Question for the Husker insiders....
tcp replied to Husker Hoops Penitent's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
These are decisions I happily leave to coaches and players. They're in the best position to know who can do what and, more importantly, what NU needs to be successful. A lot more than I'll ever know, that's for sure. I do believe that you honor schollies unless the player violates the terms. This is still college, and I'd prefer we didn't completely abandon the illusion that education is still a virtuous pursuit. -
I wasn't sure if Lutz's position came with any restrictions on it, although how game planning could violate anything I couldn't begin to imagine. Still good to know. I really enjoyed watching Doc coach at Southern Ms and I wish some of our people could've seen that, too, to appreciate just how good of a coach he really is/was. I dig this staff, though. I think you guys are in for some very fun year ahead. I'm hoping to catch one or two more myself...:)

Looks like it might be about time to welcome Doc back!

Good to see Doc back in red again. -
Doc getting most of them you think?
-
decent winner. every court looks better when you win on it anyway.
-
His transition D's probably going to be a bit rusty.
-
Well, I'm thinking it's not working?
-
Well, a lot of us will find out just how fat we got the last few years if Doc comes back.
-
Got my "Doctor is N' one somewhere.
-
Nevermind. Norm dealt with it in better humor than I wanted to.
-
sigh. here we go.
-
It's yours! :) Mine's "Jesus, I'm dead already. Go bug someone else."

Boehm finally hit the part of the career ladder with no rungs. Well, he did pretty well for a guy with no discernible skills or duties. Not easy to make that kind of bank when no one actually knows what you do.

I know a lot of lawyers and this one drives them nuts. The number of older expressions that get mangled in colloquial language is impressive. What's neat is that languages change over time largely because of old mistakes that catch on!

For anyone with a penchant for learning things: https://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/toe-the-line.html There's another explanation missing from the UK phraseology that some might find interesting. "Toe the line" was in heavy use in the British military, rumored to be descended from firing squads in wartime where a line was drawn for the executioners to get to an ideal distance to the condemned. To "toe the line" was a euphemism for carrying out a difficult duty. A similar explanation also courtesy of the Brits as well as US soldiers during the Civil War involved the metaphorical line of a skirmish line. Also a difficult duty, but with an added element of danger. So.....I'm a pathetic geek. It's a cool phrase, because as much as it's used correctly, there's no real consensus as to its origins. Next weeks grammar police seminar: It's not "the proof is in the pudding".

Really? I had only one bracket and this was my pick for the title. I didn't think I was going especially out on a limb. I went with the two best defensive clubs as I saw them. Weird. Speaking of weird, heading for another combined 42 point first half. Edit: Probably should've said 32. Phew, this one's going to be brutal.

One down. Edwards' stock probably couldn't go any higher. A few more underclassmen I wouldn't mind saying farewell to. Except for perhaps one...:)
-
My championship bracket's still alive. I had Tech versus UVA. Might be the first time in decades that I've done that.
-
has to be hard seeing Shepherd's success at ND. She had a a big game tonight, apparently.
-
yeah, that does. hopefully he'll be happier. well, if we're going to have a bare cupboard, year 1's the time to do it.
-
Wish him luck. This had to be in the cards for some time. That seems like a pretty fast transfer.
-
Good for Zay I wish him well. If it doesn't work out, always a seat at the table for the young brother.
-
geez, already losing a recruitment battle to Oats and Alabama? Buyer's remorse! Aaaaaggghhhhhh! *for the humor impaired, this post is silly. thank you for catching yourselves before you typed.

get off my lawwwwwnnnnnnn!

When I was 20 I could, too. I also had no hope of getting off ten clean shots against Div 1 competition. It's sorta like combat (but not at all like that): targets don't shoot back, so they're much easier to hit than the real thing.
