  1. By the way, it should be "fewer than 40 points," not "less than 40 points."
  2. Nineteen-hundred and forty-nine. Back then, they wore ball-gripping short shorts and canvass hightops. And was Bus Whitehead on the team back then? There was no 3-point line. There was no shot clock. There were a lot of slow guys who couldn't jump, who shot granny-shot free throws. They had jump balls after every score and a high school game in this state might end 2-0. Or 4-2. Back in the days when a high-scoring basketball team might put up 60, we held consecutive opponents to fewer than 40. In 1949. And we just did it again nearly 70 years later. Amazing.
  3. I was also going to mention Cliffy. He was actually a 2 who was forced to play point because we didn't really have anyone else who could do it. He had to learn the position and learn to be a distributor and he did it really well.
  4. Or to get Giada de Laurentiis to lick your frosting.
  5. He also said they have 5 commits for the next 2 recruiting classes and they just need to add another Copeland and another Roby and they'll be set.
  6. You forgot Jamar Johnson.
  7. I know he might not get back to where he was, but I truly hope he’s able to get back to where he might have otherwise been. He has some skills and it’d be nice to see what he could do.
  8. Well, he survived it. That's about as much as anyone can probably say at this moment. He's moved from a cast to a walking boot. So, there's that. This is a kid who, if you watch his film, you so hope he's able to recover from his various injuries, and achieve his athletic potential because he looks like a kid with some skills that could really help a team out. Especially a team like ours next year that will have to replace a bunch of pieces.
  9. Look at his November. That includes a road game at Ohio State. His numbers just keep improving. If he does that against MSU and Iowa, we could very well be bowling. And I'm not kidding about that. If we manage to get past MSU, there will be a lot on the line when we travel to Iowa City at the end of this month.

  11. Virtually insuring Laviska Shenault will turn pro.
  12. Every time I see that knee brace on A-Mart's leg, I think about retribution in Boulder next year. Be a shame if one of our 330# OLs rolled into their LBs' knees next year.
  13. I have it on good authority that Glynn Watson can't stand Coach Miles and he's going to transfer at the end of his freshman sophomore junior senior year of college. He's as good as gone at the end of this season. He will NOT be back on the team next year. Take it to the bank. I have good sources.
  14. Met. This is what you hoped having a top 100, 4-star player would look like.
  15. Amir needs minutes badly.
  16. He shot one yesterday. Dribbled just inside the arc and drained a 19 footer.
  17. Yeah. The one 7-footer they have who's eligible (the other is a transfer redshirt) got 7 minutes of PT in a 40-point blowout and recorded 1 point, 1 block, 3 rebounds and a turnover.
  18. Let's just hope this year's version of us doesn't turn out like last year's version of St. John's.
  19. I didn't say transfer him here. After looking at the guy, he's a fantastic shooter. Wasn't hitting last night, of course, but he can elevate on a dime and get shots off quickly. And he's accurate. So you have to stay in his face. But he's slow. And his ball skills are minus minus. So, while he doesn't need much separation to get a shot off, he's not going to create much separation on his own, either. And being slow also means he won't pass muster on the defensive side of the ball so would never see the floor here even if he could shoot lights out all the time. There's a reason he's at the school he's at and didn't get recruited to a higher level situation. There's a reason that, in spite of going off for 25 points against LSU, he still isn't starting for his current squad, and only got 14 minutes against us. (By the way, Glynn is a senior and Nana a sophomore. If Parker were to transfer, Glynn would be 2 years gone by the time Parker would be eligible to play, and Nana would be a senior.)
  20. They might be the 2017-18 version of us. Working in a bunch of new parts. They aren't going to be hitting on all cylinders this early in the season because they're still going to be trying to figure out who's going to be taking which shots where on the floor. The vast majority of their team hasn't played with each other before. They'll still be a work in progress on Wednesday night and this will be their 2nd game of the season and first one on the road. That's not a good recipe for success. Both teams' fans seem to think their defense will be the difference. Hey, our defense is pretty darn good, too. And we can score from a lot of different spots. So ...
  21. In their first game against Wagner (that's Vah-gner to you and me), they had 2 guys in double figure scoring. A 6'8", 205 senior forward who scored 11 points on 5 of 6 shooting from 2-point range and grabbed 7 boards, And Powell, the 6'2" junior, who scored 30 points on 5 of 7 shooting from 3-point range and 10 of 13 shooting overall. Given what they lost from last year's team, this is an inexperienced bunch and they don't seem to get their scoring from many different spots. Granted, they beat Vah-gner by 40, but that's with Powell playing 24 minutes and accounting for half of SHU's 3-point attempts and 1/3 of their overall FG attempts. They for sure haven't seen a team with our length on D. Powell might be very good, but one guy isn't going to beat us. The other guys better show more than they did against Vah-gner or it could be a rout.
  22. About 1/3 of the ppl on their board have voted a road game against us will be tougher than a neutral game (MSG) against Kentucky. That's some high praise, there.
  23. A good year for us this year (a little run in the NCAA -- little run = 2 wins) and it might put us in position to get a commit from a kid like this. Without having to promise his dad $100,000 and a good job.
  24. This might be the only time in program history this will ever happen, so we should enjoy it. Even if it is just Sagarin.
