That's probably about as solid of a hire as they could have dreamed for.

Idk why people are taking this season so hard. We only returned Shields, Webster, Fuller, Hammond, and Parker from last year. Hammond and Fuller barely played last year. Parker and Webster weren't that great last year either. So basically you return Shields, two role players, and two bench players. Then you add in 5 freshmen and a transfer who had never saw meaningful minutes in his college career and you have a very inexperienced and small team. That's not gonna turnout good in any power 5 basketball conference. Aside from the upset @ Michigan State we didn't beat a credible team all year. But we did play alot of good teams close. And aside from Purdue (obviously they are a huge mismatch for us due to size) I never really felt like we got completely overwhelmed by any Big Ten opponent. This leads me to believe that we are close. Yes we lose Shields but I think the development of the freshmen and the addition of Gill, Horne, and Roby will more than offset that. We are still in desperate need of a big man but I'm sure we land one whether it be a freshmen, JUCO, or grad transfer. Long story short, cheer up we were better next year and even better the next.

Maryland is really struggling right now tho. So we have that going for us if we can make it that far.

I have no inside info, but i think at least 1 player transfers which will open up another spot. This day and age it is almost a given atleast one player will transfer. But it still won't really fix anything bc to have a complete roster I would say 5 gaurds, 3 wings, and 5 PF/C are needed. So say Bakari transfers, well we are already a gaurd short and now we are losing another so the new recruit would take Bakaris spot and we would still be a gaurd short. Same with Hammond in the post position. Nick Fuller would be the most beneficial transfer option but imo he is also the least likely to do so. We have to many wing type players with White, Roby, and McVeigh so Fuller will prob see even less time unless he improves his game or injuries occur.

Have the freshman hit the wall.....???

Agreed. I, along with many others, keep forgetting about the extra practices and trips. -

That is true but they aren't used to playing against this type of talent. Now every single player on the court is a D1 talent compared to a handful in high school or AAU ball. And in the Big Ten it only intensifies as they play against some of the best teams and players in the country night in and night out. -
Overall we will be more talented across and deeper imo.
-
Next year will be better. Currently we are still a Center short and shooting gaurd. I think the center spot will get addressed bc I think we land Jordy. The shooting guard can't get addressed bc of scholarship limits. But the biggest need is obviously a big man with good size that can make an impact right away.

I expressed this opinion after the Penn state game. Everyone except for Shavon just seemed out of it. Felt the same against Purdue. And again today. It's understandable though. These freshmen and White (since he didn't play much at Kansas) were more than likely not prepared mentally and physically for the grind of Big Ten basketball. -
The most important thing is for us to win on Sunday. At 15-16 we would have to win two conference tourney games to finish .500 and get to post season play. Depending on the match ups we could definitely win two games. I'm somewhat worried that some of the team has given up or hit their wall. But I know Shavon won't quit and hopefully how he has been playing will inspire the rest of the team.
-
I would almost prefer playing the first day If it meant drawing OSU the second round if it meant avoiding Purdue early on in the tournament.
-
The context is that the team has only had 30 points in two straight games while Shavon has had 25 and 32. Need a total team effort to get it done. Not all players have to play out of their minds, but they collectively need to play better as a whole. Agreed.

Next year we will be a better team. I'm just looking at the current 9 man rotation versus what I presume it to be next year and we will be more talented across the board. There will still be some shortcomings on the roster as currently we are a center and a SG short imo. But i am excited for the future. In regards to this season, I will remember it as a young team that left some wins on the table. And I can't help but think that if Shields doesn't get hurt we have a couple more wins right now. But here's to hoping this team can pull out a couple more wins this year and end on a positive note. -
I don't think Northwestern is that good of a team where the whole team has to be on their A game. Now they are good enough where Shields will not be able to beat them single handedly.

I don't mind if Hammond stays. He's still a work in project but I think if he stayed it would pay off by his senior year for us. Fuller will be buried on the bench behind White, McVeigh, and Roby more than likely but he won't transfer bc he has already used a redshirt so unless he transferred to D2 he would lose a year of eligibility.I think Hammond and Bakari are the two most likely players to transfer this off season. However that's just my opinion and I have no evidence to support it. -

Because he air balled one... I am actually ok with Benny shooting this year. It has really improved. He definitely is much improved but he still isn't that good of a shooter given the fact that many teams have shadowed off of him. His shooting percentages are poor for the amount of open/good looks he gets alot of the times. Anyways I will miss Benny. I love the fact that he stayed even when playing time was in question and decided to work his tail off so Miles would have no choice but to play him. Great kid, will be missed. -

I know it's senior night and we shouldn't say anything bad about the seniors. But Benny is a terrible shooter and I cannot wait for someone else to get his shots next year. -

They have came out so flat offensively the past three games. -
Can someone figure this out for everyone?

I saw what the bracket would look like if the tourney started today. We were matched up with Rutgers and if we won we would play Ohio State. If we moved up a seed and got out of the playin round we would be paired up against Purdue. Idk about you guys but I would prefer Rutgers/Ohio State over Purdue. -
I was really hoping for a winning season. In order for that to happen we have to win the next two. Or split and make a run in the big ten tourney. Either way this was never gonna be a "special" year. Just hoping we can send Shavon and Benny out the right way.

Miles said yesterday that if he does play there will be no restrictions on his minutes. But that's obviously assuming no symptoms reappear. It will be interesting to see if the extra time off helps or hurts him tonight. He could either feel really fresh or could be a step slow.
