Atewe retracts commitment, opts for a minor league hockey contract with Clacketoon, ALB

Normally losing a player like Atewe isn't going to bug me. It does this year for two reasons: first, we're dying on tall for next season. Second, we lost a recruiting battle to a crappy SEC team. And really, it's the second reason bugging me the most. On the other hand, as Norm just reiterated, we've done pretty well with the class as a whole, and we have. ANd hey, Michigan's done pretty well with a guard heavy team, so there's that.

well, it was a brick fest and an ugly game to end a career with, but congrats to Lindsey for 4 great years. This team wound up going further than most expected it to. And almost everyone's back next season for another shot. good job, huskers, on a successful 2013 campaign!

Duke has great size and good athletes. Really need Hooper to step up and make some shots. I think she's 0 for 8 right now.

This sucks. Losing a recruiting battle to Auburn for a guy who maintained we were his number 1 for some time. Sigh. The beat goes on for NU.

the talent gap between the top few teams and everyone else is still disgustingly large in women's hoops. this will be a difficult game, but at least we're not playing them on their home floor. that drives me nuts about the women's tourney--they go out of their way to advance the top seeds.

Tai Webster may not be coming to NU after all? I guess this guy's a talk radio dude, but has anyone heard any of these "rumors" he alludes to in his tweet this morning? Sorry, I'm completely ignorant on how to report tweets and I'll stay that way. But I read it on an SB Nation board earlier (hat tip, Corn Nation).

Not surprised by the Tubby news at all. Not sure how attractive the Gopher job is right now, but if they're willing to throw a truckload of cash.... Some good talent potentially returning for the Gophers. Could help attract someone. Cupboard will definitely not be bare. Should be the last of the carnage in the conference.

Gonzaga was room service for that upset, but still 6 or so points short. KU will survive. Might be the only 12 team that gets past the first round. Rough year for our old mates.

I was just getting used to the idea of NU-Michigan as being the highlight of the season. Loved having MSU, since we kind of own them. The good side is that this will probably cement what should be a potential 3-way rivalry with Iowa and Wiscy for some time. Now we have to hold up our end and start beating the bloody badgers. Or is that beating the badgers bloody? I'm good either way.

I'll welcome you, abq. That said, I'm not sure I personally care about how the old Big 8 did in basketball this year. Hopefully we'll not have to worry about comparisons like this in two years. Hopefully.
