  1. What's our word for this? What do we call this? Cryptic? Is that it?
  2. I chose Shavon because of his versatility. I think he could defend multiple positions and he was extremely effective at attacking the rim on offense.
  3. OK, well, I haven't paid that much attention to it. I'm not a Creighton fan, so I don't really care.
  4. No proof? You mean other than sworn testimony at trial by the recruit's dad that he received an offer from Creighton's assistant coach?
  5. On the bright side, we wouldn't have to wait until after the bowl game for him to join the hoops program. ? OK, admittedly, that might not be much of a bright side. Guess it depends on whether you're sitting in Memorial Stadium or PBA.
  6. Unless he's grown up in the year he sat out, I'd rather we had Jacobsen. I think we could have afforded to lose two of the three big men who transferred away, but not all three. We needed one of the group. Just for depth if nothing else. And, in terms of all-around attributes, I'd go with Jacobsen over the other two.
  7. The football roster on Huskers.com lists him at 6'8" and 245#. If nothing else, he can dunk. And if we get in foul trouble and need a big body with 5 fouls to give, he has one.
  8. Very small margin for error on the injury front. However, I think even with Dedoch, we had a very small margin for error. One Dedoch more or less isn't going to change that, unfortunately.
  9. This post didn't age well. That's a lineup you're never gonna see.
  10. We'll see how well ISU unlocks Jacobson or Marquette unlocks Morrow.
  11. Well, now we can talk about having an open spot without eating one of our own. So, life is good. ?
  12. Well, now we can specifically call him out as a player not likely to be around next year without having to worry about bagging on a current student-athlete. So, there is that.
  13. My biggest concern about player development has been among the bigs. Our bigs haven't learned to post up for sh!t and don't seem to be able to defend the post. And Northwestern gets Dererk Pardon to play like an All-American against us in one of his first games as a college player. But part of that could be system and part of that could be the players themselves. Because, for instance, Brandon Ubel went from mediocre to massive in one year under Miles: SEASON TEAM MIN FGM-FGA FG% 3PM-3PA 3P% FTM-FTA FT% REB AST BLK STL PF TO PTS 2012-13 NEB 33.0 4.2-8.7 .480 0.2-0.9 .207 3.0-3.7 .802 6.7 1.6 0.8 0.6 3.2 2.0 11.5 2011-12 NEB 28.2 2.5-4.8 .517 0.2-0.7 .250 1.6-1.9 .825 5.3 1.3 0.3 0.4 2.5 1.0 6.7 2010-11 NEB 20.1 2.0-3.8 .516 0.2-0.9 .250 1.9-2.4 .792 3.7 0.6 0.3 0.3 2.3 1.0 6.1 2009-10 NEB 15.8 1.4-3.5 .411 0.3-0.7 .524 1.2-1.5 .796 2.0 0.1 0.2 0.2 1.6 1.3 4.4
  14. I was impressed with Amir's defense during the scrimmage. His length advantage is clear. There was one time in particular he was guarding Palmer, cut him off at the baseline, Palmer elevates and makes the shot (that's Palmer for you) but Amir made him work for it and got a hand up nearly high enough to block the shot but definitely high enough to make Palmer stretch. Amir's defense is good enough to see the floor plenty. His ball handling is good enough. Seems to try to finesse things at the rim instead of going up strong. He needs to just start over on his shooting stroke, though. And he's young enough that he has plenty of time to do it. Just start over. Build it from the ground up. I do NOT want to see him come back next fall with essentially the same mechanics he has right now.
  15. Do you know of any coaches who only ever coached in the NBA until taking a college job and had success there? Just asking 'cause I don't know.
  16. I don't think Title IX is "obviously" a good idea. I think it is arguably a good idea, but I think it's arguably also been bad in some ways. Without getting too far off in the weeds, I think there were some unintended (negative) consequences. And the older Title IX has gotten, the more the DOJ tries to expand its reach. Title IX means the Princeton basketball player, whose occasional hook-up partner claims the last time they had sex wasn't consensual even though she seemed a willing participant, gets kicked out of school and doesn't get any sort of due process in the adjudication of his student misconduct claim because the Feds are threatening to pull funding from schools because they don't think universities are doing enough to combat this "rape culture" that people say exists on campus, and that now falls under Title IX. Anyway, I don't want to get off into the weeds about Title IX; however, I do want it noted that it's not "obvious" and not everyone agrees. And the people who disagree generally keep quiet about it because it's not a popular opinion to have.
  17. You might be right, but I don't see how. I thought he looked turrible. Two-of-nine for 29 yards and a pick is Bouserman bad.
  18. Probably also has pizzas.
  19. And the finger guns punt came on 4th and goal from the 39. ?
  20. I need a pair of red sox, Jimmy. Been looking for ones with like black 'N's on them.
  21. He's 5'4". Not a typo. https://thebiglead.com/2018/10/27/video-bethune-cookman-punter/
  22. True. Very true.
  23. My problem with paying athletes is that not all athletes and not all sports are created equal. The guys who are paying the bills is a relatively small group of people in an athletic department. Should the guys on the golf team -- which generates no revenue at all -- get a cut of the athletic department profits off of football? Few would probably make that argument. Should the back-up long-snapper get as much of a share of football profits as the starting QB? But those are not the places where "profit sharing" is going to cause issues. The places where "profit sharing" would cause issues is where Title IX comes into play.
  24. In the immortal words of Johnny Miller, "Fat guys are clutch."
