I watched some of that Creighton game last night. Without a top tier player like they've had in the past their offense looks a lot like our offense before we had Palmer who can go get his. Just a lot of swinging the ball around until the shot clock practically runs out and they have to throw up an ugly shot. Pretty hard to watch.

Nebraska (12-4) vs. Indiana (12-4) Game Thread

The Creighton fans that I know would gladly trade for this team I can say with the utmost certainty. They get more defensive when I talk about the program as a whole compared to this year's teams for each respective university. -
If Hoiberg hates recruiting as much as everyone says he does, UCLA would be a good home for him.
-
Fair. How much do you think McDermott was paying players at Wayne State when he beat Miles and SW Minnesota State 7 times back in the day? I’m sure someone has a source.

Does Kenpom account for one coach owning real estate in another coach's head?
-
Good point. I'd like those match-ups a lot better.

Here's my take on potential assignments: Glynn - Mintz Palmer - Ty-Shon Allen - Ballock Copeland - Jefferson Roby - Krampelj That's assuming Creighton uses their starting lineup they've been using. With that lineup we have a pretty significant size advantage with Palmer and Copeland, so I could see them maybe starting one of their 7 footers instead of Jefferson who's only 6'5" and having Krampelj move over to the 4. To be honest I don't trust Allen guarding Ty-Shon or Ballock, so I just went with Palmer guarding their best player simply because of experience purposes, even tho JP has left a lot to be desired defensively as of late. Thoughts?

I, for one, am very happy Omaha is nothing like New York or Chicago.
-
Added to the fact that they're now a part of what many pundits would consider a "power" conference for basketball. I never had much vitriol for them no matter how good they were when they were in the Missouri Valley.
-
Now that I have never heard of before. A team within the same conference? That is unreal.

This is exactly how my friends in Omaha are. They even went to UNL, but grew up going to Creighton bball games here in Omaha so have more of a devotion to Creighton bball than Nebraska bball. They'll cheer heavily on Husker football Saturdays for Big Red, but won't clap to the fight song this coming Saturday while we're at the game and they're wearing blue. I give them a hard time, but I also realize I can't make them like a different team just because of where they went to college. Nevertheless, it's a fun rivalry and I love it.

No. Just like the committee wouldn't go down the RPI rankings list in years past and seed by rank, they won't do for the NET. I agree with @hhcmatt I think we'd be in the 4-6 range if it started today.

I'm more worried about Aamir Simms, a super athletic shot blocker just like Tariq Owens from St. John's/Texas Tech who has given us problems.

Exhibition: Nebraska vs Wayne State - Nov. 1

Palmer has NBA on the brain -
I definitely agree with you guys that there's smoke there. No question. And I'm not saying Dawkins didn't lie. I have no idea what those calls pertained. I was just more bothered by the fact our fans keep saying "he said it under oath" when what he said under oath doesn't mean anything. If Dawkins took the stand that's a different story.
-
Bowen received the offer from Dawkins. DAWKINS. How many of this fan base on this board/twitter/wherever are going to make the mistake of thinking Bowen got an offer directly from Murphy/McDermott/Creighton according to his sworn testimony? Bowen said that Dawkins told him that Creighton was making that offer and that Murphy would supply it. That's all that was said under oath. We have no clue if Dawkins was lying to Bowen or not that's the scenario.
-
There aren’t any wire tapes that would pin Creighton. The FBI started bugging Dawkins in July after all of this happened.
-
All I’m saying is give me facts. Yes I think the many calls between Preston and Dawkins are suspicious. But they’re both friends that grew up in Saginaw. I mean I’m assuming yes they talked about Bowen. I feel like I’d be naive to think otherwise. But we don’t know if there was an legitmate money offer made. It’s all assumptions.

Creighton Cheating Scandal Press Thread

I have friends here in Otown that are Creighton fans so I hear both sides. One of the things I keep hearing is the "under oath" thing. The only thing under oath that was said was from Bowen, who testified he received an offer from Dawkins regarding Creighton. That's entirely different than saying a Creighton staff member directly made him an offer. The only real concrete evidence out there would be if Dawkins took the stand (which he refused) and testified against Creighton, or the if wire taps found something. Other than that you have hearsay and phone records? Neither of those would find Creighton guilty of anything. I said before that nothing will come of this because the NCAA wants to look the other way, but even now if that's the only evidence they'd get they wouldn't be able to do anything with that in terms of sanctions. The only guilt is guilt in the public eye, which Rasmussen is obviously pissed about. -

Dirk wrote an article to get attention, without having any concrete evidence the Creighton staff did anything wrong. I'd be pissed too if I was Rasmussen, or Moos if it was our situation. -
I listened to it as well and really liked it actually. Two beat writers just calling it as they see it for both teams. I’d recommend it.

I've been watching a lot of highlights of our games from last year as I usually do when a new season is about to start. I think we're underestimating how good Anton really was last year. That dude hit a lot of shots for us (especially clutch ones down the stretch), and actually got to the rim more than we think. Hopefully Allen can do the some of the same but I don't think that's his game.

It was a very awkward exchange. Sometimes I just wonder if the guys running these things have any common sense. From the tunnel walk playing a different random tune after Sirius the first couple games that got no one in the crowd fired up (except for Minnesota when they just let Sirius play out, and lo and behold we won haha) to the decision to have the coaches talking the entire scrimmage? And then no dunk or 3 point contest between the team? Just weird.
