Fun game tonight; finally back to the hotel. Hour and a half train ride. Will never live in an urban area. Both teams left some points out there, but we were the more talented team. Nice win. And our fans: unbelievable. I don't know what it looked like on TV, but easily, 70% was in red. Of all the K-State and KU games back in the day (and Notre Dame), I've never seen anything like it.

Eppley looked like a tailgate outside of memorial stadium this morning. Just landed in Chicago. Cloudy. Seems As if we will take over the stadium again tonight. GBR

I believe this kid's dad is the AD at Yankton High, and was a good player in South Dakota in his day. Had a walk-on opportunity in football at NU. Matthew is also a good football and baseball player. Miles spoke to the Yankton FCA in September '15 and rumor has it had a shoot-around with Matthew that day.

Saw Allen today on his recruiting visit. He and Miles watched a few points of the volleyball game. I'd say 6'1" is about right, if not a little inflated. He looked nervous, wasn't smiling--perhaps in awe of our awesomeness. So true story--they are standing in the corner of the arena, and one of the event staff geezers comes over and tells them they can't stand there. So they had to to go sit down. Miles just looked at him, like "you're kidding me, I'm Tim Freaking Miles, way to make me look good old man". Man, those folks like their rules! Hey Shawn, perhaps have them loosen up a bit, and have rules become merely guidelines when it involves your head basketball coach and a recruit.

Great article. The take on the early recruitment and offer of Roby was interesting. Perhaps that explains the (too) early offer to Arop. It doesn't always work out, but at NU you have to take some chances. Easy to be critical from the sidelines.
