KenPom 2018-2019 KenPom Rankings Thread
Norm Peterson replied to 49r's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Is my math right? We have 20 games on our schedule this season against teams currently in the top 50 on Kenpom? Someone want to do the math for me and check my numbers? That's just a huge number of tough opponents in a single season. -

Whole lot more fun updating this thread after a win, huh? ? -
ESPN is wrong. I watched Roby hit a trey against Seton Hall when he came back into the game late after picking up his 4th foul. Kind of a statement trey after he'd been held out much of the game due to foul trouble. He also hit one against Western Illinois. I think he hit both from about the same spot on the floor.

2019 SF Yavuz Gultekin -> Texas A&M

So, this is how conversations often go with me. You start out talking about future career choices for your kids and someone brings up how much they just paid their plumber to hook up a washer/dryer and maybe that's something a kid could look into doing. Next person mentions how they need to find a plumber to fix a couple leaky faucets and do you know anyone good? Pretty soon, you're talking about clogged toilets and someone brings up those PooPourri commercials on YouTube. YavMacPoouz McGultekinclungpourri. Who brought up Georgetown to begin with? I think that's where we went off the tracks. -

Did that look like a foul on Copeland on TV? I swear, every game, the refs are neutralizing one of our best players in the first half. -

Glynn Watson started his career off 1-9 from 3. -
I didn't see a new uneblinstu thread for this last game, so I'm starting one. If there was one and I just missed it, someone please combine and tack this to the end. Anyway, I tend to avoid the board after disappointing losses. There tends to be a lot of kvetching and fatalism that I prefer to avoid. But I wanted to offer a different perspective than what I've been seeing from other posters. I think Texas Tech was the better team last night, but not 18 points better. They padded their stats toward the end of the game when we just couldn't get anything going and they just started rolling. Some nights, you just get those banked 3 pointers to drop; other nights, shots that look like they're going down pop out instead. They had one of those nights last night; we had one of those other nights. Last night, though, the game turned when James Palmer picked up his 2nd foul on an absolute bullshit charge call with 12:13 left to play in the first half and us with a decent 15-8 lead. From that moment, Palmer goes out of the game and Tech goes on a 10-0 run, takes the lead, and basically never looks back. From that point forward, JPJ was effectively hamstrung on the offensive end. The refs took him completely out of his game. And it affected our whole offense, our whole game plan. Say whatever else you want to say, but the officials decided the outcome of the game when they whistled Palmer for that soft charge 8 minutes into the game. It was not the same game from there on out.

Selection Committee Games of Interest, 2018-2019

Iowa State has a VERY shallow bench and one of their best players just picked up his 4th foul with about 17 1/2 minutes to play. ? -

Illinois up 5 on Iowa State at half. Only 2 of Illinois' starters have scored. The bench, however … Illinois leads it 39-34. Go Fighting whatever Illinois' mascot is!!! -
That's insulting. OUR conference network showing basically the offensive highlights of an opponent we SPANKED. The Bears made 11 FGs in the 1st half and BTN showed 6 them. Including one they replayed 3 times. Do you think they'd do that to Michigan or Wisconsin or Ohio State? What are we? Chopped liver?

The Bears "stormed" back? That's just dumb. That's "analysis" by a guy who either just plain didn't watch the game or watched it with blue-tinted glasses. We went up 6-0 to start the game and the Bears strung 7 points together to take a 7-6 lead. Seven points in a row. That was the longest scoring streak they went on the whole game. Here's the amount of our lead the whole game: 1st Half: 3, 6, 4, 1, -1, 1, -1, -2, 1, 3, 5, 3, 5, 7, 5, 8, 10, 12, 11, 9, 8, 10, 7, 8, 6, 3, 6, 7, 10, 7 half time 2n Half: 7, 8, 9, 6, 8, 5, 8, 6, 8, 11, 13, 11, 13, 11, 9, 11, 13, 11, 10, 12, 10, 9, 12, 15, 13, 12, 11, 12, 13, 16, 17, 18, 15, 17, 19, 22, 20, 23, 24, 26, 24, 25, 23, end The only time you could really claim they came "storming" back would MAYBE be the point where they cut our 12 point lead down to 3 late in the first half. In the second half, we just continued to gradually pull away.

Tech it is, winners over USC by 15. They were down at half by 9 and came storming back in the 2nd half. This is who I wanted us to play. Not overwhelming length, which has given us troubles in the past. This should be a good match-up for us. Really good test to see how good we are on a neutral floor against a likely tournament team.
