  1. So Dain Dainja and Xavier Watts are cousins? No freakin way.
  2. Well, underclassmen on the team also take spots away from 2020 recruits and there's limits the Big Ten places on how many players you can oversign by. I think it's just as plausible we're clearing space to make room for 2020 kids who have yet to commit. We're in on a lot of them. If we sign 2 bigs from the group that has visited, we only have room for like 2 more 2020 recruits even if Roby doesn't come back. We're not cranking out all these offers with the expectation of just taking 2 more guys.
  3. 35 40 51 59 84 93 101 120 130 134 My guess is someone's going to re-open his recruitment and it isn't going to be Donovan Williams.
  4. Frickin copycats. Just because we have Hoiberg now, they think they have to do everything we do. Like the ex-girlfriend who magically finds herself everywhere you are. "Please come back, Fred. We can change. We promise."
  5. When you're going to make an omelette, sometimes you have to crack a few eggs.
  6. So, Dalano is pronounced PO-lice in Western Kentucky. Who knew?
  7. Wow. Hoiberg could take that clay and mold it into an NBA player, right there.
  8. I have never seen Nebraska involved with so many players in the Rivals top 150, let alone so many players in the Rivals top 50. This is crazy. Definite Minnesota flavor to it as well.

  10. I'm the Mayor of River City bragging up our marching band when we don't have the instruments yet.
  11. Not as much of a mystery as I had anticipated, then. Wait. Akol, Jervay, Cam, Cheatham, the Polish guy, and Dachon Burke. That's six. And then we have walk-ons. And Karrington Davis.
  12. He's Amir Harris. But a better passer, better shooter, longer and just as athletic.
  13. I'm not part of the problem. I might be part of the problem IF I was one of the people who were paying Rivals to have advanced notice of breaking news -- their "premium content" as it were. They put stuff behind a pay wall and their business model requires them to have stuff there that isn't known to the general public yet. So they have to get scoops and run them from time to time or people won't subscribe. But I don't pay for that access. I'm happy to find out about it by reading rank speculation on Twitter from people who might not actually know anything. So, that makes me part of a different problem.
  14. Yeah. That's a problem. But you want access? You were the one who reported? You better be the one to say you're sorry. Even if you didn't do anything wrong. The only way it really matters is if the kids didn't know yet, which I think @hhcmatt mentioned above.
  15. Somebody tells me that Robin posted over on RSS that he reported some names but "no one had officially been told anything yet." So, if the players find out from reading about themselves on Rivals, that's a big bad deal. Sean Callahan apparently also said they got a little ahead of themselves and deleted something. Pooch screwed. They won't get anything from that source ever again.
  16. They aren't P5. And that used to mean we assumed the kid must not be a worthy recruit unless we were competing against other P5 teams for his services.
  17. Then he shouldn't have put it out there.
  18. Can't remember where I saw it but it was Matt Abdelmassih, I believe at his initial press conference. It's the same place where he said they want more than one guy sitting out as a transfer every year so that they have company and aren't sitting out of games by themselves.
  19. I'm going to assume Robin didn't say this without some basis for it. If it's true, it's really no surprise, although they should mention Dachon Burke as a guy who would be returning. But … 1. These players don't fit the mold of what Hoiberg would want, skill-wise; and 2. We were told they wanted 3 grad transfers, 3 sit-out transfers and a high schooler or two, and that means 3. We didn't have enough room if everyone stayed.
  20. I'm going to suggest some manscaping options for him. How about Acacia Linn Aesthetics? Never been, but they have good google reviews.
  21. We made his top 3. Before we got involved, I think he was considering 3 high majors. Granted, he's not being pursued by Kentucky or Kansas. But the other programs are both P5 programs. It's not like his only other offer is Presbyterian College or Texas Southern. Even if he redshirts to develop and acclimate to the American game (he's only just turned 17), I think there's a lot to like about him. And I'd rather have him redshirting than developing in a Prep School environment. I think it's a good offer; I'd be happy to have him.
  22. For whatever reason, under past administrations, we might have offered some of the top players in the country, but it was never noted that we were involved with them, probably because they didn't really have any real interest in us. This has a different feel to it. These kids are tweeting that they're thankful to have received an offer from us, which, I get it, that's pretty standard. But why such a large volume of top kids? No kid being recruited today for the football program was alive when we last won a national title. None of them have a memory of when we last competed for a conference championship. But we hired a coach in Scott Frost who brings name recognition with him when he goes on visits. And we play in a top conference. No kid being recruited today for the basketball program has any recognition of us losing 7 NCAA tournament first round games in as many appearances. We play in a conference with some name recognition. And we just brought in a basketball coach who has a reputation that preceeds him. You could hire a great mid-major coach with great Xs and Os ability and ability to relate to kids etc. and recruits would still have to take a leap of faith to think that they could come to Nebraska and the program would be a winner. But they don't have to do that with Hoiberg. And that's the case for the first time in program history, really. We brought in a guy who already did it. Relatively recently. And coached in the pros. I have to think that makes a difference in getting our foot in the door. After that, we have to beat out the competition with better relationships and showing them the things they want in a program. But before, we didn't even get our foot in the door. Now, we're one step closer with these high 4 star kids. We've got a foot in the door. And once we have that foot in the door and get them on campus for a visit, I think we have as good a shot as anyone else in the same room.
