  1. I think Northern Illinois just scored again. As did Christian Standhardinger.
  2. Agree with @khoock. I think beyond another 2 or 3 spots, our options for 2020 are going to be a lot better than available targets for 2019. I think we'll have at least 5 open spots to offer and I can't imagine we'll take more than 2 or possibly 3 unless they're grad transfers with a year of eligibility. I'm thinking they'll want to play with at least 4 total 2020 spots.
  3. I missed the word "official." That would cost me on the ACT.
  4. That's probably a good option for him. He'll need a chance to prove himself somewhere and no one will have seen him play for a year or two. So, going to a juco will give him a chance to audition for college coaches out there and, who knows, by this time next season, he might be a hot commodity on the recruiting trail.
  5. Yep. That's been the discussion. Both gone. Apparently.
  6. Hey, I'm just repeating what Thor said. I take no position on it otherwise, except that I really do think Thor is a good kid and I wish him well regardless.
  7. He's not effing leaving.
  8. OK, so assuming Roby is gone (which I think at this point is a very safe assumption) that would leave us with 5 spots to fill. If we want to fill them all, which we probably don't at this point. But we have 2 guys who will be immediately-eligible seniors. We have 2 committed 2020 recruits. Whatever kind of big guy Hoiberg wants or needs, I sure wouldn't mind it if it was another grad transfer. Let's get our own Tariq Owens who can swat some shots and spread the floor a little bit.
  9. Key is you gotta have 4-5 guys who can really stroke it. We'll have one, for sure, who is exceptional. One who is at least solid. We'll have a few who have proven themselves adequate to good. It'd be nice to have at least 3 guys hovering somewhere near 40% or better.
  10. I had wondered the same thing, my man. Seems like a smart strategy. Even if you miss out on them out of HS, you've got relationships established for when they decided to transfer a year or two from now.
  11. Saw this coming a mile away. Illinois fans have to be deflated.
  12. I'd like to know how big and tall he actually is. If he's truly 6-8 and 240#, then some of the things he did in the highlight video were pretty impressive. If he's just a big guard at 6-6, then less so. Fact he keeps taking visits tells me we're either out of the running or we didn't make a committable offer. Edited to add: Plus, I thought we were getting Jayce Johnson.
  13. Are they sure it wasn't a 1 1/4 mile-wide tornado that stayed on the ground for 5 miles?
  14. He has a great twitter handle.
  15. Just became a higher priority.
  16. I believe it's this weekend.
  17. Damn. So many people were so confident he was going to commit to us that I just assumed. Jinx thread for sure. I'll have to redo this poll once we get a class finalized. People might want to change their votes.
  18. If we finish the recruiting class with Jayce Johnson, Shamiel Stevenson, and either Yvan Ouedraogo or Kevin Cross, how would you grade the recruiting efforts of the new staff in their first recruiting period?
  19. As commits continue, I'm cooling on Cross.
  20. Shaping up to maybe be one of those years.
  21. NWS says it was an EF-2 tornado that touched down in west Lincoln on Sunday afternoon/evening. It demolished the ice cream store but took one look at Lee's Chicken across the street and thought, damn, that's a heart-attack waiting to happen, and took a sharp turn south.
  22. Just look for the guy with a shopping cart full of big cuts of meat.
  23. If I had to guess, Thor's situation is slightly different from Amir's and Karrington's. Karrington is a freshman. If he stayed, he'd hold that spot 4 seasons. Harris would hold his 3. Thor only has 2 more years of eligibility. That might or might not be the difference that mattered to Hoiberg.
  24. He's a guy who had D1 offers and chose to walk on here instead.
