  1. I can't do the Throwback thing (he is the best), but I did listen to most of it. Nothing earth-shattering from a basketball standpoint. Miles was his usual glib and funny self. The best and most important news of the night: Harriman had a guest segment. He reported that his son is doing well, is currently done with his treatments, and is getting stronger. He wore his Shavon Shields jersey 3 days in a row. He has 3 jerseys: Durant, Lebron, and Shavon, so Shavon is in pretty good company. While Chris was on air, Hammond texted Coach Miles that he was listening to the show. Miles said he made a mistake by running screen and roll offense early. Creighton played this very soft, switching all the screens. We actually expected this and worked on it in practice, but then, Tai hits a couple of 3s and Terran hit one (in practice), so they didn't really hear, or believe, the admonition to not just stand out there and shoot 3s. Are always told to love the rim; like the 3. Part of the learning curve for young guys. At halftime asked the players for a show of hands--who thought we could still win the game, be honest. They all raised their hands. They probably lied, but he liked the answers. Wanted to cut it to 15 by the 10 minute mark, maybe get within 8 with 5 left, but couldn't get there; made some mistakes during runs. Shavon and Petteway played great the second half. Leslie played his worst game so far. Just didn't bring much energy. Part of learning how to be consistent. Ray and Rivers not mentioned. Talked about Hawkins. He really knows how to play the game. Type of guy who can run your stuff. He had been on scout team for a couple of weeks and hadn't been running our stuff. Picked it up right away. Can play the 2 and 3, and maybe even the 1. Really likes his basketball smarts. 3 or 4 of Miles' siblings texted in. South Dakota stories and such. Helping keep the show's ratings up; they are obviously all tuned in to the show. Loves Harriman, told of his interview with him at the Final Four. Had 45 minutes slotted, they talked 2 and a half hours. Harriman claims he talked twice during that interview. Harriman has the Arkansas State scout. Said they are good; have 5 good guys and a big-time scorer; I can't remember the name but coach said it. Talked to Colorado coaches and one other; they said Arkansas State was the best team they had played outside of Ohio State. (presumably it was before CU played KU unless I got the wrong team). Well, that's all I can get out. Poor substitute for Throwback; hopefully he's back next week.
  2. Still very overrated.
  3. Actually, I just read all the threads posted today, and in each one, you did the most hard core bitching and whining of anyone. It's a free country for you to go full-out critical and negative on our guys if that's what makes it real for you, but take it easy on those who choose to have a little more positive outlook.
  4. Thin everywhere. I just can't understand how we only took one player the year we signed Theriot, and no one really ready to play from this year's freshmen class. And we try to make it with only 10 players. Havers might get a little tougher by conference season, but it will take the offseason to really improve her strength.
  5. Man, if we can get Lanie, to go with our other signees and commitments....hard not to dream about....
  6. Yes. He was recruited to play, and we will need him in the conference. Competition for playing time will be a positive and keep some guys on track with how coach wants them to play.
  7. I also saw Tai push away from Miles at the end of the half. And Ray's struggles with his role this year vs. last year are obvious. Those guys better not push it. In only his second year, Miles doesn't have to win now, and can and will get control of his guys. He won't let Ray become a season long issue. Not sure where Rivers fits in this, if it is how he is playing and practicing, or attitude. There are some disjointed parts, which isn't surprising given all of the new guys, and the lack of obvious senoir leaders like Ubel and Talley. Ray is probably not that guy naturally. But if he doesn't lead as a senior, he needs to at least not go the other way with his body language and attitude. Whatever, he needs to get on board the TEAM train. This team is very inexperienced, is short a big or two, and while more athletic and talented than last year, not anything special in the Big 10. Can't help that, but attitude is within our control. It will take some work to keep them together as a team. I like having the Christmas break coming up. They will spend a lot of time together, with the only focus on basketball. Hopefully they will pull together, and without a major event. But Miles will demand team over individual, and if individuals can't get on board, I suspect he will be decisive.
  8. Has to be his M.O. because he's not that good. Not enough game to not lead with being a thug.
  9. Murren shoots it way better than Tvrdy. She can make the spot up jump shot on ball rotation when Hoop and Cady get doubled. Hannah is strong and has long arms as adefender at the 2, but is slow and her shot is very flat. Both are good kids but are marginal for this level.
  10. Strange game. Not sure I've ever seen a team have 2 players pick up 4 fouls in the first half. Might be the fastest team to put it's opponent in the double bonus in the first half. Great games by Hoop and Cady. Sample, after playing well the last two games, was lost today. 25 Husker turnovers were a problem; many had nothing to do with the trapping defense. Havers' lack of strength is going to be a problem this year. Wish we could have redshirted her.
  11. Glad the cavalry is on the way. Lots of playing time will be available for the freshmen next year.
  12. HB

    KU VS CU

I can't stand them either, but Boyle can coach. Great hire by CU after the football misses.
  13. No kidding on the coaching, Norm. It seemed like every timeout during a Miami possession resulted in a dunk or wide open shot. Larranaga was drawing 'em up last night. By the way, Norm, where is your parking spot?
  14. He almost had a triple double in points, rebounds, and missed bunnies. Had to be frustrating He clearly wasn't at 100%; limped noticeably early in the game--looked like a foot, calf or ankle bothering him. Hopefully it isn't anything that will linger. When you're worrying about landing, it can affect the bunnies.
  15. Might be she misses but don't you think that her just shooting would make the opponent have to guard her. No.
  16. Haven't been for a long time; we just had a pretty convenient schedule
  17. I'm with you, 316. Perhaps the late start will result in a little more fuel in people for noise and enthusiasm.
  18. Metaphor for our young team? Gotta learn to crawl before you can walk....
  19. Coach confirmed Miami is in town and said they were eating at downtown Misty's tonight.
  20. Great job, Throwback. I actually was able to listen tonight, and you didn't miss a thing. Good to know I can miss a show but not really miss it due to your summary.
  21. Ominous stuff about the knee.
  22. How healthy is he at this point? Disciplinary action to start the season, and some really spotty performances so far. We NEED Ray to be a player we can lean on. He suffered a lateral knee sprain in the 2nd half of the UMass game. Is he 100%? No, not anywhere near right now.
  23. Yep, it didn't look that bad at the time for those watching closely. Frazier can play.
