  1. If he’s in Chicago working out, it stands to reason he’s not going to class. Torvik says that’s how he’d figure who’s going pro or coming back. I don’t think that’s a reflection on anyone’s character.
  2. Who has questioned his character?
  3. I believe they went to KC to watch the 5-star center from Iowa play.
  4. If anyone sees something I'm missing, please let me know.
  5. ODU could just about fill a roster with Nebraska talent and be able to compete in Conference USA. Not necessarily *win* in that conference, but compete.
  6. Very good. Season Averages season Team 2018-19 SJU GP GS MPG FG FG% 3PT 3P% FT FT% OR DR REB AST BLK STL PF TO PTS 34 32 32.0 5.9-11.4 51.3 1.5-3.9 38.3 1.2-2.0 62.7 1.5 4.8 6.4 1.7 0.2 1.8 2.5 1.3 14.4
  7. I was just tying together what Torvik said about predicting who's leaving and what others were saying about Isaiah's whereabouts. I don't have any special knowledge besides that.
  8. He could step into the Haanif Cheatham slot.
  9. He was speaking generally; others have been saying Isaiah is in Chicago right now working out with somebody, which would make going to class a little problematic.
  10. Will Roby be back? Bart Torvik doesn't seem to think so.
  11. Oh, that's how. I looked through page 1 of the recruiting threads. It never dawned on me it would have dropped out of sight to page 2. I thought there probably had to be a thread, but I figured maybe we all just posted about it in the 2019 thread or something. Thanks for combining.
  12. Another interesting thing that stands out to me in this video. Starting at about the 1:45 point, you see his team entering the ball into the post. He draws a lot of attention when they dump the ball to him in the post. I saw double teams, triple teams, even 4 guys trying to collapse on him. And he was still able to score against them or, alternatively, was able to find guys to pass to on the perimeter for open treys. He's reasonably good passing out of the post. He's reasonably good scoring inside against defense. Good enough and strong enough inside that he's able to draw double (and sometimes triple) teams. Not bad.
  13. What I meant by this is that, once he gets an offensive rebound, he's able to go back up with it by either going to his left or to his right. He appears very adept, in fact, at going to his left. But he's also strong going to his right. Very intriguing player.
  14. Mid-range is in there. Look again.
  15. Thor doesn't have the frame, the wingspan or the ups. This kid gets in position and launches. And then can go either left or right.
  16. Someone just retweeted someone else's tweet of a video of them dunking. These two guys are talking.
  17. Deserves his own thread. Visiting this weekend. #2 Juco recruit in the country, one spot ahead of Jervay Green. If there's already a thread on this kid, my bad, didn't see it.
  18. Mack, Johnson and Ivan Drago visiting this weekend. I'd take all three. If we got all three, you'd have to start thinking we'd have a chance to field a pretty complete roster for next year and not necessarily feel like it's the inevitable throw-away, transition year. With Mack, we'd have a hell of a backcourt. Johnson and another front court player, and we'd at least have some pieces to work with.
  19. For some reason, I really like the French kid. He's aggressive and plays with some attitude. That really matters, especially for your big men inside. And, while he could use some polish, he's not devoid of skill either. He showed some really nice things in that highlight video I posted. He's very young and is probably still growing. He could wind up 6'8" and his frame suggests he could hold some weight. He might or might not need a redshirt year. Be interesting to see if he can develop a jumper. We've offered, so the coaching staff must have seen enough to believe he can help us out long term.
  20. I just remember coaches preaching about getting high percentage shots. That was before the 3-point line, so that obviously didn't involve factoring in 50% greater value of the made 3 pointer. Usually, it meant finding guys cutting to the basket or setting ball screens to allow guys to drive. Teams that don't shoot a ton of 3s, like UNC in 2017, can only succeed because they have guys who can reliably score in the paint. Because you're not winning a national title by relying on long 2s, that's for sure. If you don't have players who can get into the paint and get buckets on shots that will be contested, then you better have guys who can bury the 3. And if you don't have guys who can bury the 3, then you better have guys who can score inside. To me, whichever style you prefer, you need players who can execute that style. Guys who can hit a sufficient percentage of whatever kind of shots your offense generates that you can score points hopefully more efficiently than the other team. Just because it takes skill to hit the threes doesn't mean it doesn't take skill to hit the twos. I agree that 40% from three is a big ask, but Virginia had 3 starters who were able to do it and they won a national title. And experience suggests to me we're more likely to be able to assemble a backcourt of efficient perimeter shooters than to find that big man who's unstoppable in the paint.
  21. I agree. And I think it shows in terms of the players we were getting commits from.
  22. I think it happened before that, even. 2015 recruiting class: 2 Rivals 4-stars plus transfer Andrew White (plus some guy named Mike something and a Bakari.) 2016 recruiting class: 3 Rivals 150 players sign in November of '15, plus James Palmer commits in the spring of '16. And then Miles is not extended. And THEN ... 2017 recruiting class: Nana in November. And then Thor commits like in January, as well as Isaac Copeland after we beat Iowa in January at home. And NC State fires their coach in March and we fortuitously land Thomas Allen on the rebound that spring. And Miles gets 1-year extension. (Rumor was that Eichorst wanted to fire Miles but couldn't get it past Hank Bounds.) 2018 recruiting class: Brady Heiman from Springfield, NE, and Xavier Johnson in November. Then Karrington Davis comes along in March. Kenya leaves and so does Xavier. And we sign Amir Harris in May and Dachon Burke transfers here in the spring. And Miles gets 1-year extension. After we went on a tear, set a school record for conference wins, and nearly reach the NCAA tourney. And there's perhaps a little bump in recruiting. 2019 recruiting class: Three unranked Rivals 3-stars with no other P5 (P6) offers, one of whom is from Omaha with prior connections to the staff and the school. And Dedoch Chan arrives mid-summer (remember Decoch?) and leaves late fall after being here a couple of Burnos. 2020 recruiting class Miles commits: A local Lincoln kid who becomes a Rivals 4-star after he commits; and an unranked 3-star from Indiana with no other P5(P6) offers. And then a spate of injuries and the wheels fall of the '18-'19 regular season, and, in spite of a valiant post-season run, Miles is fired.
  23. The St. John's offer was June of last year. This probably represents a Matt Abdelmassih connection. He's had unofficial visits to Auburn and Ga Tech but the only offer shown on 24/7 is the St. John's offer from last June. https://247sports.com/player/nahiem-alleyne-46056536/
  24. So, you're talking about D'Andre, Jervay, Akol and Donovan? Not sure that makes the case you're making. At the time they all committed, we were either ranked or getting votes in the AP poll, for one thing. Donovan, of course, is a local, Lincoln kid. Akol is from Omaha with a previous connection to Miles. When Jervay committed, he was not a top 5 juco recruit like he is now. According to Rivals, other than us, the whole group had a combined total of zero Power 5 offers (or Power 6 if you include the Big East). If you go back a year, Brady had a greyshirt offer from Creighton, but otherwise no P6 offers. Amir was available after Xavier decommitted and had a couple of P6 offers besides us, but part of that was probably due to him being one of the best unsigned recruits available at a time when schools were trying to finish off recruiting classes. The year before that, we signed ONE KID in November -- Nana. We got lucky and Thomas Allen decommitted from NC State due to a coaching change and we picked him up. Otherwise, that would have been a pretty bleak recruiting class. Compare that to the offers Glynn Watson, Ed Morrow and Andrew White III had.
