  1. finally. digging a bit deeper.
  2. no team ball. one pass and a drive, defended or not.
  3. the effort isn't there, really.
  4. are these guys gassed already?
  5. Sigh. you can almost see the guys fixing to unfold the white flag. Slow switches, communication, little passing, sigh.
  6. the whistles are a touch more sensitive--literally--against us it seems.
  7. this is where the program's struggled so much. taking that had gut punch. and is it me or does defensive intensity look diminished already?
  8. we're right there, just keep fighting for those boards and take fewer hero ball shots, and we gotta chance. banton is a blast to watch going into the paint, isn't he? it's like frigging spiderman.
  9. I'm pretty much in "Missouri Mode": Show me. I figure sooner or later someone's gotta get a little hot with the rock. Maybe it's today, maybe not. I do want this team to play hard for 40 minutes regardless. Build a mentally tough team, and the talent there is will eventually start making a difference.
  10. RIP Kirsty MacColl. She was such a spark plug on that song live.
  11. you're a day early, so this might be a record for premature game thread?
  12. I'll take your word for it and plead the Dylan defense: apparently the times, they are a-changin'. But we're still not.
  13. I haven't followed women's ball much since Connie got booted (damn shame, that, since she built a nice program at NU). But when I saw that score against "mighty" Indiana, my reaction was, "really"? B1G's just tough basketball conference all the way around now, and it's had to build a top half program in it without a staff that's good at damned near everything. But as a general rule, the coaches that are keepers reveal themselves fairly early in their tenures. I'm not certain that's WIlliams.
  14. This happens to hockey goalies all the time. many goalies need to take a lot of shots to keep sharp, otherwise they start napping a bit. as an old Red Wings fan, that was one of their long-time achilles heels: finding a goalie that could handle being lonely for minutes on end because their defense was so good as to prevent shots from getting on net. when I played basketball as a kid (not my primary sport), I could only handle so much rust in a game before I just lost all sense of rhythm.
  15. better effort than I expected. pieces don't quite fit yet. and this Badger team is a good team. i'm optimistic for the next season or two. just gotta get this bunch to mesh into a better whole, but I could easily see Doc's defensive training starting to take and now it's just a matter of getting the right shooting parts to work a bit better. I do predict that at some point this season, Teddy takes a swing at someone in the conference. Teams are going to go after what's between his ears.
  16. definitely game. grim fold here. gotta learn how better to take a bigger punch. experience a big difference in this one.
  17. gotta make those damned bunnies
  18. we're in it. that's better than I was expecting. I'll take it. Give me another half of basketball, give or take a monster run.
  19. well, there's the run back. going to be a different game the rest of the way.
  20. and the foul afterward. oops!
