uneblinstu's post game chatter: vol 6, ed 4 - SC State

I definitely saw this...was he trying to check himself into the game or something? Where was Doc when he needed him! -

Saw some chemistry/attitude things today I wasn't pleased with. Petteway is very demonstrative on the floor, in a negative way. Would like to see Miles sit him down and watch the film on how he visibly reacts to everything that happens. Conveys a self-absorption from my standpoint--that it is about him more than the team. Maturity needed. Saw a couple of times when he didn't get the ball and fussed with Tai over it. Seemed like sometimes he should have gotten the ball, but the passer was thinking "I'll never see it again if I throw it to him". Pitchford had bad body language and poor reaction to adversity as well. With some extra talent, Miles may have some more coaching to do. What was the deal with Pelz? He got up once to go in, was taking his warmup off, and then he and Miles had words, and he sat back down. Then more words. He never played a minute, even at garbage time. Anyone see or hear any of this? -

They tweaked the scoreboard today at the men's game, and now the stats show rebounds and assists, in addition to points and fouls. Row 6 will be fired up!

Recruiting Corn-Husker-copia: Women Ink Top 20 Class
HB replied to Row6Seat10's topic in Row 6 Seat 10
Nice reporting, Row 6! She must have located that phone number she lost! Does this mean Romeo and Theriot will spend a lot of time at the 2-3? Are they all interchangeable? -
we got them. Row 10 in the middle, I believe. Not our regular seats. But very good ones. Would be so happy if the Huskers are playing.

Norm--are you off a year? She's only a junior. Do the majority of kids really commit now in July or August when signing date isn't until 15 month from then? If we have gotten to the point where committing almost 2 years prior to enrollment is "taking so long to commit", then the world is getting whacky. I realize Shepard and the Rolfzen twins pulled the trigger years in advance, but I wouldn't call Simon's verbal as coming late.

I appreciate the well-thought out response. Not sure we have enough shooters, especially from long range. Other than Pitchford, and Ray when he is hot, who can stroke the long ball fairly consistently? I saw some lineups tuesday where there were no shooters, or maybe one being generous. Too many guys you don't have to guard. We can get by with that against lesser talent, but despite the new rules, I think "just getting to the rim" will be harder in the Big 10 than we think--some aircraft carriers and big, physical guys in there. If Tai can shoot it better from 15+ than he has looked so far, it will help him and us tremendously. -

Is there any thought that Biggs isn't healthy? He has been suspended, not injured. Not sure what the basis is on here for expectations of "large numbers". Unless he has dramatically improved his outside shooting. And dramtically reduced his turnovers. Good teams, i.e. Big 10 teams, aren't just going to let Biggs and Webster take it to the rack if they don't shoot it well enough to require defenses to guard them away from the bucket. Time will tell, but defenses adjust at this level. -

Bon Jovi for Nebrasketball: Do we need to stop it?
HB replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Fred, that is so awesome; great post. That's some damn good "white guy dancing". -
Supposedly the first rows on the sides aren't elevated enough for anyone to see over the team/coaches, or scorers/media tables. After the first couple of women's games, many people in those seats went to the ticket office and got new seats, which they were able to do since many prime lower bowl seats weren't sold out. Ironic since those folks got the choicest seats based on previous BDSC seating locations, but they didn't translate so well to the new place. One somewhat annoyed longtime booster said "The only thing I could see was Connie's butt, and that's not what I came to watch". It would just seem to me that with the high level engineering involved, all sight lines would have been figured out.

"Long possessions and a hurried shot at the end of the shot clock"....Where have we seen that before??

We could have a pinned Shavon thread or link; perhaps titled "49er Man Crush Update"...... -
If I'm Tim Miles... Re: starting lineup
HB replied to basketballjones's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Interesting that Biggs is being annointed as a starter sight unseen (at this level). I'm going to take a wait and see approach to this. I don't know that it is a given that he is a major minutes guy. Will be interesting to watch it unfold. -
At what time where trying to get into the garage I got there at 6 and got right in parked at an exit got right out. and an 1.5 hrs later I'm home. I hit O street at 9:12 ____________________________________ You must have timed it perfectly Bugs. By 6:20 there was a long line. It's a lot worse for women's games since they don't restrict it to prepaid donor parking. Must take a long time to process payment. They need to figure something out. There were some very unhappy people streaming into the arena, doing some venting.

But, there will be ups and downs. Happens to every true freshman. It even happened to Shavon (although 49er might have missed the down games ) and it will happen to Tai. It won't just be a solid up line. He'll have some great nights and a few clunkers, but over all I'm buying that stock.

Agree with Row 6 takes. Glad Cady showed up, or it might have been tight. She is fun to watch. Has really stepped up her game. I don't think I have ever seen a Connie team play this much zone. Obviously Bama couldn't shoot well from the outside.

Just like many things on here, you will get a variety of opinion. From my standpoint, most anything in the lower bowl is decent. The end zone seats are much further away form the court than at Devaney. The first 3 rows in the end zone have some obstructions--basket apparatus, cheerleaders, scarlets (some may call this a good thing). There are also some first row seats on the sides that are obstructed--inexcusable. During the open house, I sat in the 200 and 300 level upper deck seats. I thought they were way too high and far away from the action. I would rather stay home and watch any televised game than sit in those, even if the tickets were free. However, others have said they aren't bad. If you do go for upper bowl seats, watch out for the the first couple of rows, which have obstructed views due to the safety rails or whatever you want to call them.

Post-game reactions to the new digs and the whole "experience."
HB replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Railyard experience before and after was great. Gate 25 was hopping before the game. Reminded me of the old days when there were postgame gatherings of Husker fans and you knew a zillion people: The old downtown Cliff's during the Moe era, and Barry's when Danny had it going. One beer at N Zone after the game, and the Red 1 garage was cleared out for an easy departure to east Lincoln. By the end of the season Silverbacked will have nothing on me!
