OT - Sorry, just want to send a note to all affected by
royalfan replied to colhusker's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
With all the weather around the nation are we at high risk of very serious flooding? IE the Missouri river flooding that really wreaked havoc about 8 -10 years ago. Edit. Wasn't aware of the severity around the state. It obviously is very serious already. -
One thing we have going for us is that this is a bit of an adjustment to shoot in this building. 1st halves both easy under bets yesterday. Guessing this Indiana game has decent shot at under 1st half as well. Tighter rims, different backdrop. Hoping our having shot here once and in tomorrow's case twice neutralizes the freshness and then some.

No kidding. The good thing is that Trueblood is not overwhelmed athletically at least. -

Great win. Good gameplan defensively. Figured out a way to rebound well enough, which concerned me. Made some shots. Great job by Trueblood making some huge plays. Knows is role and is performing it well! Roles well defined for sure. Just need Palmer Watson and Roby to score the ball enough. -
So you are saying he changed his recruiting approach to get power and speed guys? He sure has hell has been an unmitigated disaster on this front so far in his tenure. Assuming that changed seems to be a bold statement you are making.

Yes if you think Miles is a good coach, we aren't going to agree. I would take all but Chambers, Pikell, and possibly Pitino. Fran and Gard wouldn't be much of an upgrade. Not sure on Underwood but would take my chances since Miles record is really poor. If Miles were smart enough to hire a great X and O guy it could work. He hasn't proven to be though unfortunately.

You are right, I am wrong. Just like how we shouldn't retain Miles because we won't get anyone good anyway. We are blessed with an embarrassment of power and speed. 256 players have as many or more homers as we do as a team. I would say we could use a different recruiting approach. We are 108th in steals as a team at least. Brfrad assures us we are recruiting great though. We are fine.

Me too!! I went a couple years ago. Nearly did today. Was a battle and will be tomorrow as well.

Yeah it is a bummer. He can bring some intangibles that can lead to tournament wins. This is another massive blow. Not sure why all of this had to happen, but it is maddening. Just happy as hell that everyone involved got a great win yesterday.
-
Well at least that wouldn't jeopardize his future next year.

Get Austin Allen suited up.

Miles is retained what does the team look like

Yikes, hard to defend that resume. -
Really hope it isn't an injury that puts next year in doubt for him.

Hasn't there only been a few coaches that have gone more years in a power league than Miles without winning a tournament game and kept their job? Two of those few being the same guys(hamilton at two different schools where he had them in the dance frequently). Not sure why so many want Miles to have more time. We only made it once(although I truly believe it should be twice and basically judge him as such).

I don't hate Miles at all. He just isn't a very good coach. Unfortunate as he has the personality I want in a coach. Your statement that I think he is the worst coach in America is ludicrous as well. If you want to be a defeatist with a loser mentality that is cool. Not me though. I strive to excel in all I do, and I want the things I support do strive for that as well.

Lets get this back to the topic where it is simply a myth that Smith is better XO guy than Miles. Fascinating.
-
I would probably be in a bad mood too if I were you. We are all frustrated with the season, but you went on an island for Miles more than most. So you have to deal with that frustration as well. If I were that wrong about something, perhaps I would try to make it seem like it is impossible to win here too if my guy couldn't. Difference is, I knew Miles wasn't a good coach a long time ago.

I am pleased from the standpoint that we gave pretty good effort. I also thought the offensive spacing looked a little bit better than many games without Copeland. If we could have made more free throws we had a shot to put a little bit of game pressure on them. Nana boneheaded play really hurt. An example of bad teams doing losing things.
