amenities by far, which families like--tennis, better swimming pool, etc. Most of the coaches don't have time to work on their golf games or devote much time to golf--and Firethorn is geared toward serious golf rather than a country club atmosphere. Firethorn beats you up if you're not pretty good. So LCC makes more sense for most of them, especially those with wives and kids at home. I don't see many coaches over there (Firethorn) playing; Jamie WIlliams is there quite a bit. Sadler played there some, but was a fixture at LCC.

Good work, Cip. In fact, I'm a little jealous. Nothing is better than the 'ol hometown. I will definitely roadtrip to dine at your place. I may even bring a designated driver with me, so I can sample many of those adult beverages. HB -
I believe Club ticket holders to PBA would have first opportunity to procure their club seats--unless an NCAA tournament is exempted for the PBA club seating policy, which says for any event at PBA you get first crack at your seats. Beyond that I would expect women's season ticket holders to get some level of priority. Not sure about men's, but it will come out fairly soon I would think.

Prepare for board meltdown. Good effort by our guys. We'll be OK.

jdostal states it well with "reliable sources not being infallible" given that this is recruiting. Anything can and sometimes does happen. With that caveat in mind, I also heard from someone who should be deemed "reliable" that Elbert's OSU visit didn't go well (despite what may be found on Twitter), and the choice is more likely between LSU, NU, and possibly even A & M as a "stay close to home" curve. And I wouldn't conclude from Harriman's tweet that Miles and Hunter haven't paid a visit to Elbert in recent days. Now, watch him sign with OSU

Wowser! Jdostal wins the HHC vocab award for the year with "decathecting." This is honestly the first time I've ever had to look up a word in a message board post. Nice job, my man. This from the guy who types "Coq Au Vin".....

This is the truth! The questions that Sam McKewon asks the players are obviously geared towards trying to get them to say something controversial. Which then causes trouble in the locker room. Which then means play on the field suffers. So, I think we can all come to the conclusion that Sam wants the Huskers fail! But in all seriousness, he is a slimeball reporter. Just a way over the top post. We all have our preferences among the OWH guys. I happen to think Sam is an excellent writer; and is extremely knowledgeable about football. I think he is the most balanced and objective; keeps his ego and personal agenda out of it (unlike Lee B, for example). Over all I am not happy with the OWH approach the past few years, and believe the OP by CWG has some merit. But to call Sam a "slimeball" is just ridiculous. .

Sounds like quite the tour... After one of the concerts, it took us 10 minutes.

Jimmy, I appreciate your views, and concur with many of them. However, if you dare venture down there again, you might want to avoid entering the Haymarket area at 9th and Q. The pre-opening press releases said to avoid P and Q. The big LJS supplement was pretty descriptive on the best options for driving and parking. We have had no trouble (in fact, it's way better than entering Devaney from the South on what used to be 14th street) entering on N street. Traffic moves nicely there before and after events. We have parked in the Red Deck garage so far and it really hasn't been bad at all exiting after events.

No doubt, Norm; not a good course. Although I torched the piece of crap; it's not hard. My sign would say that there is a 50% surcharge for anyone wearing Jay gear.
