@hhcmatt and @uneblinstu I was being a little tongue-in-cheek there, finding something to complain about that, as uneblinstu said, was basically good news. However, there is a minor point to what I said. I think uneblinstu said a player invited to the combine no longer has to worry about pulling out of the draft by May 29. He can come back if he's not drafted. Which is excellent for him. Draft is late June after the NBA Finals. I think we get to start practicing, or at least team workouts start, for our overseas trip at the end of June as well. And from a purely selfish perspective, I want to know what our roster is going to look like NOW! I don't wanna wait. It's like it's 6:00 p.m. on December 24th and I'm going to bed NOW in hopes that it gets Santa here a little faster.

Well, except that it drags recruiting and completing the roster out until it's time to leave for Italy or wherever. But, yeah, that's a relatively small problem.

Mack makes good passes. He also flies by people on the dribble. His acceleration and change of direction are something to behold. That was also something that was impressive about Burke when I watched him during the open scrimmage last year. He had an extra gear and could blow by people to get to the rim. Mack's acceleration is elite. The reason he's able to make some of those passes is that he draws a lot of attention with the ball in his hands. He gets by the first defender and forces help and then somehow threads a needle to an open teammate for a layup or a trey. Burke and Mack are both really, really fast.

Looking at him standing next to Hoiberg, I'm inclined to believe he's closer to 6-6 than 6-8. And if he's 240#, then 20 of that 240 is biggie-sized fries and a shake. But I'll take it. His highlight video, you can't fake. The kid has tools.

If Kevin makes the right choice and comes to Nebraska, the strength and conditioning program will transform his physique and turn him into a physical specimen.

I'm getting antsy not knowing what the other guys (besides Cam) who visited this weekend are going to do. Maybe we can get this next-year's-starters thread rolling, even though (and I may have said this somewhere else) I think it's so wide open and unpredictable given that we have so many new guys coming in who put up really good numbers wherever they were before. Buncha quality players and perhaps not enough room in the starting lineup to fit them all. Anyway, I think Cam Mack is definitely going to start at PG. Unless it's someone else. And the 2-guard is probably going to be Jervay. Or, y'know, Dachon. But it could be Haanif. The uncertainty is NOT a bad problem to have when it's because you have options of guys who've delivered wherever they were before.

And here he is standing next to Kevin Cross:

Visits the weekend of 4/27-28
Norm Peterson replied to Husker Hoops Penitent's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Reminder, it was Cam Mack (committed), Jayce Johnson, Dalano Blanton, Kevin Cross, and (supposed to be) Yvan Ouedraogo. Ouedraogo's flight was apparently delayed and he didn't get in until today. Washut has a twitter tease suggesting the weekend for the 4 guys who were here as scheduled couldn't have gone any better. However, no official word and it's behind a paywall, so ... -
2019 PF Yvan Ouedraogo - LOI

Nailed it. -
It would have been sometime prior to 1962 if it ever happened.
-
What about Haanif Cheatham?
-
I think you nailed it.

This is awesome news. I want a couple of the bigs that came yesterday too, though. Because I'm greedy. ?

Nicely done.

Be interesting to see how the guesses compare to what actually ends up happening.

A month or so ago, I would have thought it was a foregone conclusion we lose to Creighton in Omaha next season. Now, I'm not so sure. If we get Mack this weekend, Jayce Johnson, and one of the HS PFs, I think we're in business. Doesn't mean we win, but not a foregone conclusion that we don't.

OK, but how many minutes each? And scoring?

Keeping up with the offers/visits
Norm Peterson replied to Norm Peterson's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
I saw on Twitter today somebody said they talked to Davis and he said he would be ready for one on one drills starting sometime in July. That’s a long way off to assess your physical recovery to know whether you will be able to contribute or not. By then, recruiting will be pretty well wrapped up. So I would assume his spot is fairly safe. Otherwise, I would think he would’ve already put his name into the transfer portal. -
2019 C Grad Transfer Jayce Johnson -> Marquette

That’s kind of the way I understand it too. -

So, visitors this weekend would be Mack, Johnson, Blanton, Cross and Ouedraogo. Can we take all five? We've got ... Burke Green Cheatham Harris Davis Thor Arop Kavas Heiman And possibly but probably not Roby. They wanted 3 senior transfers; adding Johnson would get us to that number. They wanted 3 sit-out transfers. Blanton would be the only one of those so far. We could redshirt a guy like Heiman and that would give us the functional equivalent of a sit-out transfer. We'd need to clear some roster space to take all 5, whether Roby returns or not. Given the amount of recruiting activity still happening, one would have to suspect they're planning on making room for some further additions. Just me speculating out loud. -
2019 C Grad Transfer Jayce Johnson -> Marquette
Norm Peterson replied to hhcmatt's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
He reached double figures in rebounds in 9 of the last 12 games of the season. He reached double figures in points only 3 times in that stretch. His FT shooting numbers aren't good, about 40%. -

Honestly, I looked up his stats once because there was an article that talked about how he really came on at the end of the season. But I can't remember what the stats looked like. I'll go back and dig some.
